around 80 at lunch time in the city. your high today about 83 and feeling like it. humidity value stay in check once again today. enjoy. we'll have the rest of the seven-day coming up in a bit. our top story this morning, state health inspectors will be back in the bronx looking for legionella bacteria in cooling towers. >> mayor de blasio said the month-long outbreak has been contained but yesterday five more buildings tested positive bringing the total to 10. the number of cases stands at 108. there hasn't been a new case in five days but the risk does linger in the bronx. ilana gold has more on that story from the melrose section. >> the bronx county hall of justice is one of the buildings that just tested positive for the bacteria. but more could be affected. teams from the health department will be back in the area testing dozens of buildings. >> reporter: state health inspectors have another tough

job ahead of them today. they plan to take water samples from 42 cooling towers across the south bronx that supply air conditioning and send them to a lab for legionella testing. >> this is uncharted territory. it is important we acknowledge that. we've never seen an outbreak of legionnaires' like this in the history of new york city. >> they're focussed on 100 cooling towers in five sections of the bronx, fordham, mt. eden, hunts point, mott haven and high bridge. they tested 57 after the bronx borough president asked the governor to get involved to help control the outbreak. >> we're here to help manage this process. we're in constant communication with all levels of government including the city. >> reporter: the city revealed five new sites where the health department found traces of legionella bacteria, all in populated area. they include a verizon building,

housing court, hall of justice and samuel gumpers high school. it can cause deadly pneumonia. >> they told my parents a few times that i was on the verge of not making it. >> daniel tejada, more than 100 people recently infected with legionnaires' disease. >> they took my temperature and it was 105 or 106. >> reporter: health officials say you can't get it from person to person contact. in the latest cases victims breathe in mist from the aaffected cooling towers. >> people don't maintain their property. >> that is what it comes down to. >> that is what i think. >> reporter: they need assurance they won't get sick. >> the city should take care of it. and they're not. >> the cooling towers at the five buildings that just tested positive have been treated and disinfected. the health department said they

are safe for the public. meanwhile the team will head out for more inspections. we'll let you know what happens. ilana gold, cbs 2 news. now to a developing story out of afghanistan. a u.s. soldier has been killed and several others injured in a series of attacks in kabul yesterday. the wave of attacks left at least 40 people dead and more than 300 injured. the taliban claimed responsibility for at least two bombings. crews are expected to resume their search for a kayaker. the sheriff's office said a kayak carrying a man and woman cab sized in the hudson river near historic hills mansion in staatsburg. 23-year-old tali fruchtmann was picked up but ian jones disappeared. the two were not wearing life jackets. police are looking for a man who groped a woman on a subway this past friday. this is the man they want to talk to.

a woman was on the platform at the atlantic subway station in park slope, brooklyn, when she saw this man touching himself in front of her. he then boarded the train with her and proceeded to grab her from behind. the woman took this picture of him and gave it to the police. in brooklyn, surveillance video captured these images of a man who attempted to rape a woman on her way home. investigators say he approached the woman on 16th street in sunset park and asked him to let her into a building. when she refused he exposed himself and pushed her to the ground. the suspect ran away when the woman screamed. a queens mom is facing second degree further charges in the death of her baby. according to sources, 21-year-old rashida choudhury confessed to throwing her 19-day-old son out of a fourth story window saying she believed he was possessed.

a neighbor found his body and called 911. a brooklyn couple is facing charges after they locked their two daughters in a car while they gambled in queens. dave carlin has more from kew gardens. >> facing a judge here at queens criminal court, these parents put their desire to gamble ahead of their children's welfare. >> reporter: these sisters spent much of the day at the 106th precinct station house. in handcuffs were 33-year-old maria loha and 34-year-old segndo japa. investigators say late friday night the couple gambled at the resorts world casino in the queens and put their daughters at risk. witnesses say it was close to midnight and the girls were left in the back seat of the family's suv in the parking lot. police estimate for about an hour. >> it is unbelievable that a parent could be so irresponsible to put their pleasures before the welfare of the kid.

>> how do you do something like that? your child, you're supposed to be with them 24/7 to make sure they're safe. >> reporter: a security guard spotted the girls in the suv and called the cops. the family's neighbors in bushwick, brooklyn, say they're surprised. >> they're usually with their kids, and her husband. i didn't think she would leave them to gamble. >> reporter: the sisters were examined by the doctors at jamaica hospital and they're okay. they're in the child protective services custody. >> in kew gardens, queens, dave carlin, cbs 2 news. -- emotions running high as residents mark the one-year anniversary of the death of michael brown. the shooting by a police officer sparked weeks of unrest. don champion has more on what has changed since brown's death. >> reporter: surrounded by

family members, michael brown's father laid teddy bears at the site where his was killed. >> he's still with us. >> reporter: wearing t-shirts bearing his picture and the words "chosen for change." the brown family led a four and a half mile march to normandy high school where the teen had graduated. hundreds took part walking along west avenue where violence and looting rocked the community in the weeks and months following brown's death. the white police officer responsible was cleared of any wrongdoing. >> we don't believe things like this should happen in america. >> reporter: this man brought his grandson to the march. >> what do you tell him? >> i tell him to remain who he is. we try to teach him to respect police. >> in the year since brown's killing the city of ferguson has made changes. >> reporter: officials hired an interim police chief who is

pelted the plane causing serious damage. >> this was the scariest 10 minutes of my life. >> reporter: passengers in photos of delta flight 1889 tell the same story. one passenger posted on twitter the pilot deserved a bonus for saving their lives. the plane was flying from boston to salt lake city. you see, when it hit nebraska it hit a major storm. >> we can see the shattered windshield from the window. we could see the nose of the plane was missing. it was intense. >> reporter: hail hit the nose, windshield and the engines of the airbus a320. the pilots were able to make a safe emergency landing at the nearest airport in denver. >> one person on the plane went to the hospital with minor injuries while other passengers boarded another flight to salt like city. the federal aviation administration is looking into what happened. incredible they were able to land with the damage.

elliott says we're in for a nice day outside. many residents in rockville center are disgusted by their tap water. >> it is brown and murky. the town says the main water tower is being renovated and its filtration system can't be used. it is using an older tower that causes discoloration due to its age. the water department hopes to have the repairs completed in the next couple of weeks which will allow engineers to flush out the system. the town says the water is safe to drink in the meantime and to bathe in. 6:24. a local community says graffiti is on the rise and they have a way to fight it. what shoes to keep, which ones to toss. we give you a sneak-peek of the trends you will see on store shelves. this is cbs 2 thus sunday morning.

should take care of and they're not. >> and new york city is ordering all business building owners to inspect their cooling towers in the next 14 days, and if this doesn't happen they could be fined thousands of dollars. live in the melrose section of the bronx, ilana gold. crews are expected to look for a missing kayaker in dutchess county. a kayak carrying a man and woman capsized near historic hills mansion in staatsburg. a passing broet picked up the woman, 22-year-old tali fruchtmann but the man disappeared. he's identified as 32-year-old ian jones. the two were not wearing life jackets. new information a queens mom is facing second-degree murder charges in the death of her nooub baby. according to police sources, rashida choudhury confessed yesterday to throwing her 19-day-old son out of a fourth-story window saying she

believed he was possessed. a neighbor found his body. the infant died of blunt impact injuries and had skull fractures. a new jersey woman is in critical condition after her husband allegedly shot her eight times when he found out she filed for divorce. the woman identify mark harrison as her shooter after the police found her bleeding in her jersey city home. the three children were not home at the time of the shooting. a man hunt is under way for two accused serial rapists. the police released the photos of isiah rivera and 26-year-old joey cruz on the right. they raped at least three women. the last reported incident was this past tuesday when the police say one of them agreed to meet a woman at her apartment. she was maced and raped by three men including rivera and cruz. the third man is in custody. a sad update on a dolphin discovered in a new jersey river. marine workers said it died

after it got stuck in shallow water half way to the raritan river in old bridge. rescuers took the bottle nosed dolphin out of the water to be tested. in long island a setback for one town's efforts to crack down on graffiti. they ended getting kicked off the property when they tried to clean up the property. dana tyler has the story. >> reporter: minutes after the workers began covering up graffiti a news conference called by the supervisor angie carpenter was suddenly broken up by security guards. >> we request to remove this graffiti. >> reporter: the town received permission to clean up the property, carpenter said. >> it was a private trail that the people in that neighborhood

used to walk in. they were upset about the graffiti so we responded. >> reporter: the public relations mixup announced that have anti-graffiti trucks targeting the handiwork. >> three years ago we practically wiped out all of the graffiti but they started walls. >> what were the messages. >> death threats. >> reporter: town workers say businesses are targeted by gangs hanging out overnight while the businesses are closed. but photograph feet tee has begun showing up in neighborhoods, too. it calls it an insult to neighbors. >> they put a lot of labor into it. whether it is people doing construction on it or doing it themselves. >> reporter: residents in islip can call for the town truck to clean up free of charge any

led up five runs including inning. hopefully this is not a sign of what is to come. 5-4 the final. lead in the division for the games. yankees against david price who over his last 6 starts in the bronx was 4-0 with 2-1 six era. this is it's yankees offense. ivan nova had his good stuff. curved ball to work through first five innings. something happened in the sixth because he loaded the bases and threw his last curve ball of the game. justin smoak's grand slam makes it 4-0. and since the addition of troy tulowitzki, the blue jays made five and a half games on the yankees. 6-0 shut-out. blue jays get to win and they're within two-a half games of division league.
