school. topping nbc 10 news at 6:00, get ready for saturday snow, tracking a winter storm that will hit tomorrow, look at the first alert radar. about this time tomorrow the storm will be blowing right into our area. >> a live look at allendown, that's where the worst of the snow could hit. >> on the shore it is a completely different story. >> our first alert meteorologists are tracking the snow so you know how to plan for your saturday. >> this is a fast moving storm, give us a update. >> in the afternoon, things will change rapidly. we have a first alert for accumulating snow now. we think that is where we will see an all snow event, but in philadelphia you will see snow

transitioning back to rain and snow, just not the amount they will see there. so the roads will be impacted, they will be snow packed in the lehigh valley, in the suburbs, slushy and sloppy. we're going to see three to six inches of heavy, wet snow. it will be slippery travel. late tonight into early sunday. if you're going to church or brunch on sunday, give it a few hours. maybe some of it will be melting away. the rain that we have been looking at for the last few hours is tapering off and sags off to the south and east. pennsylvania going to pittsburgh. this is what will happen, i'll walk you through the next 12 to 36 hours. by tonight you will have clear skies. wake up tomorrow morning with

sunshine, and by 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon the first of all of this will move in, it could start as rain and transition to snow. we get a quick burst of snow. a lot of rain all of this is out of here by shortly after midnight. we'll talk more about what is ahead especially next week, but what is really key to tomorrow, glenn, is the temperature profile, right? >> the temperature profile can make a big difference. you want to check that temperature in your neighborhood as this is going on tomorrow. as we go through the night tonight, temperatures will cool, but barely below freezing. they will warm up tomorrow again before that snow hits. the first snow melts when it hits. then, by 8:00, the snow is getting heavier, and it is still

above freezing. unless it is snowing really hard, that snow melts as it falls and it could change over to rain a little bit, and that's why there is a little more accumulation suspected. so we're not talking about everything icing up like we often get after storms. then sunday, a lot of snow on the grassy surfaces will be melting. coming up, how much snow to expect in your neighborhood and record warmth for next week. >> and get the first alert forecast for your neighborhood, use the same tools. we're learning new details

about the confessed shooter in the broward high school massacre. there was over 20 calls about the shooter in the last few years. they are following up on the shooting at the high school in parkland, florida. the sheriff is also looking into actions by the fbi. agents failed to follow up on a tip last month that the suspect bragged on social media that he want today shoot up a school. >> make no mistake about it, america, the only one to blame for this incident is the killer himself. >> nbc 10s miguel martinez has been in parkland since the murder spree started, the fbi is getting slammed for ignoring that tip. >> yeah, this memorial that is growing behind me, the vigil that happened last night and the

your news from, that social media is for social purposes. that fake accounts were used here to spread misinformation. one gentleman was talking with his grandmother and say it's is a hot topic in his house. they say this is just the tip of the iceberg, there is corruption all over the world. the white house released a statement saying the president is glad to see the special council's investigation indicates no collusion before the trump campaign and russia and the outcome of the election was not changed or affected.

the governor of puerto rico was in philadelphia today talking about efforts to rebuild the island. he spoke at a college in hunting park. he foe docused on families livin our region because their homes were destroyed by maria. he promised to ask state and city officials for help. so that we can make sure this process goes forward, and that we can take care of the u.s. citizens that live in puerto rico that are staying right now in pennsylvania. and the governor promised to try to extend the assistance program that ends next month. a development coming to west philadelphia. >> today, city, state, and local leaders gathered to break ground

olympic village testing people's knowledge about philadelphia. that should be interesting, tonight at 11:00. >> time to pull out your puffy coats, know is coming our way on saturday as we take a look at the blue cross river rink. know in 24 hours from now. it will be snowsiing here in otr parts of our area. big, wet flakes, there will not be any wind. record warmth next week, too, after this snow gets melted. we have a first alert out for the suburbs. these are the areas, they will be all snow, several inches of snow, this is generally 6:00 p.m. tomorrow to 5:00 a.m. on sunday. this is a fast moving quick hitting storm but heavy wet snow for a period of time causing

sloppy travel. the rain that we have today moved out, the last of it in the jersey shore and southern delaware and now we have to go across the country to find the storm for tomorrow riding a very powerful jet stream. today's highs, up to 60 degrees, second day in a row. roads are warm, 52 right now. 40s north and west. the roads are still warm, staying warm much of the night, barely getting below freezing in the morning. by the time the snow comes in, it will melt at the very start, it could get heavy enough so that it could get a little burst of what accumulates on crassy surfaces. as long as that temperature stays above freezing, we'll see it melt very quickly. after that tomorrow, it doesn't

get that cold, it's not like everything will ice up for sunday morning. you wait long enough and it will melt with the sun and the warmer temperatures. how much snow, three to six inches in the area well up to the north and west, in the first alert including reddiading, allentown, richland, bucks county, east and also there. we're talking one to three inches, mostly melting in lower bucks county. much of philadelphia, but crest nut hill could see a little more problems as a result. wilmington, and down in the one to three inch zone. and it is a good thing there are temperatures that are  borderline. so on sunday, everything melts at 48. more rain coming late on monday, and look at these temperatures.
