allentown this morning. if you would like to do something outdoors, now is the time to get out before the wet weather arrives today. >> our meteorologist is tracking this spring like weather, the spring like showers in the neighborhood forecast. >> yeah. it has felt more like spring than winter. talking a lot about rain and mild seasons. that conversation continues throughout your weekend. here's a look at radar and satellite. the gray overlay that you see is all the clouds in place. we have fog as well as mentioned. on top of that, you don't have to watch too far west to see the green picking up on the radar. the radar network showing us the showers headed our direction. they will be across the region. there's a lot more where that comes from all of this moisture moving our direction. it will help keeping up with shower chances into tonight, tomorrow, even tomorrow afternoon. as for temperatures, very mild start. 43 in coatsville. 45 in mt. holly. philly in the 40s this morning.

there's no worry of icing or of any snow. this is all going to be rain for us today. and again tomorrow. visibility is down in a few spots. you see it only a quarter of mile like dover and pottstown. we'll talk more about the foggy conditions in place and what to expect the rest of saturday coming up. >> new overnight, police are searching for the shooter who targeted two men just outside of a deli in philadelphia's logan neighborhood. the shooting happened at broad and rockland streets just before 2:00. both victims are in stable condition. a neighborhood in old city is struggling to recover after this four alarm fire. >> it burned through an historic building that housed a diner on the first floor with condos above. now we have new details about the plans to carefully demolish the structure. we have the details live. >> reporter: good morning. it's going to be a delicate process to bring this building down. crews are back at it again early this morning. take a look behind me. they're working on one of the buildings next to the one that

caught fire, clearing debris and getting it ready for demolition. city inspectors found the entire building here at 239 chestnut at at collapse. that puts other buildings nearby in danger. demolition begins sometime this coming week. crews are going to try to salvage at least one part of the historic structure. the first floor facade will be kept as a piece of history. now, that overnight fire last sunday tore through one of the most historic blocks in all of old city. a number of pets were killed. apartments, businesses destroyed. no injuries to any residents. the cause remains under investigation and businessesed by this fire remain closed. some of them say it could take months to open the little lion restaurant which is right next door to that building that caught fire. they say they hope to open by mother's day. on the other side of the fire, a gelatto restaurant that says they hope to open sometime this week. as you can see behind me, it's going to be a lot of

construction, a lot of debris, especially as they begin the delicate process of bringing the building down. now we're in old city, nbc 10 news. this morning we are learning new details about a tip to the fbi warning the florida school shooting suspect one month before that massacre happened. a transcript of a woman's call to the bureau revealed she was worried that nikolas cruz might be, quote, getting into a school and just shooting the place up. she also told the fbi that cruz had an arsenal of weapons and ammunition. and that he was, quote, going to explode. the fbi admitted it failed to investigate that woman's tip. cruz is now charged with killing 17 people inside a high school in parkland, florida last week. in the wake of this shooting, florida's republican governor appears to be going against the nra offering his ideas on gun control. rick scott wants to prohibit anybody under the age of 21 and some people diagnosed with

mengts illness from owning a gun. our governor is calling for a ban on assault rifles. reaction to his announcement is mixed. it's a controversial idea. at a gun stock shop, an owner tells us a ban like the one proposed won't fix the problem of mass shootings. >> sit down and relax. let's try to talk it out and see if there's any other kind of resource. >> and don't ban the sale of these types of guns? >> guns are everywhere. you're not going to stop every gun. ban some, t better than none. >> reporter: that mother you heard from says the governor's proposal is a start. kearny promises to work with state lawmakers in the next few weeks to create the bill for the ban. is this time different when it comes to the gun debate? chuck todd will tackle that question with toomey of pennsylvania and other guests on meet the press. it comes your way tomorrow morning at 10:30 on nbc 10.

police in new castle county, delaware are asking for your help in tracking down a man wanted for exposing himself to two girls this is the composite sketch of the man. investigators say he exposed himself twice this month in wilmington. according to police it happened after the man drove up to the girls in a green older model sedan asking for directions. in bucks county police are searching for a man accused of groping a teenage girl while she was shopping with her mother. according to investigators this man cryept up behind her and grabbed her. customers say you can never be too careful about being vigilant in public. >> now i'm e hesitant to tell her to go to the store. she comes here all the time. >> i come here all the time with my mom, you, my younger sister. it's scary. the police say if you

recognize the man in this picture, they want to hear from you. union leaders and civil rights groups in philadelphia will have a working people's rally. the rally scheduled to happen as part of a nationwide event. it comes days before the u.s. supreme court hears arguments on whether public sector unions can force members to actually pay dues. in montgomery county residents can try out new voting machines at an open house in blue bell. officials also want voter's feedback as to what they like. the machines are state certified. today's open house is from 9:30 to 12:30 at the montgomery county community college. let's switch gears and talk about the olympics. team usa strikes gold in men's curling. overnight the u.s. brushed aside sweden 10-7 for the

organizers say the event along main street is on despite the gloomy forecast. as in year's past, the sound of bands will fill the air. a local super bowl hero will add a new wrinkle this year. jason kelce will play the sax phone with the avalon string band. you may recall that was the band that provided the mummers suit that he wore during the championship celebration. >> i think that he's a man of the people, loves being with the people, and i think that the people love seeing this side of him. >> the quick heads up. in case of heavy rain tomorrow, parade organizers plan to put the string band in clubhouses along main street so you can actually go inside to enjoy their performances. >> something tells me the rain is not going to stop folks down at the jersey shore considering the fact that normally this time of year they have to deal with freezing temperatures. bitter cold temperatures in the atlantic. that's right. we're talking about the polar bear plunge in north wild wood

kicks off today. it's set for 11:00 at 15th street and the beach. this plunge benefits the philadelphia police fallen heros fund and some other worthy causes. you can head north to seaside heights if you want to top off another plunge. that happens today at 1:00 this afternoon. you can take the chilly dip at the beach. there's a bit of a renovation project happening there. there's going to be a special bleacher like system set up to get you from the boardwalk to the sand to the ocean and then you jump in. proceeds from this plunge go to the special olympics of new jersey. unless you're taking that dip in the atlantic, the weather may get in the way of your plans. especially if you're trying to clean up your yard. >> our meteorologist is tracking rain, unfortunately, moving in the area. s of rain behind you. >> there is. we're looking at first alert radar and satellite. all the rain, the moisture pushing our direction. it won't be long before we start to get some of the rain in our area. we'll track out how long it

gates means he's now a cooperating witness in the russia investigation. court papers reveal he admitted to conspireing against the government. they also say gates lied to investigators even while he was working out a deal with robert mueller. the plea is the same day as he hit paul manafort with charges he secretly paid european politicians. gates is the third trump associate to plead guilty in the probe of the russia interference with the 2016 election. this weekend the manayunk north line will not operate between elm and the norris town transportation center because of construction. shuttle buses will take riders between the transportation center and the elm street and mean street satations.

weather. i'm your meteorologist. we're starting with a live view out of cape may, new jersey. it's hard to see through the camera. moisture is collected on the lens of the camera because there's a lot of moisture in our air right now. on top of that, we have foggy conditions. they are spread across the region. patchy fog for most of us. you may run into a period of dense fog. drive slow. on your jersey shore neighborhood, temperatures are looking good. 47 atlantic city. dennis township, 48 degrees. mid upper 40s to start, mild conditions. you have no worries of any ice on roadways with this moisture that's moving through. it just is kind of a springy vibe when you have the warmer air, the rainy conditions, and this is day three of rain we're tracking. look at the rest of the region. temperatures are pretty much consistently in the 40s. lehigh valley at 43.

south jer we're in the mid 40s for florence. on our radar and satellite, a wide picture here. we have clouds over our region, but rain now fast approaching us. particularly near burks chester county. some of the steadier stuff passing through pittsburgh. that's starting to wrap our direction. we're going to start seeing showers developing late morning and especially as we get early afternoon, that's when the rain will pick up. look at the temperatures for today. 54 for the forecast high in summerton. 51 in allentown. all of us with a chance of rain throughout the afternoon. the evening, into sunday too. trenton at 54. warmer air at cape may, atlantic city the mid 50s. and delaware as well with a forecast high of 56. let's go through the hour by hour with chances of rain upticking in the afternoon. 2:30 in the afternoon, areas north and chance are the best

>> reporter: on this gray, drizzly day in atlantic city, hoi ho high hopes that a bright erer ra is just around the corner. >> there are a lot of changes. hopefully it's for the best. >> reporter: two casinos expected to open this summer at properties bringing more life and thousands of jobs back to this section of the boardwalk. >> it closed the last few weeks. hopefully it's a new beginning. >> reporter: this month an owner making more waves by taking a preliminary step toward getting a casino license for the former gaming hall. he says he's exploring his options. but at least one casino expert believes bringing gambling back to show boat would be a bad bet for ac. >> the capacity in the town at that point would be high too much. it would be a detrimental affect of the existing casinos. >> reporter: the owner is confident show boat will benefit

good morning. welcome back to nbc 10 news today. >> it's just after 8:30 on this saturday in addition to the olympics team usa we're also watching the weather. you can see it. a foggy start to saturday and rain is coming later. this is a live look over center city. >> let's get your weather. >> hi. everyone with us on our saturday morning, we're looking at a good bit of clouds across the area. on top of that, you just saw from the live camera view, low clouds and patchy fog all to deal with across the region. and soon enough, bam, that's going to be making it way through. there's more where that comes from. the moisture is surging our direction. it's giving us a chance of showers on and off through saturday and sunday. unfortunately just another damp weekend we're looking at. temperatures, this is the good news.

the temperatures are mild. georgetown at 50. dover almost to 50. we're at 45 in philadelphia. 47 in northeast philly. even up to mount poconos in the low four40s. no concern of ice or snow. we're just talking rain in today's forecast. as we go through the next few hours, at 11:00 a.m., we could see isolated showers. the better chance is through the afternoon for periods of on and off steady rain falling. winds won't be terribly strong. dreary. and this deeps going. we're going to time it out neighborhood by neighborhood and hour by hour in a few minutes. new overnight, a driver suspected of crashing his car into 15 parked cars in south philadelphia is under arrest. that's on south third street. this is about 10:00 last night. police reported no injuries in this case. you can see the damage. right now officers are testing the driver for dui. this upcoming week,

now your nbc 10 first alert weather. hello. i'm your meteorologist. as we look ahead through the weekend and into early next week, it's morning fog we're dealing with. it's not quite as dense as it was a couple of hours ago. you may run into some of it this morning. then it's about the wet weekend. chances of showers on and off today and tomorrow. here's the good news. the sun returns to the forecast on monday. here's what visibility looks like. dealing with fogginess over pottstown. in philadelphia, two and a half miles visibility. the only problems left over is dover where it's still down to a quarter of a mile. this means driving there may be a bit difficult. it will continue to thin out over the next few hours. then it's the rain. we'll talk about that and track

lehigh valley. elkins park at 45 degrees. again, later today 50s easy. average for this time of year is 46 in philadelphia. one degree short of the average temperature in the morning hours. the mild air definitely going to be nice. this not so nice. a lot of moisture surging in. we've seen the last couple of days, thursday there was rain. friday there was rain. today there will be rain and even tomorrow. the pockets of yellow and orange is areas of heavy stuff that's going to move through. that's late today, overnight and early tomorrow morning. today 53 degrees for the high. tomorrow we'll start in the mid 40s. we'll get all the way up to 60 by tomorrow later in the day. lehigh valley 51 to a high of 55. again, rain in tomorrow's forecast as well. we can't escape it. let's look at the hour by hour model. as we go through the morning

hours, we're mostly dry. isolated sures possible. by noon, the rain is moving in. areas north and west. not as much action to start over south jersey or southern delaware. this continues 3:00 in the afternoon. could see a few pockets of hare rain moving by. although most of this is going to be on and off and light to steady. not going to be flood-inducing. it is going to be a good bit of rain throughout the day. this is 7:30 in the evening. again, it's mostly lined up i-95 north and west with more scattered action south. that continues to move south overnight. by 3:30 in the morning now we have pockets of heavier rain that may spread against the shoreline. heavier rain lingers until 8:00 a.m. or so. when it gets lighter. it's still there. we still have more rain to go through. this is at 8:30 in the morning on our model. now we get to the afternoon sunday. now it's breaking up a bit more. it's lighter, more spotty. and a few lingering showers pass

in the overnight. clearing to come after. and that clearing is going to bring us finally some sunshine on monday. how much rain are we talking? for areas south about a third of an inch. the model has updated to a half inch at night. around half to three-quarters along the i-95 corridor and around an inch as you go north and west for the totals through the next 48 hours. we'll talk about your ten-day on ten coming up.

carrol high school completed a dance marathon. they raised more than $58,000 for the children's hospital of philadelphia. you may see a sea of pink at the pennsylvania convention center. more than 3,000 gymnasts will compete in the pink invitation. it raises money for breast cancer survivors receiving complimentary services. a free health and wellness event this morning including cooking demonstrations, panel discussions and blood pressure screenings. i'll host the event. it begins at 10:00 this morning. >> all right. let's talk about weather. people in southeast michigan are dealing with quite a bit of flooding after several days of heavy rain and the melting snow. the river is overflowing. a bridge is closed.

business owners are using sandbags. very different picture than here. that's the same system that's coming our way? >> there's been a path of moisture that's been driving our direction. we've been under the influence of it. that continues for us today. but not to the extent we're talking as i showed off maybe half an inch to an inch for totals by the time this is said and done. showers today pick up tonight into tomorrow morning. 64 tomorrow. and then mild temperatures actually stick around monday, tuesday, wednesday, upper 50s to low 60s. we're also going to finally be able to say some sunshine returns to the forecast for those three days. then we enter another wet pattern to kick off march. 60s to 40s on friday. and then finally we can say this, it looks like the following weekend is dry. i feel like every weekend i've been coming in and talking about rain. >> that's all right. i take 53 and raining versus 33 and snowing any day. >> don't hold your breath. we're not out of february yet.
