hotels right here in the city. here's what we know, today jared fogle is expected to plead guilty. prosecutors say there are at least 14 alleged victims. fogle will serve jail time. >> dave is live in the news room with more. >> reporter: the plea deal means at least 5 years and as many as 12 behind bars. fogle confessed to a sex act with a minor and receiving child porn. >> jared fogle's plea agreement reveals the former subway sitman traveled to new york city to pay for sex with minors. on november 3rd, 2012 he paid a 17-year-old girl who he found online to engage in sex acts while at the plaza hotel in manhattan. >> several months later the documents say he paid her while staying at the ritz carlton. the document said fogle texted the girl and offered to pay her a fee if she could find him another underage girl, asking

her to provide him with access to minors as young as 14. >> pleading guilty to sex with minors is not all. he also admitted he received child pornography from russell taylor, charity. taylor was arrested in april for producing child pornography and possessing it. taylor attempted suicide a week after his arrest and remains in federal custody. hours searching fogle's home. >> he was a private neighbor for the most part. we didn't see him outside too much. >> on that day subway suspended its relationship with fogle and yesterday they said we no longer have a relationship with jared and have no comment. >> he talk ed about going from 425 pounds down to 180. tv ads and a long-term contract made him a star worth millions.

>> i lost 245 pounds and kept it off. >> fogle will pay 14 victims $100,000 each. >> reporter: just in the last half hour fogle's wife issued this statement it reads, obviously i'm extremely shocked and disappointed by the recent developments involving jared. i'm in the the process of seeking a dissolution of the marriage. as part of the plea jared fogle must register as a sex offender. dave carlin, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. a disturbing discovery at a hotel has police searching for a family. a worker found a baby locked inside a room safe. meg baker has the details. >> reporter: the big question is how a baby got locked in the safe in the first place. now police are looking for the family possibly from brooklyn after they left the hotel. >> an infant rescued from a locked safe. this all took place at the howard johnson

hotel by the falls in niagra falls early tuesday morning. >> the panicked parents alerted safe their child was locked in the safe. a maintenance worker came in and was able to unlock the safe. the baby was alert and crying when the safe was opened. >> it's unknown how long the baby had been locked in the safe. police believe the baby is less than a year old and small enough to fit in the safe that's about 19 inches wide, 13 inches hall and 16 inches deep. >> once hotel staff realized how serious this was they contacted police. by then the parents left with the baby. >> police now do not know where they are. >> people like that should be locked in a safe like they locked their baby in a safe. it's sickening. >> according to police the room was registered to a person with an address from brooklyn, driving a gray ford passenger van with new jersey plates b31eub. canada and u.s. officials have been notified to be on the look out. >> reporter: now, police do not

believe the family crossed the border back into the u.s. they say the number one priority is to make sure that baby is safe. mary. >> meg, thank you. a warning for seen ing -- seniors visiting the coney island board walk. a snatch and grab robber has been targeted older men taking their jewelry. hazel sanchez has more from coney island. hazel. >> reporter: we're on the board walk right now where a lot of retirees like to socialize, exercise and re lax. now a lot of them are putting up their guard after a number of ride by robberies. >> 76-year-old marina walks the coney island board walk every day but does so with extreme caution. >> it's not so good. twice my husband was beat here. maybe 15, 16 years old the boys were. >> she said she's not surprised

to hear about the man in this photo who police say has been targeting local men in their 60, 70s and 80s robbing them of their gold jewelry. >> they don't want to work these people and just do crime and that's it. >> you don't see no cops. i think whoever is doing this knows what he's doing. >> police say since july 3rd the man in this surveillance photo has robbed at least six people on and near the board walk in coney island and brighton beach. the suspect approaches the victims on his bike and snatches their necklaces or bracelets. >> that's terrible. >> people who live near by say the police need to patrol the area more often. >> it's people that can't do anything. that's when the police need to step in. they have to protect property and life and a combination of both, it should be a high priority.

>> reporter: we did reach out to the nypd about the public's concern for what they say is a lack of police patrol. we are still waiting to hear back from police. we hope to have their response and more information on this investigation coming up tonight on cbs 2 news at 6:00. for now live on coney island, hazel sanchez, cbs 2 news. new information as the nypd captures is suspect who escaped while still handcuffed. they found austin stevenson this morning in brooklyn. on sunday he was taken into custody for criminal trespass charges. police say he pushed an officer and took off. in june surveillance video captured a handcuffed suspect running from harlem detective and that man was found a month later. it's another scorcher outside this afternoon. today it's less about the heat and more about the humidity. john elliott is in the weather center. >> very sticky situation, mary. let's talk about the dew point . you know when it's at 50 it's comfortable. you start to feel that humidity at 60.

in attendance for the next court appearance on august 31st. i just stepped out of the federal courtroom where tom brady's attorney made a argument, a number of attacks on the commissioner's authority saying his power is not limitless, he does admit he has broader power in personal conduct issues but the deflate scandal was an he argued nobody told the players they could be finished for knowing about wrong doing. the kicker also refused to turn over his cell phone and text messages. he wasn't penalized. most importantly, the league's collective bargaining agreement is covered by new york law and federal labor laws. oral arguments will continue today. the new report does say that tom brady will accept some form of
