pain for a family after a hail of gunfire killed a young woman inside a van while her twin sister and young kids were in that vehicle. >> it's indescribable. i never felt this pain before. >> tonight hunt is on for the killer. i'm jacqueline london. >> and i'm jim rosenfield. surveillance video shows the moments after the shooting. a van veers across several lanes and crashes into a build. ing along old new york road. two men fired five shots hitting her in the head. her twin sister was also in that van along with three small children. >> we don't believe it's road rage. the victims appear to be innocent parties. miguel martinez-valle spent the

day with the family. >> it's hard to imagine the pain this family is going through. >> absolutely devastating pain. it's what they tell me. a lot of her family say she's going to be deeply missed. police say that she lost control of her van after being shot across the street. the band then ended up crashing right here into that wall. she was the only one that died. other people in the car were injured. she was less than a mile away from her home when two men shot into the van she was driving. just inches away was her twin sister. three children in the back. >> it's undescribable. i never felt this pain before. >> reporter: today loved ones are left dealing with that pain. family members say her sister and their mother are taking it the hardest.

>> to your first alert weather, we're tracking rain. we're in for a soggy stretch. not too many umbrellas out there. >> a live look at the philadelphia seem of art. a huge difference from yesterday with our temperature plunge. we have seen a 40 degree drop in some neighborhoods. from the art museum to allentown, temperatures right now in the 40s. nbc 10's meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking the latest conditions. >> we warned you about this. exaggeration. the temperature did drop another 40 degrees in the area. we have a wet lens on the camera in delaware. delaware is seeing a little more rain than other parts of the area. this is the high temperature for today. near midnight last night. so you can see we're well into the 50s. even 60s. watch how much is falling. down to 40 degrees in philadelphia. 38 in allentown.

minutes to get to the site of the crime. highly trained teachers and coachers would solve the problem instantly before police arrive. great deterrence. new jersey is one of 18 states where the law allows guns on school campuses, but it's not as easy as it sounds. e we sent cydney long to break down what the law really means. >> reporter: this father never wants to see the day when teachers can carry a gun to school. >> i just think it's too much. it's too many responsibilities. >> reporter: he has a debate via text with a friend trained in military and law enforcement. >> i do think it's a good idea for security, police, but i don't think it's a good idea for teachers. they have enough on their plates. >> reporter: after numerous calls today, to legislators, the department of ed, numerous police and higher ups thought it would be nearly impossible. the new jersey law regarding guns in schools seems to say the leader of a school can get

permission for a person to carry one on campus, but police and lawmakers say not so. both say applicants must show a justifiable need and specific threat not only proving you need a gun but getting police and a court judge to approve the permit. we spoke to several police departments today who tell me when that strict criteria, as well as a short list of who can carry, they wouldn't approve teachers to bring a gun to school any time soon. but if you get that far, the school superintendent says no way. >> i went to school for two decades now and have a doctorate. that does not give me authority to tell people to walk around with a gun. >> reporter: teachers are trained to educate, not pull a trigger. >> you never know if a situation arises if they are going to freeze, it they are able to do when they need to do. >> we need to let people know you come to our schools, you're going to be e dead. it's going to be fast. >> reporter: this our homework,

getting to the point where teachers have guns is a long shot and not without very high stakes discussions and debate. cydney long, nbc 10 news. today students at the university of pennsylvania rallied against gun violence. the rain could not stop the young people tr demanding change when it comes to gun laws. they held signs with the locations of mass shootings in the u.s. then held a moment of silence for the victims. organizers also offered students help with voter registration. stay up to date with the story with the nbc 10 app. see how students are taking a stand in our area and across the nation to demand tougher gun laws. police say a group of thieves targeted a special needs man to help with their crime ring. the crooks stole these items and mailed them to the victim. he was then instructed to pawn them and sent the thieves the cash. police say when the victim couldn't sell them fast enough, the thieves started threatening family.

>> i think the best defense here is calling the police immediately. not getting sucked in. making sure if you have a loved one who you think is going to be a victim, try to intercede before they follow any of the instructions. >> the next order of business is to find where all this stuff belongs. a group of republican lawmakers from pennsylvania pushing back now against the new congressional redistricting map. eight congressmen filed a lawsuit challenging this state supreme court's order. the court didn't have the authority to order a new map. they are asking a federal court to prevent abuse in the elections. next week crews will demolish a building gut ted by massive fire in old city. it will take a week for the process. firefighters battle the fires that burned for hours early sunday morning. several apartments and stores on

chestnut street were destroyed. no word on what started it. it took about three hours to get this warehouse fire under control in south philadelphia. sky force 10 flew over the scene around noon. at one point the fire stopped amtrak services on a nearby line. wesh working to find out what started it. no one was hurt. a 4-year-old is going to be a hero. he's going to try to save his baby brother's lives. i'm tim furlong, i'll explain, coming up. and we have a rain takeover. not much for the next few days. when things are going to start to dry out, next in my first alert forecast.

all new at 6:00, a young hero to the res. a toddler is giving his twin brothers the gift of life. >> it's the perfect match for both the twins. >> the 4-year-old is donating his bone marrow because his brothers have a disease. tim furlong shares their story. >> they are just 4 months old, but with a chronic disease reeking havoc on their immune system, they need a hero. their 4-year-old brother michael is it. >> i want to save their life. >> i'm really scared. exhausted, overwhelmed, in shock. it's a lot of emotions all at once. >> mom and dad have been passing each other taking turns staying with the twins. their older boy was cured of the same disorder when he was small.

mom wasn't totally surprised the new twins needed bone marrow. it affects boys primarily. >> that's not a good thing. >> the short time ago, doctors told mom her mikey is the perfect match for the twins. >> obviously, mom and dad had to have a real heart to heart with the doctors and to weigh out the risks michael could face. but after consulting, they believe he's going to be just fine. >> michael can't wait to hug his brothers on march 8th he will go in for his procedure and get their transplant later in the day. hope they fli they get. to be together in april. that's when they will celebrate the twins and the slight ly oldr hero who saved them e. >> i'm never going to forget what he did. even though sometimes he's a pain. i still love him. and i love my little brothers too. tim furlong, nbc 10 news. >> those boys are wise beyond their years.

comcast technology center. we do have more dreary days ahead before the sun comes back. >> meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here now. is there a better day to get out this weekend or just stay in for the whole thing. >>. i would say saturday will probably be. the least wet of the weekend. but it will be less rain saturday than sunday. 81 degree. s in allentown. 37 degrees colder than 24 hours ago. and that kind of drop has happened everywhere across the area. you don't see numbers like that very often. now we're getting closer to the freezing point here. so you might be concerned about any rain changes to ice or snow. but. i don't think the temperatures

are going to drop more than a couple of degrees. so 36, fleetwood at 36. briansville at 36. still staying above freezing all night. we'll keep an eye on it so we don't think it's going to. drop very much. the first batch of regular rain has moved off. now we're left with a little bit of drizzle at times during the rest of the night except for farther to the south where we still had the steadier rain. we look back to the west and this giant area of moisture is headed this way. so we're not done with the steadiest of the rain. as we go through the evening, you're not finding a large area of rain. it's just cloudy. it's chilly. it's nasty. then here comes a steadier rain tomorrow. hours of it. especially during the morning hours. temperatures really don't go up much at all.

and then we get some waves of rain from time to time. more batches coming through friday night. here's saturday. temperatures still holding down a little bit. but maybe not as cold as tomorrow. here's more rain saturday afternoon and saturday night. saturday night and into sunday morning. that may be. some of the heaviest. yellows and reds would be indicating had heavier rain. there we are with some potentially very heavy rain at times sunday morning. then drying out a little bit later on during the day sunday. how much rain total? generally, more to the north than to the south. we're still not talking about rain in a short enough period of time to cause flooding. then next week things start
