me. two of those suspects barricaded themselves inside a building on west runyon. just within the last 30 minutes as you can see from chopper 2 those two suspects taken into custody after the swat team and police surrounded the building. their hands were up. they get on the ground. this dramatic event after these two suspects police say and four others went on a morning crime spree. first, carjacking a silver jaguar. we know that a victim was shot, not sure what the condition or at what crime scene because police say the suspects committed a number of felonies and robberies. one of the suspects we have been told by police is dead during a police pursuit and the five others are all in custody. >> subsequent to that they received other calls involving that same car. >> a police pursuit and after

that police are reporting that it appeared that during the pursuit the individual jumped out of the car while the car was moving. >> what plan do you have, director, to combat the crime? >> we put the plan out already. we had 115 police officer s out here. that's why we were able to make an apprehension today. >> reporter: now, back at the scene a dramatic event. a woman appears to be running away from the building. again, those two suspects taken into custody here at the scene. three others were taken into custody during that police pursuit. now, investigators tell me that they have video in those police cars and they will be reviewing it to determine how police conducted themselves. we are live in newark, kristine sloan, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. another suspect capture ed -- captured. >> police caught a suspect on the run after escaping police custody.

hazel sanchez has more live from tribeca. >> reporter: suspect tiffany neumann is being held under police watch. she had been on the run since sunday night and was finally busted this morning at a relative's house on the upper west side. >> for just more than a day 23-year-old tiffany neumann eluded police. sunday night while in police custody at the hospital in lower manhattan she slipped out of her handcuffs in an exam room when the officer took a bathroom break. she was under arrest for running out of her bill at this restaurant and stealing clothes. >> neumann told police she was pregnant and not feeling well and that's how she landed in the hospital. she wasn't expecting a child and wasn't who police told police she was. >> she stole my identity. >> this is the kristine figaredo.

she called cbs 2 in a panic sunday night after hearing her name reported on the 11:00 news. she lost her id and somehow it landed in tiffany neumann's hands. >> she has all of my information. i'm worried she will come here. i don't know who she knows and what she's about. yeah, that's probably my worst fear. >> police finally nabbed neumann and she was approaching her aunt's house on the upper west side. she's the fourth prisoner to escape nypd custody since june. the officer responsible is suspended. >> i will not tolerate these continued collapses in what should be basic policing, the care and custody of a prisoner. >> reporter: get this, police say that neumann actually went bar hopping shortly after she escaped. she managed to make some new friends, stole a woman's phone and credit card and used that credit card to take a cab, buy some cigarette, candy and head phones and than

tried to buy some clothes at forever 21 but the card was declined. we're live, hazel sanchez, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. a bronx woman speak s about the driver who she said mowed her down. the man was caught on camera getting out of his car and driving away. dave carlin is live in the bronx with the exclusive interview. dave. >> reporter: mary, it was a back up hit and run that was caught on this grocery store surveillance camera right here. let me show you the street, jackson avenue, it's right over here. a lot of double parked trucks at the moment. the women was hit on this avenue and then spoke to us about the driver who got away. >> a heartless crime caught on surveillance video. police released it to get justice for the woman crossing jackson avenue around 10:30 a.m. on august 19th. here you see the gray honda back up right into her. >> i was excited that day. i was going to go see my grandson. never made it.

>> on the video it appears the driver does the right thing walking over but she's on the ground and he's not helping. instead he's telling her she's okay. >> he said she's okay and to get up and told me it was my fault. >> he said he's not interested in helping her. >> what is he doing there? >> he was telling someone he hit me. i just hit a woman and i guess he was going to see her and he was going to be late. yeah. >> didn't call 911? >> no, he did not. he didn't care for life . he just walked away. >> and got in his car and drove away. >> the way he treated me i can't forgive him. i have can't believe there's people still out there like that. i'm going into therapy right now. i have a lot of scrapes and bruises, my knee is still swollen but i'm alive. >> reporter: doctors say she has a torn ligament in that leg. dave carlin, cbs 2 news.

more than a dozen people are homeless after a fast moving fire ripped through a row of homes in the bronx on brian avenue. a fire started in a garage and spread. one firefighter was treated for spoke inhalation, no one else was hurt. after a new scare involving legionnaires bacteria another upper west side school was open today. more on the steps the school is taking to get ready for the students. >> do you have any concerns about the legionella bacteria? >> if there was any fear about the legionella bacteria found at the convent of sacred heart school faculty didn't show it offering little comment. >> you can speak to craig mcpherson. >> the all girl's catholic school shut down to faculty after the bacteria was found in a cooling tower. pre-k through

12th grade classes are house in two historic landmark visions. >> the school e-mailed a letter to school and staff and said they closed this weekend to irradiate the back -- bacteria. >> there's now hue routine testing. it's common to be found in small concentrations it was here. this summer it killed more than a dozen people and making more than 100 others sick after an out break in the south bronx. >> everyone should be concerned, right? >> at convent of the sacred heart administrators told parents they disinfected twice. dawn bowland said it still makes her uneasy. >> i'm a teacher as well. they've done all the right things necessary to make sure everyone is safe, that's the concern. >> under the new guidelines comment of the sacred heart and all other buildings will be

required to be inspected every 90 days. the health department has given the school to reopen next week. >> health officials say that unlike the upper east side the legionella bacteria is found in high concentrations in the bronx causing the out break. the state department has released more than 7,000 pages of hilary clinton's e-mails from her time as secretary of state. it's the latest chapter into the investigation. a controversy is taking a toll on her presidential campaign. >> the most notable e-mails in the latest batch from hilary clinton's private server are the ones the state department couldn't fully release. as many as 150 sensors ahead of their release monday because they contain classified information. the former secretary of state maintained the messages were not seen as sensitive at the time even if they are now. >> it doesn't change the fact that i did not send or receive material marked classified. >> the e-mails show clinton

definition in the crowds. there's an alert for new jersey due to the ozone. again, a sign of the season too. 84 in the city right now. around the area it's warmer in edison, 87, 86 in the hamptons. likely a few of the reporting stations will hit heat wave we're 1 degree warmer in the city but elsewhere it feels a little bit better. dew we still have dew points in the 60s. that means it's still plenty humid. if we hit 90 that's 10 degrees above normal and it would be our second heat wave of the season. sunsets at 7:29. if we hit 9 #0 0 today and then 91 tomorrow and them 92 on thursday that is unusual looking forward in the sense of september usually isn't that warm. only once in the last 20 years have we had three or more 90 or 90 plus degree days in the month of september. a sign of the

heirloom a lad but what about an heirloom pasta? >> yesterday's salad can be today's pasta. >> the tomatoes are coming in beautiful still. the window is getting shorter, about three or four more weeks. when you buy the heirloom tomatoes make sure they're nice and bright. put them on the counter and after that forget it. they will start to break down because they're picked with all the sugar already there. you have some in there. >> what i said was yesterday's salad is today's pasta. if you have anything left over from your salad you can make a lunch out of it. we had those tomatoes. i like to cut them rustically. i don't want them to look uniform in the pan. i want them to be fun and nice. we have those in here with just a little bit of pasta. we're going to take a generous amount of basil and drop it in. you're going to let all those flavors
