will be demolished. >> the busy street in old city will be closed at least a week. following that story since that fire started early yesterday. she joins us live with more, lauren. >> reporter: demolishing that building, that is not going to be an easy job. let me step out and to tell you what i'm talking about. let me show you how closely these buildings are sandwiched together and the ones on either side okay. they just started putting water and in the past few minutes. right where the water is heating there's a fire escape up there, the first thing that happens there. they want to take that down and get the weight off the facade so the whole thing doesn't collapse. from a bucket truck a few stories up, a look at the charred remains, this building city officials says is imminently dangerous and has to come down. the intense fire started burning

for hours early sunday morning. dozens of visitors at residents had to evacuate. >> when we were going down the stairs and i saw how much smoke there was i almost felt the fire was above us because of so much smoke. >> reporter: the hotel guests were able to retrieve what was left. >> and when you go back you realize, man, if i knew i couldn't go back i would have gotten my purse. >> reporter: they got it for them. >> there was a lot of broken glass and water on the roof and they don't want anybody up there. i guess a hazard. >> reporter: while the biggest concern on this block was the fire ravaged 239, there were other worries. 237 chestnut is now deemed unsafe. authorities believe it can be repaired but needs structural attention on the fifth floor. at the corner, "the little lion restaurant" is closed now. the co-owner, chris younge, says

there is water damage. >> we just don't know yet if it is something we can dry out. >> reporter: the workers on scene here, atf, now, a spokeswoman from that agency said they've been doing their work from outside and haven't yet been able to get inside the building to determine where and how this fire started. live in old city, lauren mayk, nbc10 news. >> all right. new lines have been draub in pennsylvania that impact congressional districts. what does it mean for you? it could impact who your congressional representative is. these are the new lines drawn up by the state supreme court. the new map on the right has lines based on county boundaries. the old map on the left was based less on geography. the part on the left was known

the fog already starting to develop. the radar shows showers up to the north, not much. farther to the north there is plenty of rain. all this headed up to the north and warm air down to our south, that's what's coming up here. we have a southerly wind up to 48 degrees in philadelphia, 51, atlantic city international and now much warmer air farther to the south. that is going to start coming in. you will see the temperatures climbing. warmer by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow than it is right now. there will also be fog. more on the record high temperatures and how high and how long it will last coming up. today's suspected school shooter, nikolas cruz, faced a judge. cruz charged with 17 counts of murder, sat at the defense table with his head down during the brief hearing and did not talk.

meanwhile, members of the florida senate say they're preparing sweeping gun legislation. it includes a ban on the stocks that allow you to fire more bullets in a shorter amount of time and allows funding for mental health programs at the schools. nearby the memorial park, it continue to grow filling the site and honoring the 17 murdered at marjorie stoneman douglas hospital and the 17 angels watch over the memorial. one of the 17 victims has a connection to the jersey shore. alyssa alhadeff and they're remembering her fondly. efforts to honor alyssa's memory. >> she was a sweet little thing, very bright. >> reporter: sue flyer still has

alyssa alhadeff's kindergarten report. >> alyssa is a delight to have in the classroom. >> reporter: now, she has been shedding tears after learning the 14-year-old was among those who lost their lives in last week's high school massacre in florida. >> it's heartbreaking when you don't know them. when you realize who it is, it's horrible. >> reporter: flyer was alyssa's kindergarten teacher at the jewish community in northdale before she and he family moved out of the area, alyssa's mother unam in to hold back her emotions last week. >> president trump, you say what can you do? you can stop the guns from getting into these children's homes. >> reporter: linda cope served as vice president of the jewish community day school. she's been encouraging people here to donate nto a gofundme

and pointing to more warning signs before the massacre. for all women in new jersey, today, governor phil murphy says he plans to sign a bill into law to restore women's healthcare funding. he says he's reversing the decision the christie administration made and the governor signs that bill thursday. in delaware, another eight people have died from the flu, six in the past week. none of the six got flu shots and all lived in newcastle county. last week a new jersey child died from the flu, the third child to die this year from the garden state. a small south jersey town is without a fleet of ambulances after this fire. just consumed by flames overnight. four emts asleep inside. they got out safely. all the department's ambulances were destroyed. the nearby towns loaned them to respond to 911 calls.

>> probably 2 to $2.5 million, you take into account all the ambulances and buildings. >> i'm grateful. we started from the bottom and built up. i have full faith we can do it again. >> the state fire marshal's office is working to figure out how that fire started. caught on camera, a teenager trying to get into a philadelphia school with a gun. take a good look at this surveillance video. this was recorded last thursday afternoon. he tried opening the doors at frederick douglass charter school in philadelphia. fortunately, that door was locked. then he knocked and finally gave up. if you have any idea who this is, a very clear picture there, you are asked to call police. to this now missing for 13 years, a local couple disappeared after they walked out of a philadelphia bar on south street. tonight, the fbi reminds everyone the case remains open. there is still a $50,000 reward

for information on danielle imbo and richard jr. their credit cards were never used after they disappeared. years of tip calls have come up empty. police want to find a man who kicked a pregnant woman on the street when she failed to give him money. he asked her for $2 and police released this surveillance video of this alleged attacker hoping they recognize this man in the white shirt. the woman was treated at the hospital and released. a commuter alert in south jersey, patco says the west entrance will be closed through the summer and work will soon start for the elevator. no school for president's day so the kids spent the day shooting hoops at this location. about 200 played full court games or shot around testing their skills.

>> great looking at the future long hillers. a live look out there on the schuylkill that is, moving along pretty well. >> let's get the latest on our weather with our meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. big changes coming. >> one of the changes is increase in traffic tomorrow now that the holiday is over. starting to see a little fog forming, some lower clouds blocking the tops of the buildings. we will see early fog during the day tomorrow, especially areas that had snow on the ground. record warmth is coming for several areas the next couple of days. it will be a very wet pattern from thursday through sunday of the weekend. just a few little showers left, generally north of the city. even more, farther to the north way out of our area and back to the west. you can see a big train of moisture. that train is headed north, not coming this way. what is coming this way is the

warmth. you have southerly winds now and temperatures in the 50s in jersey, 40s in pennsylvania and delaware, but you head a little to the west, and look what you've got. 64 in pittsburgh, 73 in cincinnati and nashville. 79 in dallas. this warm air comes in first, and there's the cold air. the two clash and you have rain in the middle. once that gets here, it will stay here for a while. it's 44 in greenville, 45 in harmony hills, marshallton, 46, reidy point and odessa. well into the 50s, close to 60 degrees in southern delaware, ellendale and lincoln, 57. look at the beaches, much cooler. that's going to be the case at the jersey shore over the next couple of days. no records there. philadelphia, we redikt a record tomorrow. it is 70, may get to 72.

we predicted a record tomorrow. and wilmington could set a record as well. the temperature tonight actually goes up. cloudy skies by 5:00 a.m., 57 degrees, the average high is 45. by noon, we're in the 60s, and then we're getting into the low 70s, as we go into the afternoon. another even warmer night tomorrow night, low temperature is 62. a low of 62. then getting well into the 70s before these showers come in and cool us down. once the cool air comes in the wind shifted to the east. temperature goes down. rain moves in and we go from record warmth to some really ugly chilly weather over several days, but you can see the difference between the city and the shore, so make sure you're aware of that.
