live in lower manhattan withdetails this noon. commissioner bill bratten, who he said is embarrassing he says a police officer who was supposed to be guarding the woman here walked away to go to the restroom when she got out of her handcuffs and escaped. the nypd still looking for this woman, 23-year-old tiffany newman of the bronx saying she escaped at new york presbyterian hospital at 10:00 last night. the initial problem started on the upper west side, she ordered food at the high life bar at 83rd and amsterdam, she said she was sick and left without paying, then four doors down police arrested her for allegedly stealing merchandise, we talked to the clerk who said she saw everything. >> she had stuffed clothes up her shirt and said no i'm pregnant.

>> sources tell us newman claims she needed medical care that she was pregnant and bruised. so offices took her to this hospital in hand cuffs and stayed on site during an exam. after a doctor left the room, newman took off her ground and put on nurse's scrubs and walked out of the hospital without anyone noticing. >> i will not tolerate these continued lapsing in what should be basic policing for prisoner. so the penalties being imposed was derelict going to be very significant. police say they've learned newman is not pregnant, telling us she made up the story to avoid facing a judge. it is the fourth time a prisoner has escaped nypd custody since june. the incidents involving these three men happened in harlem and east harlem the suspects have since then caught. >> that's looking real bad on the still. >> so again police are still trying to track down tiffany
