they have put up the barricades and they are about to block off the streets to account for the crowds. thousands of officers will be here to mourn the death of officer holder and give thanks for his service and sacrifice. the nypd prepare for you a massive turnout at the greater allen ame cathedral of new york where thousands will say a final good-bye to officer randolph holder, many from the law enforcement community. >> we often see a lot of support for our fallen from the east coast and so we just like to return the favor. >> reporter: including this patrol officer and sergeant from washington state. they traveled here to pay their respects and show support for his family. >> a few years ago, we had four officers in lakewood who were brings it home. >> reporter: today mayor bill de blasio and nypd commissioner bill bratton will speak at the service.

be remembered for his skill, and dedication. >> his community appreciated him. and that says a lot. >> reporter: investigators are still searching for answers behind the killing of officer holder after he responded to shots fired. last night, exactly a week later, they spent hour where is this happened along 120th street and fdr drive. they stopped traffic and handed out fliers hoping to find any witnesses or information on the case. the accused gunman tyrone howard, a convicted felon, has been indicted and charged with first degree murder and now police are focused on the weapon linked to the shooting. right now, they are trying to figure out who stole it and track down the original owner. and back out here live where police are getting ready for funeral of officer randolph holder, he is the fourth officer from the nypd to be killed in the last 11 months. and after the service here, he will be buried in his home country of guyana. ilana gold, cbs , cbs 2 news.

>> again, the funeral this afternoon at 3:00. and we will stream it live on our website, cbsnewyork.com. new at noon, a coastal flood advisory has just expired for parts of queens. waters are expected to rise again tonight. we are live in rockaway beach where there was some flooding this morning. >> reporter: yeah, we are here on beach 84th street and rockaway freeway. take a look down the block. what you are seeing is some water. it may look pretty dry at the moment but coastal flooding was an issue here just a few hours ago. take a look at the video that we shot about 90 minutes ago. and it shows the affect of some of the coast -- the it shows the effect of some of the coastal flooding. that was about 9:00 here when we had high tide. so the coastal flood advisory was allowed to expire at noon. the problem is that a coastal flood advisory will go back

the tidal departures expected to be 1 to 2 feet above tides the. the high tide this evening roughly about 9:15. so in addition to the coastal flooding that we are expecting, we are also going to be dealing with some rain. we are expecting anywhere from .50 to 2 informs of rain. so already this morning, we've -- 2 inches of rain. so already this morning, we've had some flooding. and we have pictures of cars. parked car, so people may or may not have issues with their cars when they return and take a look at them. and this morning, you may need the rain gear. the only problem, because it's windy, it's blowing around so sometimes the umbrella is useless in the water. it's chillily. it's rainy. it's windy. we've already had issues with coastal flooding here. and we will have them again this evening for this evening's high tide. cbs 2 news. >> thank you. well the clouds are here and some areas have had some of the showers. but there's a lot more rain on the way.

let's get to el fell the weather center -- get to john elliott in the weather center. >> this is what she's talking about. more advisories, north shore into the coastal connecticut through the city this afternoon and tonight from about 8:50 to 10:00, watching those tide cycles. and chris mentioning the rain, now more rain filling in. and into morris and suffolk well. it's a big system. got a big area of low pressure. and waves of wet. you will get some breaks now and then and then heavier rain later. as far as the projected total, absolutely, .50 to 2 inches to 2.5 to possibly 3 inches, these will be the exceptional totals. that depends on where the heavy lines set up and also an isolated thunderstorm contributing to that. and the wind, look at the wind that we're anticipating by this afternoon. 40 to 50 miles per hour wind gusts.

find out why. don't forget to follow us on facebook and like our page. you can find us at facebook.com/cbsnewyork. a violent arrest in columbus circle. you can see apolice officer with his arm around the neck of a skateboarder and wrestling until the man is on the ground. police say the skateboarder was illegally riding on sunday and refused to show id when asked and resisted arrest. the skateboarder posted the video on youtube saying he is, quote, tired of abusive cops. police say the incident is under internal investigation. the deputy seen on video removing a student from her desk in south carolina has been fired the. sheriff says another video shows the student hitting the officer before he puts his hands on her. >> reporter: this is the video

the sheriff is rereferring to. you can see the student strike the officer at least once after the deputy puts her into a head lock and grabs her leg. >> even though she refused to abide by the directions of the teacher, the school administrator, and also the verbal commands of the deputy, i am looking at what our deputy did. >> reporter: the actions have outraged many in the community, including parents. about a dozen voiced their opinions at a tuesday night school district board meeting. these people. >> reporter: classmates say the confrontation began when the teacher and school administrator repeatedly asked her to put away the cellphone during class. and one student who asked that his face and voice be concealed says other kids in the class trying to diffuse the situation. >> she was told by the students to just get up and leave when the administrator came in. >> my first thought was, my god, that's the same guy. >> reporter: wendy johnson says her autistic son was in a physical struggle with the

deputy when he was a freshman. she took these foes to after the altercation, his shirt torn and marks on the arm and shoulder. >> the people that are supposed to be protecting my children, i've got to worry if they're being hurt by those people. >> her son was expelled after that. for the officer, the federal investigation could take several weeks. we are about to get an extra hour of sleep. find out why it could be a problem for some people. and john is here with the rainy forecast. >> great napping weather right now. what about the roller coaster

full forecast is coming up. in colorado, a teenager is safe after being found nine miles away from home aapparently sleep walking to arielive's home. the 19-year-old's girl's dad called 911. a blood hound tracked the scent to a bus stop. police say she boarded a city bus not wearing any shoes and walked to her uncle's house nearby. it's a day many of us look forward to, clocks fall back giving us an extra hour of sleep this weekend. >> but don't be surprised if you don't feel more rested.

light rain, light to moderil for a good part of the area. and number in town, 60 again. miles per hour. and problems as far as getting around by air, absolutely one to three hour delays. and you have the wind and the fog. it's an east wind. but yeah, there are going to be delays this afternoon with that heavier rain setting in. and more readings in 60s. low 60s for the jersey shore. and just want to expand the view to show you, warmer air to the south and west. we tap into that. and there's a real warm day waiting for you tomorrow. and shooting for the mid-60s today. and that's above normal. 83 and 29 the records. sunsets at 5:59 but the sun a stranger today. around the area through queens and brooklyn, more nassau and suffolk county, the light to moderate rain filling in. you know and then a flash of color. parts of the area seeing heavy rain. and now there will be breaks. the it will be on again, off again as the moisture continues to kind of circle around the

area of low pressure. the entire system pushes off from west to east. it's a process that we're watching. and this is what the models think is going to happen. by the afternoon, you're watching the 5:00 or 6:00 with lonnie and there's pockets of heavy rain and overnight tonight, early morning hour, maybe thunder, flash of lightning. even tomorrow morning when you're back with us on the morning show. there's that last line off heavy rain. and then always the possibility of an afternoon shower as the system exists late thursday into friday. and thursday warm, reversal of the wins on friday. and you will see a big drop in the numbers. so 66 today. wind and rain, watch for flooding again tonight with the high tide cycles. and then tomorrow, into tonight, we have the possibility of an ice isolated thunderstorm and then tomorrow -- of an isolated thunderstorm and then tomorrow, a transition day. just rain in the morning to left over showers in the afternoon. still windy on thursday. a warm wind gives way to a
