on this sunday morning, october 18. vanessa murdock is here with a look at the chilly forecast. it was cold at citi field last night too. temperatures are in the 20s and 30s for us right now. as we go through the day, it will be significantly cooler than yesterday. let's take a look at those temperatures. 24 in sparger -- sparta and freezing in scarsdale at 32. as we look at the wind chill right now, it is slight. feels like 35 in the city. up and monticello, your wind chill is 22 degrees. that is what it feels like out there. certainly very chilly. there are a few clouds, but it will be a sunny day.

42 feels like 37 at 9:00 a.m. under mostly sunny skies. at noon, 48 with a mix of sun and clouds and it will feel like 43. the high today will be 50 near 3:00 with a mix of sunshine and clausen it will feel like 46. tonight at 9:00, it will be 44 and feel like 39. if you are going to the game tonight, bundle up. i will have the full forecast and we will talk about the warm up as we make our way toward midweek. a championship chase. the mets beat the cubs last night in the national league championship series. bringing them one step closer to their first world series in nearly 3 decades. and then reaction. let's start with steve obermeyer who has the recap.>> the wind goes to the mets. -- win goes to the mets.>> reporter: daniel murphy's first home run. he has hit a home rum and first straight preseason games.>> i

tickets are still available and they are being sold for $100 each. alana gold, cbs 2 news. a warehouse fire first road closures in aberdeen, new jersey. the fire started at 48 deck 30 -- 8:30 last night. entrance ramps and exit ramps on 113 had to be close last night as firefighters tried to get the flames under control. no injuries were reported. the body of a missing worker was recovered yesterday. he was 55-year-old danny peters of brooklyn. he was an employee of american petroleum transport of port jefferson. he was climbing down a letter when he fell. now a developing story. violence at the west bank. palestinians clashed with about

pain, we feel pain too. >> reporter: a spokesman said that the mayor considered a trip to the west bank, but it was canceled because of security concerns. a $75,000 or to catch the island house hitting a 12-year- old girl inside. this morning, she remains in grave condition. the police say that she was shot in the head as she stood in the living room of her hempstead home. she is being treated at the hospital as she -- a family keeps vigil at her bedside. the intended target was a young man who had been targeted before. >> he got out of the car and was about to enter the door. they missed him and hit the girl.>> reporter: nassau police are trying to determine if the shooting was gang related.

you can also join us on facebook and twitter. thousands of students on long island may have to find another way to get to school after a major bus company authorized a strike. the final contract offer was rejected. they transport some 15,000 students per day. the union negotiation committee is expected to meet to discuss strike activities. drivers have been instructed to work -- to go to work tomorrow. teaming up with high schools both coaches to teach safe driving. coaches were armed with talking points and posters to talk about teens about distracted driving. meteorologist vanessa murdock is here . i remember to bring in my plans for the first time. it is a good idea.

i was getting into a shower and my hand rubbed over my breast and i had leakage. i was ignorant. men have breasts? yes, many do have breasts -- men do have breasts. i was lucky because they were able to remove it and i didn't have radiation or anything like that.>> reporter: what was your first reaction? >> i was shocked. the doctor got up and grabbed my face and told me i was going to be fine. it is awareness. it is understanding your body.>> reporter: how did you know that you had it as well? >> in 2003, my wife was examining me and she felt a lump. it was a small lump.

three months later, she touched it again and it was bigger. the doctor took it out and then called me and told me it was breast cancer. >> reporter: what was your reaction?>> i couldn't believe it. i went outside and it was like time just stopped. i couldn't hear anything. i went to the va hospital for a second opinion. i went to the va hospital and they did some testing and it came back as breast cancer.>> reporter: how did you get through the experience? >> well, i belong to a great church. my pastor and the congregation prayed. i have a lovely wife that helps me through it. my faith helped me through it. >> reporter: tell me about the

breast cancer coalition. >> rhett miller and his mother peggy and sherry ambrose here in new york are just trying to get the word out. this impacts many men around the world. we are hoping that eventually, when men go through their animals -- go for their annual physicals that breast exams will be a part of it. many doctors don't realize that men get this as well. >> reporter: what issue advice to men? women here that we should be doing regular breast exams, but men should as well.>> the youngest be diagnosed was 17. i've spoken in front of his many as 900 young people down in dallas and i told them to tell their fathers and grandfathers and in email they know to do regular checks to

reporter: what is going on this week? >> this week i will be speaking at the hospital in brooklyn. i will be the guest speaker on male breast cancer. then i will share with men at my church about the importance of getting checked out and making sure your health is okay. >> reporter: how was your help today?>> i can do the walk. i am not going to do it this year, but i can do it.>> reporter: what about you? >> i am doing great and i am trying to get the word out. >> reporter: what is your message to men this morning? what do you want them to know? >> be aware. awareness is a start. together we can conquer this disease. >> reporter: and you? >> i'm out there speaking on

she came through in command of that debate and in command of her material. she had quit and she moved to the left of bernie sanders on some issues. she won the debate and i think she may have prevented the fellow from coming into the race, joe biden. it looks like her opponent right now is the fbi.>> if pats can breeze by hillary's flip- flopping, so can i i would just add for the record that the fbi is not targeting hillary clinton. they are looking at the security system of the state department. for those hanging out expecting a terrible report, i would say, find something else to do. she did a great job the other night and quieted a lot of the doubts in the party.

have reached a tipping point on the issue. there are a lot of gun safety issues -- groups that have web's point is that somehow the guns. all they are talking about is background checks so they don't give guns to people with records and who are a mentally unstable -- who are mentally unstable. the majority of nra members join that.>> i think when you talk about magazine capacity limits, that would be a big issue that will lose voters as manufacturers.>> who needs a magazine with 18 rounds or more unless you want to wipe out a bunch of people. >> the failure rate is about 20%.>> on this issue, they were

at the wrong debate. they should have been at the republican debate. they would have gotten applause and standing ovations. >> there is a reason you don't have the reforms that you were talking about. >> and people's minds change. >> they are moving state-by- state and they will be on the ballot in maine and nevada. probably next november. bernie sanders made some good points too. people need to sit and talk. we need to listen.>> the democrats learned, to their dismay in the 1990s, that banning guns is a losing proposition. it costs votes.>> not since the 60s.
