weekend watchout rain could bring flooding to streets and back yards, we're issuing a first alert. >> prison guard attack an inmate just released attacked a guard and the guard fights bout security in the parking lot where it all happened. fans still flying high a week after the eagles' super bowl win. fans are still riding the wave celebrating one of the team's hometown heroes. at 6:00 a steady soaking rain is making for a soggy weekend. some areas could get up to inches of this weekend. good evening, everyone, i'm denise nakano. you're taking a live look at overs over our area. it's enough rain that it could cause you some issues that. that's why our weather team hassished an alert. because of heavy rain with the possibility of flooding.

rain.ough the ev travel heavier rain overnight and the est for flooding forecast coming up. new details shooting of a parking lot of aan didn't leave the property before igators say he committed another crime. he's in the hospital after a corrections officer shot him. nbc 10's drew smith is live outside a correctional facility in holmesberg with details. >> can you see a number of parking lots surrounding this jail it's last night when an officer was leaving when he wasn't expecting to mee inmate who had just been released, had been in and out of philadelphia jails seven times already. now he's in trouble again. a crime scene just outside the jailhouse walls, 26-year-old jamal bennett released from custody after two-week stay for probation and gun violations. a court order let him go. but philadelphia prison commissioner blanche carney said he hung around in the parking lot for 45 minutes before walking toward officer michael

maritey. >> leaving his duty for the day. and he did certainly not expect this to occur. >> there was a fight. the officer thrown to the ground. investigators say bennett was trying to steal meritey's car. >> meritey gave him several verbal commands to stop. >> the 27-year veteran managed to get into the car where he kept a personal gun. but the fight continued, police say he shot bennett in the chest and called 911. inmates in the jail. they don't like correctional officers inside the walls and they don't like them outside the walls. >> the union is upset this could happen on the jail's own grounds, calling for changes to parking security. >> they shouldn't have to when they get out of the car to go to work they're going to be harassed or threatened. >> the commissioner said she's going to implement more patrols, saying employee safety is a top priority. >> i'm responsible for th when we see that there's a situation that presents able to correct it and address it we do. >> there were no surveillance cameras in the area of the lot

where the attack happened. but the prisons department told us they just upgraded the lighting for safety reasons. the officer is at home resting. he told the prisons department he wanted to return to work. but doctors ordered him to rest and recover. the man who was shot was last listed in serious condition. live in holmesburg, nbc 10 news. a developing story out of ohio, shot and killed afternoon in what investigators are calling an police say the officers were responding to a hang-up call to 911 north of columbus. as soon as the officers went into the apartment they were shot. the suspect was wounded and is now in custody. police in south jersey say they've arrested a man who tried setting a police station on fire. we first showed you the surveillance video back in december. watch as the man in the video walks up to the lobby of the galley township police department throwing a bottle at the doors. police say the bottle shattered, splashing accelerant all over

the lobby entrance but it never caught fire. police told us they've arrested shawn shearer, charged with attempted arson. a south jersey dad is charged in the death of his infant son. jose rojas' 4-month-old son died in the hospital after he told 911 the boy fell off the bed. but docto injuries were so significant that only a fall from at least 30 feet could have caused them. the boy probably died from abusive head trauma according to doctors and rojas is charged with manslaughter assault and endangering the welfare of a ♪ ♪ the first full day of competition in the winter olympics came with a highs, lows and everything in between for team usa. one of the highs came for first-time olympian mame bayme who is speedskate race was cheered on by none other than mike pence and the president of south korea. nbc's gina kim has more from pyeongchang.
