one person is still unaccounted for after a deadly explosion rocked a broken -- a brooklyn neighborhood. at brush -- a bus crashes into a house and hit several cars along the way. cbs to -- cbs-2 starts now. good morning on this sunday macedo. >> i am andrea grymes and high the coast.

wildwood new jersey where the powerful -- wildwood, new jersey where a powerful way up picked up this home and swept it into the bay.>> there are still concerns and meteorologist, vanessa murdock , has the latest. basely -- basically there will be more coastal bend and flooding along the shore. -- windy -- coastal wind and flooding along the shore. there will be improvement today. we will still be on the cool side and we expect stray showers and even some breaks of sun this afternoon. the coast is the area of concern for the second half of the weekend. we have coastal flooding alerts through the weekend. a warning for the jersey shore and those persistent winds.

will be around 1:00 and between 1:00 and 4:00, those are the high tides around the region. the hamptons will warm to 56. monticello at 45 right now. we have clouds, but rain is not falling. there may be a stray shower. otherwise we will warm to around 61 degrees this afternoon. an improvement today and it is still windy. wind gusts will be 35-40 mph. we have a big improvement as we head into the workweek. breaking news and queens as police search for the driver who killed a pedestrian and flushing.

crossing dams mariano country risk -- contreras was hit as he was crossing the street. person still missing after a deadly blast in brooklyn. >> one person was killed and several were injured after a fiery explosion blew off the entire front of the building. alana goldberg is live with more.>> reporter: this morning investigators don't know what caused this explosion. police are guarding the building because the structure is so unstable. you can see the damage is extensive and debris scattered across the sidewalk. at this point, we are told the woman from the building is unaccounted for. when the sun comes up, crews will search to see if she is

here. the explosion at this building blew the front of the structure right off. bricks, concrete and metal became projectiles. in the cell phone video, you can see this -- the flames set of by the blast.>> everything was coming down.>> reporter: people started running for cover after the explosion at 1:00 yesterday afternoon. an unidentified woman was found in the stairwell and two men and a child were found on the >> they were coming home from kid.>> reporter: this is what the building used to look like with businesses on the first floor and apartments above it. now it is unrecognizable. investigators say the problems started on the first floor. >> we are told the tenants

there purchased a high-end stove that was their own stove. they were moving out of the apartment and they were going to take the stove with them. of force, to take the stove with you, that entails disconnecting the gas line. >> reporter: despite the indication that this was a gas explosion, nobody reported smelling the gas before the incident. >> we emphasize that if you smell gas to call 911. we know that into many cases that people have not done it in the past.>> reporter: again, it is still unclear what led to this. we can tell you that eric adams is proposing new gas safety measures after the explosion. we will let you know what he has to pay -- what he has to say.

cbs-2 news. you may recall in the east village that a blast killed two people wear and someone illegally tapped into a gas line. in march 2014, i guess leak level ii buildings and east harlem. and mta bus crashed into a house in harlem. it was traveling on guy brewer boulevard last night when it hit a car moving in the opposite direction. the bus then hit two mack parked cars and [ null ] -- two parts cars and/-- and smashed into a house. ,50 -- 50-year- old joel ortiz died when a boat capsized off the coast of brooklyn. five people will on -- were on board when rough twin tip the boat over. police also rescued a third man

who was treated for minor injuries. a woman accused of punching a 10-year-old boy in the bronx is now under arrest. just fire richards was arrested -- josiah richards was arrested for pitching -- punching the boy and a norwood deli. woods was annoyed with the boy because of how we asked for a plastic bag. a shootout with police after a gunman killed nine people and injured nine more. 16-year-old cheyenne fitzgerald lost a kidney.>> it hit her back went through her long and lodged in her kidney -- her long -- lung and lodged in her kidney. she is starting to remember the events and what happened and

said that he wrote -- that he black men and he was going to go out in a blaze of glory. in afghanistan doctors without borders said at least 19 people were killed including three repeatedly bombed. it is unclear who bombed the building, but u.s. forces were conducting an airstrike in the area targeting insurgents. yogi berra will be honored at a memorial service in new jersey. and little falls they will have musical performers and members of the berra family. berra died on september 22 and was 90 years old. this cathedral -- the cathedral of st. john the divine will have blessing of the animals.

absolutely no choice whatsoever. an address to the human rights campaign in dc last night. he said that transgender people should be allowed to serve in the military. the search continues for a cargo ship that ran into hurricane joaquin and became disabled. the coast guard found in life and from that ship yesterday. there were 33 people on board including 28 americans. the ship send out a distress signal saying that it was taking on water and had lost power. right now the category 4 storm is moving eastward bermuda with strong winds and heavy rain. there are reports of many homes destroyed and there has been flooding through the central bahamas. some areas could see as much is 25 inches of rain. at the jersey shore, people are still cleaning up from the severe weather. people are coping with the rising water and fierce wind.

east coast have been flames due to the weather. -- have been blamed on the weather. for us, the forecast is much approved on land. there are still coastal flooding issues, so please play it safe and the wind will be strong again as well. and south carolina, they are being pounded by rain. 16 inches have fallen as of 2:00 this morning. i expect export -- extort flooding their -- historic flooding there. we have 54 degrees and northeast wind at 23 mph and gusts up to 30 along the coast today. especially the jersey shore, gusts could be as high as 50 mph yet. that is where we have the biggest concern for coastal flooding as well. it is still rough at the coast

and you are not out from under the gun just yet. tomorrow, the situation will improve dramatically. there will be rough serfs, but coastal flooding will subside. a quieter week ahead and things look good for the midweek forecast. of course, we have to get through today. here is the latest on hurricane joaquin which is a category 3 hurricane battering down on bermuda right now. you can make it out right here or so. it is getting lashed by the outer bands of the storm. the impact will be storm surge and wind. a life-threatening storm shares -- search is expected on bermuda. they have a rough day -- storm surge is expected on bermuda. they have a rough day ahead. monday and into tuesday, the seas will be rough for us. the storm will take a sharp

cbs-2 news sunday morning continues now. good morning. it is 7:30 on this sunday morning and i am andrea grymes. heavy rain pounded our area and we are not out of the woods just yet. >> take a look at this video from wildwood where powerful waves with tejon off its foundation and swept the home into the bay. vanessa murdock is here with a look at the forecast.>> along the coast we expect high wind, pounding surf and coastal flooding. if you live along the shore, you need to know it will be dicey again today. tomorrow, it starts to improve. things are going in a positive

direction, but we could see issues today. looking at the coastal alerts, for the jersey shore you have a coastal flood warning until tonight. on long island, and advisory until tonight. wind out of the north east and the water is being pushed inland. we could see wind gusts up to 50 mph along the coast. when advisories for portions of ocean county. along the coast, the wind will be cranking and inland the wind will be a little less impressive , but breezy over all. 30 mile-per-hour wind gusts in the city. at the hamptons, 28 mile-per- hour gusts. it will be cool yet again. it is 54 in the city and 45 and monticello. we will struggle to reach 60 today. we expect cloudy skies with breaks of sunshine and possibly spotty showers.

it will be cool and windy and the coast is the biggest area of concern. the full forecast is coming up and we will talk big rake from the turbulent weather. we are following breaking news in queens where police are searching for the driver that struck and killed a pedestrian and flushing. the 41-year-old was crossing college point college point blvd. just after 1:00 this morning when he was hit by a dark colored suv. two men are dead after being shot in park hills. police say the men were involved in some kind of dispute. police are searching for a woman who is still missing after a deadly explosion in brooklyn. >> one person was killed and three others injured after an explosion blew off the front of the building. >> reporter: fire officials and

building inspectors are meeting here at the explosion site. you can see the chief looking at the damage. they are trying to figure out the plan for the day. the problem is that the structure is unstable and they have not been able to get inside to find the cause. one woman is still unaccounted for. it is possible she is at another location, but in a few hours, the crews will reserve their search.>> this building -- the explosion plea the front office building. bricks, -- bricks and metal became projectiles. the flames destroyed everything that was left. people started running for cover seconds after the explosion at 1:00 yesterday afternoon. rescuers were on scene within 30 -- within three minutes and they found one person dead and the stairwell.

still a chilly day on the breezy side. on the coast, it will be windy. some, especially in the hudson say it is a beautiful start the day. it is 53 right now. here is a photo that bruce adams sent us. this was taken from north port. look how rough the surf is at craig meadow beach. along the ocean coast today, we will see waves six 6-8 feet. wind will be gusting to 50 mph and coastal flooding is still a concern. let's take you to the city where it is more peaceful, but gray. we have northwest wind at 23 mph and wind gusts up to 30 mph. things are looking better inland. we have a quieter week ahead

for those looking to play golf. it will be looking good on tuesday, wednesday and thursday. tomorrow will be still a little breezy. rainfall totals two and half inches in brooklyn just over 2 inches. these totals may look impressive, but i think we will be talking about drought despite those numbers. looking at the satellite and radar, we have a little deck of clouds. what will happen this afternoon is the temperatures will take cold and we will get a little more sunshine. in the hudson valley, we will see more sunshine been to the south. things are improving. wet weather making its way through the atlantic and it takes you to south carolina to where we expect historic flooding. in some areas they have already receive 16 inches and that was as of 2 am this morning.

it has been raining cents with no end in sight. with the disturbance off the coast and the moisture coming in from joaquin which is now bearing down on bermuda. a messy situation for the carolinas and it is something we will be watching. then this high pressure takes over and the stationary front moves out to see. that is good news. in the meantime, we will have wind off the water pushing inland. coastal flooding is still a bit concerned during high tide tween 1:00 and 4:00 this afternoon for most of us. this morning, inland things are looking good. at flushing meadows, it will be cool at 54 degrees and breezy. there may be a stray shower during the day, but mostly we stay dryer with sunshine and a high of 61. along the coast, there could be
