two people were found stabbed there, but it's not clear if they are students. police also took a suspect in into custody as the other students were forced to evacuate. screaming. we are not allowed back in. >> reporter: escorted out or told to get out? >> told to get out. >> no word on the condition of the two victims. police are searching for the gunman who wounded a brooklyn. you can see the people running for cover, and a b13 bus was traveling down wyckoff avenue yesterday afternoon when several shots were fired. one of the bullets conspiracied a bus window, and the shattered glass hit the woman in the head. >> anyone sitting in that seat that person would probably be dead. it was face level. >> reporter: the injured woman is expected to be okay. now to a cbs 2 exclusive,

the grieving mother of an nypd officer is speaking out. moore. she says when her son was killed promises were made to keep kids safe, and jennifer mclogan has her story. >> he was only 25 years roll, and he never had a chance to get married and never had a life. >> reporter: her son brian was ambushed, shot in the head by a career criminal. >> the mornings are very difficult. it's almost as if i have to feel the pain again today. it's flashbacks. i can't get the images out of my mind. >> reporter: when her courageous son was buried last may, leaders promised to her and to the families of officers rafael ramos and wenjian liu that the city would do more to keep the cops safe this week

the mother and baby new energy. new diet advice, low fat diets are not the most effective for long-term weight loss according to a new study. researchers reviewed 50 studies and found low fat diets were no more successful than those with a higher fat content when it comes to keeping the weight off for a year. dumdums or tootsie rolls, trick or treaters are ready to load up their bucket today. candy corn is the most popular candy during halloween in the u.s. and a favorite for five states. in the tri-state area, reese's is the number one favorite in connecticut. sour patch kids in new jersey, and new yorkers are sweet on sweet tarts. >> i have to go to connecticut.

>> reporter: not just for one exact. >> the year i had sophia, i starletted to rain as soon as the doctor gave me the okay. >> reporter: she trained for the 2013 new york city marathon, and sunday she will compete for the second time, but this year the cheering section is a little fuller. her 8-year-old son, max, will be there along with her daughter and husband, tina, who says he's committed to helping. >> she does it all, takes care of the kids, does the dishes, and when i come home, i get a meal. >> reporter: she says she couldn't complete her goals without a strong support system. she says any fitness goal is worth striving for. >> exercising is an excellent way for mothers to get their focus back on their kids and themselves. we forget about ourselves a lot. >> she hopes to complete the race in less than 5 hours. good luck to her and the

the star of happy days and the odd couple has died. cbs 2 news starts right now. good morning. it's 9:30 on this saturday, october 31st, happy halloween. i'm andrea grymes. >> and i'm diane macedo. first vanessa is here with your forecast. >> reporter: the temperatures are warming up, the sun is out, and it will be a beautiful start to the weekend it will be cooler than we have become accustomed to as of late. high in the mid-50s for most. the current temperatures, 45 in central park. mid-40s for long island, and hanging on to the low to mid- 30s for much of new jersey, and the 24 hour temperature change in booten right there.

>> reporter: thousands of mets' fans were cheering loud and proud as they won 9-3 over the royals, and it was the largest crowd in city history. the mets are now behind 2-1 in the series after losing the first two games in kansas city, and only 11 teams in world series history have come back to win the championship after losing the first two games. the mets were one of those teams, doing it in 1986 and the fans are confident they can do it again. they noticed a big difference in the team last night. >> they were much more aggressive than they had been in the past, and they were hitting the balls early, getting on base. >> fundamental defense, making contact with the ball. syndergaard was not trying to strike out every batter he faced. >> looking forward to coming home in front of all the greatest fans in all of baseball. it's late in the year, and they gave us the extra energy we needed, and then we had fun tonight. >> cabrera brings it. >> reporter: the mets are

you can't get through halloween without thinking of black cats this is a picture of ava's cat and adorable pet pictures. charley hoffman with this superdog. we were just discussing superman, superwoman, and how about superdog? we have him, too. this is from high atop of the empire state building. it's beautiful. mostly sunny and 45 now. we have north winds at 5 miles an hour. what you can expect from the forecast. mostly sunny this morning, and for trick or treating, just calm and dry. very nice weather in the mid- 50s, and on the cool side, as we make our way into the day tomorrow, plenty of clouds, and there's a slim risk of showers. it could affect the marathoners but overall the forecast is decent for sunday. midweek, think about a sick day. temperatures will be in the low 70s midweek, and that's well above seasonal. we should be upper 50s right now. on the vortex satellite and

radar picture, clear skies for the most part right now. high pressure is in play. two systems approaching from the west that will bring us the possibility, first off of plenty of clouds, and secondly some showers, especially early tomorrow. here we are. they are going to be watching them closely as they make their way closer to us. here's what the future model projects. for this morning, looking lovely. the clouds to thicken. this evening, mostly cloudy. game time, mainly cloudy, and overnight, the suggest that we will see a few showers east of the city. most of us are dry until tomorrow morning, and that is when we do have a slight chance for a few showers. the best bet for showers will be before noon tomorrow, and by afternoon, you will start to see the clouds breaking up. we will see more sunshine by tomorrow afternoon, and then monday, here is the deal, one of those systems track together south may still have an impact on the forecast, and certainly we will get more clouds thrown in our direction on monday, and we may get wet weather easing in our direction.

>> you are used to hearing kids like this? >> oh, yes! >> tell us what they can expect when they come this year though. >> they can expect amazing acts for all over the world because it's called the grand tour. we travel all around the world with this particular show, and there's acts from russia, south america, and just an amazing array of people, and there's very funny clowns for the kids. same? >> a great familiar face for those returning. >> talk about your outreach. >> reporter: the big apple circus has a fairly new program doing it on the 21st of november a program that is specifically geared towards

[ laughter ] >> -- [ inaudible ] -- it will give them -- >> a nice experience for the patients, right? >> you brought friends with you to perform. really quickly, what do you hope that people -- oh my goodness. what do you hope people take away and get from coming? >> for me, the most special thing about being with the circus, it's truly a family experience. we have grandparents who have taken their children, and their children are taking their children. it's a tremendous family experience. it's so warm and embracing. i tell the performers all the time, the most important thing is saying we are together. it's so special. nothing is better. >> the best part, we have to see them in action, and you brought mr. jolene today. >> i sure did. >> are you ready to see something? i'm sorry i can't hear you. ready to see tricks?
