the local athletes competing tonight. that's in just two minutes. first, brace yourself for a soaking wet weekend. rain is set to crash your plans. now it is misty, drizzly and chilly. from philadelphia to the lehigh valley and down to the jersey shore. you are looking at center city, allentown, ocean city and south philadelphia. tonight is just the beginning. the heaviest rain will move in saturday night and into sunday. let's bring in tami souza. >> it's an umbrella alert. make indoor plans. there are few breaks in the clouds and in the rain. we will cover a little bit of that coming up. we don't have rain, a misty, drizzly night out there. you can see clouds in place and scattered showers moving through central pennsylvania. i will walk you through hour by hour. temperatures in the 40s.

more medals. that includes some of our local athletes. let's go live to our olympic expert, keith jones at olympic park. a lot of action there tonight. >> snowboarding big air is a crazy, brand-new event to the winter olympics. look at the video. it involves a snowboarding going down a 160-foot ramp, getting big air and pulling off tricks. we have three athletes in the finds including red girard. it was kyle mack who jumped to a silver. a.j. almost died four months ago. he was in a coma after a complication from shoulder surgery. he had to relearn reading and writing. now he is competing in the olympics. another new jersey native competing in the four-man

investigators say a mother and 13-year-old were shopping at the target. a man crept up behind the young girl and grabbed her inappropriately. customers told us they plan to be more aware of their surroundings. >> now i'm really hesitant to tell her to go to the store, especially if it happened at this target. >> i come here all the time with my mom, with you, my younger sister. >> that's what scares me. >> it's scary. >> police tonight have not released the suspect's name. tonight we're learning new details about a warning to the fbi concerning the florida school shooting suspect a month before the massacre. new tonight, a transcript of a woman's call to the fbi. she said she was worried that he might be, quote, getting into a school and just shooting up the place. she also told the fbi he had an arsenal of weapons and ammunition and that he was, quote, going to explode. the fbi has admitted it failed

to investigate the woman's tip. cruz is charged with killing 17 people inside a high school in parkland last week. today, florida's governor proposed prohibiting anyone under 21 or any mentally ill person from owning a gun in that state. delaware's governor called for a ban on assault weapons in the first state. nbc 10 shows us why some predict a rush to buy these guns if this idea becomes law. >> reporter: delaware's governor says he continues to work with school districts to update their safety plans. says more has to be done. that's why in the next few weeks he will work with lawmakers to craft legislation to ban the sale of assault-style rifles. this man is no stranger to the gun debate. he has been selling and fixing guns out of his gun stock shop for 35 years. >> out of them in a week and a half. we have seen this happen before. >> reporter: he is talking about

the rush that would happen if the governor's idea of banning the sale of all assault-style rifles ever became law. he refers to them as tactical weapons. >> sit down and relax and talk it out and see if there's any other kind of recourse. >> reporter: don't ban the sale of these guns? >> i don't think a ban will do anything at all. >> reporter: in a statement the governor says military style weapons can be used to carry out catastrophic acts of violence. they have no place on the streets of our neighborhoods. jessica, who is with a third grader tonight, agrees with the governor. she tells nbc 10, ar-15-style guns like the one used in florida's school shooting should not be street legal. >> guns are everywhere. you are not going to stop every gun. to ban some is better than none. >> reporter: a controversial idea with no shortage of opinions. aaron baskerville, nbc 10 news. a guilty plea from a former

trump campaign associate. rick gates pleaded guilty. gates lied about meeting with former trump campaign manager paul manafort as well as a lobbyist and a member of congress. gates is the third trump associate to make a deal to cooperate in the russia investigation. today manafort was hit with more charges. he was first indicted with gates back in october. dozens of buses in one lehigh valley school district are destroyed tonight after they went up in flames overnight. look at all the danimage. that's where nearly 30 buses were burned in a fire. about a fifth of the fleet. that forced officials to cancel school today. the district has insurance and for now it will rely on buses from nearby districts. no word on what started that fire. new tonight from delaware, police in new castle county near your help as they look for a man accused of exposing himself to two girls. it happened twice this month. both times were in wilmington. the man exposed himself to the

two girls after pulling up to them in a green older model sedan and asking for directions. a high school student is charged after this brawl broke out during a basketball game in delaware. this was the scene during a game. the game was held on a neutral court. one of the fans wouldn't move his foot off a player's seat. that's when tensions just boiled over. >> our coaches, we want to get our guys on the bench, get our guys into lthe huddle. >> to me, that setup was just dynamite waiting to explode. >> because of the brawl, the game was called off with four minutes to go. changes are coming for a high school basketball player forced to sit out of a game because of her religion. a referee benched her because she was wearing a hijab. they say she didn't fill out a

the hometown hero goes back to where it all began. it's smiles for super bowl champ clement who was signing autographs today. it has been 19 days since they won the super bowl. the hype still hasn't died down. we talked with corey about what it means to never forget where you came from. >> it's important to realize the roots you came from. every time i'm out here i try to be connected with something. even if it's something small or something large, i want the opportunity to let them know i haven't outgrown anybody. >> great attitude. he wasn't drafted out of college. it means extra to be signed by his hometown eagles and to win a ring with them. get ready to hear more eagles chants at the next sixers game.

>> if it's going to rain and the winter has to be snow. >> reporter: back to that parade here. if there's heavy rain, they are open to delaying it a little bit. they are hoping to get it off on time. there will be clubhouses along the route so people can enjoy the music even if there are downpours. continue our weather coverage. the heaviest rain starts tomorrow night? >> yes, it does start tomorrow night. it does go into the first half of sunday. you know what? i think we will work magic. we will get to that in a moment. a foggy night in some places. it has been drifting around the area. look at cape may. you can barely see the street. the winds are out of the southwest. that's good, southwest winds are warmer airflow. we will see temperatures on the rise tomorrow. 44 right now in philadelphia. it feels like, windchill of 38. it's 44 in wilmington right now. let's make one last stop. allentown, 41. everybody is comfortable. we should be colder than this.

the clouds are helping to hold in some of the warmth. those winds that have that component, they are helping. i will call this umbrellas, ugly shoes and bad hair for the weekend. it's not a total washout. but you will need the umbrella and don't wear the fancy shoes. don't spend a lot of time on your hair. it's going to be dry and mild to start off next week. the first three days of next week are magnificent. then march comes in like a lion on thursday. here is a footnote. 25 days from now guess what starts. spring. you knew it. radar, we are looking at nothing coming down in the form of rain. there's drizzle and mist in the sky. we have seen a few showers in the central portion of the state. we are watching this large storm system that's lifting out of the southern plains. look at it. it's arcing into our area. another area of low pressure. that will fill in tomorrow

afternoon, especially tomorrow night and into the first half of sunday. here we go. we're in the 40s. winds out of the south. here comes scattered showers early tomorrow morning, perhaps early afternoon we start to see one batch of rain. we make it into the 50s tomorrow. the mid 50s. then we go into sunday. look at this. 8:30 in the morning, no, the parade. watch what happens. it sags through. so far, every model run has brought this through very close to 1:00. as drew said, maybe a tiny delay or no delay. carry the rain slicker. you may not need them. by the time we get into the afternoon, the southerly winds kick us into the 60s in some places. then just in time for the weekend to be over, there it is, clears out and we have 50s out there monday. for tonight, 42 in philadelphia. 38 in the lehigh valley. jersey shore, you are going to see 45. we could see a sprinkle or shower early tomorrow morning. tomorrow, we will look at cloudy skies, 53 in philadelphia. 52 in the suburbs. 52 in lehigh valley.
