have a good looking weekend ahead. to our top story one of the city's busiest train line will be shut down. >> riders must find other ways to get around. alana gold joins us with more, alana. >> reporter: andrea, this shut down is impacting thousands who ride the subway on the west side the one trains are not running starting here at west 242ened street at riverdale to lower manhattan a lot of people aren't happy about it. you can't miss the warning signs posted at the one train subway stops all weekend the entire line in both directions had shut down between riverdale and the south ferry because of major construction. >> how does that affect your weekend? >> horribly i'm late for work and backed up two hours behind. >> we caught up with her trying to get to the upper east side. >> now i don't know what to do,

and more time i'll wait for the shuttle. the mta made free shuttles available, they run between several stops but some say the experience has been frustrating. take a shuttle, need to wait like 15 minutes. for those who have to get around subway riders have other options the 2 and 3 trains are running between chambers and 96th street, take the near by a and c trains as well as the m-3 and m-100 buses. crews repaining the brick arches, also fixing up the tracks and working to rebuild the track station. i'm willing to take a hit in the summer, in the winter let's let it keep running. while they agree the improvements are critical many are impatient. i don't know when they'll

finish with construction, it's been years that they do this it is a little annoying. back out here live where you can see the shuttles waiting to pick up computers. the one trains will start running again at 5:00 on monday morning. we're live in riverdale. clinton new jersey, interstate 78 is closed in bothdirections between 17 and 24. state police say they are looking for a person possibly involved in a crime. also happening now a major crash shut down part of the long island expressway. all eastbound lanes from exit 46 to exit 48 are chosed they have been for hours at least four cars are reportedly involved we're not sure how many people may be injured and no word as well when those lanes will reopen. arizona police are warning drivers to be on alert despite an arrest in connection with freeway shootings in the phoenix area.

there may be copycats police arrested 21-year-old leslee allen, a suburb west of phoenix, at least eleven vehicles have been hit by bullets and other objects along interstate 10 luckily no one has been seriously injured. a brooklyn man suspected of meeting women and murdering them, arrested yesterday on murder charges police say he is tied to two other violent sexualassaults, one was found in a hotel on west 38th street. there was a certain pattern he went through doing these crimes, consistent throughout all four, i'm glad we got him off the street and prevented possibly another rape victim. charged in another woman's death found on july 23rd in

burg, has prior arrests for drugs, robbery and kidnapping. happening today one of new york's finist will be honored ata street renaming ceremony after losing his life in a fire last year. the officer died from smoke inhalation three days after responding to a fire in the cooney houses, his partner recovered from her injuries the event will get underway this morning at 11:00, the police commissioner and other officials are expected to attend. happening today pope francis will land in havana cuba in just a few hours, the pope left rome for the north american journey. hundreds of cuban americans are expected to join the pontiff for his first visit to the caribbean nation. the pope played a significant roll in helping the u.s. and cuba form a diplomatic relationship. he is the first latin american pope and his trip to cuba will be closely watched.

olive oil significantly reduce the likelihood of breast cancer. cpr is the lifesaver for those suffering from a heart attack. the more people who do it the more lives that can be saved that's why schools nationwide are now teaching cpr. two years ago gracy sing suffered a cardiac arrest during her bath her mom didn't know cpr but her big sister learned it two years earlier. i was pushing through my mom and i started just doing cpr. >> lucky that she did. the american heart association is marking a major milestone, more than 1.5 million teens will be trained as part of the school curriculum each year. became the 26th state to pass legislation mandating it as a high school requirement. health instructor teaches hands on cpr to students at this washington d.c. high school.

>> they notice that if they did not have the correct hand position, that they had to readjust, they noticed how tiring it can be which it could be tiring as if you actually are doing cpr on sun. >> more than 300,000 people go into cardiac arrest outside a hospital each year. only 10% survive because they don't get cpr before paramedics arrive. chloe says cpr is something everyone should learn. >> if it happens to their family members they should know how to do it. >> the american heart association has a hands only cpr app available for free on iphone and android devices tells you what to do if you haven't gotten formal training turns out it is not that hard to save a life. dr. max gomez, cbs 2 news. the heart association says bystander cpr can double or triple survival rates if given

the right way, training only takes a couple hours. it is nice to see they are starting to teach it in school. a pennsylvania mom set out to teach her son a college freshman a lesson about calling home. she called him out on social media and now that video has gone viral. >> when you're in you're dorm, you lay there and think, wow, i wonder who fed me for the first 18 years of my life? well, i don't want to brag, that was me. >> she posted this me message for her son liam, he has only called home once, it was to ask his dad to mail his video games the mom said he gave her a call after posting the video. how embarrassing for him. he did call home mission accomplished right, mom? time now 9:15. time to check in with vanessa

where we're going all downhill from here. normal high is 74. thursday it was 89 yesterday 87 today 83, then tomorrow i'll have 78 with that cold front moving on through behind that cold front much cooler air monday we're at 74. so your question might be, are we done with the 80s done with the warm weather? i say no, i don't think so here is why. took a look at the last days over the past several years that we've had an 80 degree day last year it was september 28th the latest we've seen in the recent years 80 degree day was october 10th, been incredibly warm this month, so i suspect we'll be seeing more of those 80 degree temps not passed today for in the near future. big bubble of high pressure kept us high and dry all weekend long, a very warm and sunny stretch that changes late today into the day tomorrow, cold front moving on through will increase the clouds later

may be a few showers across the region certainly not looking like a wash out early on i don't think there is any need to cake your plans by afternoon dryer cooler air is diving on in it is going to be a beautiful end to your weekend we're also watching this area of low pressure, there is the suggestion by a few models that this will dampen the workweek forecast from the midweek to week's end. during the pope's visit some models want to say hey we're going to see some rain the majority of the models say we'll stay dry, we'll be watching this area of low pressure for impacts later this week, that will be making an impact sunshine more clouds later on 4:00 you can see the suggestion may a few showers on the jersey shore. thickening clouds over night maybe a few showers early tomorrow morning not that impressive by afternoon skies are clearing lovely, 70s and breezy with low humidity tomorrow night.

is restore 1 billion live oysters, to do that with the students, and about 45 other middle schools to restore new york harbor. one of the limiting resources is oyster shells millions of oyster shells coming out every year, will be land filled we work to reclaim those shells and we're collecting the shells so it will be i think 8,000 oysters we'll be able to save from the landfill. and restore to new york harbor. so important? >> they are the sub street the oysters grow on, they prefer oyster shells, and yeah without the shells the oysters and the harbor swim around when they look for something hard to settle on they settle object muck and die. we're trying to put the oyster shells back.

taxi driver, last month police found 57-year-old imad dead in his cab on bedford street. police say 20-year-old nethanial young shot and killed the resident during a robbery. yesterday his bail was set at $1 million. the kentucky clerk who refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses could be facing some new legal trouble. the attorney for one of kim davis' employee says they believe she has violated a federal court order in a court filing they say she altered marriage license forms and requiring them to be notarized. davis released from jail that she not interfere as they issue marriage licenses. to an exclusive a new jersey woman says a drone fell right on top of her house, jane white says she was outside talking to a friend thursday night when she saw the object flying by. then she says it landed near the top of her fire escape. >> i was looking up in the sky

and we saw the drone actually like, up there and then when i came back around the corner i heard it crash. >> the owner of the drone called police admitting what had happened, no one was hurt. starting monday the u.s. will no longer screen travelers from liberia for ebola. saying the deadly virus is no longer spreading in the west african country, but they'll screen passengers as they leave the country, the u.s. will screen travelers from guinea andsierra leone. and the 16-year-old was killed in a boating accident with another teenager at the boat's controls. cbs 2 spoke with emily's parents. >> it is hard, just really hard. we miss her a lot. >> they have bravely faced the pain that no parent should ever endure, the loss of their 16- year-old daughter emily who was killed last year in a boating accident. >> she was a bright light and we still feel her spirit like

she is definitely part of our lives still. >> emily was tubing in the waters last summer the propeller of their boat operated by a 16-year-old struck and killed elly and seriously injured another girl, the accident inspired the family to fite for the passage of emily's law the bill signed by the governor raises the minimum age to tow in connecticuit from 13 to 16, it requires a safety course be completed after a boating certificate can be issued. when i read about emily's accident her passing, it was moving. but i could not have imagined in that early coverage, your the event. started the foundation in emily's name giving out bracelets despite their pain they'd like to continue to bring meaning to all of this they want to promote better safe boating laws not here in

our daughter has been with us every step. we believe that you know she is guiding us and she was a very loving and caring person we're trying to imlate her. cbs 2 news. the bill also prohibits a boat owner from allowing someone under the age of 6 to drive a boat while towing a water skier. a woman hurt by a fallen tree limb inside brian park is reportedly suing the city. columbia university grad student fractured her arm when a 25-foot tree snapped in two and fell on her earlier this month. her lawyer says portions of the tree are still in the park. four ors were also injured but this is the first legal action related to this incident. school students throughout our area are doing their best to make the pope feel welcome when he visits new york in five days.
