now we can officially say as you heard john say, it is now a heat wave that is new this summer, but 90 degree heat and rising humidity, well, that's not new at all. >> a dangerous combination of heat and humidity is forecasted once again. >> being in a three piece suit is a little rough for me, but going to the beach would be perfect. >> i really hate it. >> why? >> i don't like the summer. >> we've already had 9 days where temperatures were above 90 degrees. we didn't get thee of those 90 degree days in a row we couldn't call them a heat wave. in fact the last official heat wave in new york city was in july of 2013. but people we spoke to say they don't mind battling through another one. >> i'll go to the beach if it is really, really hot and miserable i'd like to sneak inside and try to find something i had to do i didn't want to do when it was nice like this and do it inside air- conditioning.

live this afternoon from lower manhattan, cbs 2 news. the boyfriend accused of stabbing morgan freeman's granddaughter to death has been charged with murder. staying he stabbed her multiple times sunday morning, happened in front of their apartment at west 162nd street in washington heights, had studied acting and taught underprivileged youth in memphis, neighbors say davenport appeared crazed. >> heard the guy say something about devil be gone, or jesus, and god and i said, ut oh, i watched somebody get murdered. in a statement morgan freeman said, the world will never know her artistry and talent how much she had to offer her star will continue to shine bright in our thoughts and prayers. a man hunt underway, police say the man broke into the home in the middle of the night, we

have this report. >> reporter: now warning the public to be on alert for 32- year-old daniel. >> police are looking for this suspect have you ever seen him before? >> gnome. >> police -- nope. >> in connection with the sexual assault of the port richardson neighborhood in staten island. >> wow! >> alarming for torres, she has two granddaughters around the same age. >> it is very disturbing. i feel violated and it didn't even happen to me. >> investigators tell us the crime happened thursday august 6th. they say at 3:00 in the morning he snuck into a home through ab unlooked back door went into the child's bedroom. >> to have the nerve to break into someone's home and my god, that's horrific. >> police say after the complete stranger allegedly sexually assaulted her, he tried to leave the property, but authorities tell us the victim's relatives noticed him running off and thought it was suspicious.

so they went after him and held him down until police showed up. >> officers took him into custody on a trespassing charge, they claim at the time the girl's family didn't know the extent of his supposed crime. >> i can't even imagine seriously, i can't. >> police say the victim from this neighborhood came forward with the allegations the next night. but here is the problem, he was already out of custody on that trespassing charge and detectives have been trying to track him down ever since. >> that is really crazy. >> so police want everyone locking their doors and windows. >> i just put alarm on my windows and stuff within the past two or three days i'm glad that i've done that. >> right now they need to find this suspect before he possibly targets someone else. in staten island. >> police say they believe they have no connection to the suspect. >> investigators are still trying to determine what caused a deadly plane crash in new jersey.

the 50-year-old pilot died when crashed. authorities say the pilot radioed the control towers saying he could not maintain power. the pilot has not been identified, no one else was on >> another deadly plane crash this one on long island is under investigation, the plane crashed on to the long island railroad tracks bursts into flames around 8:00 sunday morning the pilot was killed the soul passengerred identified was ejected from the aircraft and survived. investigators say the pilot reported having difficulty maintaining altitude before the crash. coming up, a bomb kills at least a dozen people in a popular tourist destination in thailand. the fierily blast injured dozens more. and out of control flames

burning forcing thousands to evacuate one woman died when she tried to escape. cbs 2 was there as the flames surrounded one community. >> severe doubt and scorching heat have turned much of the u.s. into a tender box. central washington, crews are struggling to control several wildfires. at least 6 have surrounded the city, where 1500 people have been forced to evacuate. >> the sheriff is coming around get out now, get out now, get out now. close to 50 homes have already been destroyed and that number could skyrocket. >> pretty scary i've never seen a fire storm travel this fast. >> more than 700 firefighters have poured into the area. armed with air tankers dumping fire retardant. >> it was a panic zone, still we had enough time people coming up and just telling us hey man, it is heading your way get out.
