of the victims killed. police are out here investigating how this happened. >> reporter: the nypd looking for answers on bogart avenues. at 5:00 last night, this out-of- control car plowed into a group of trick or treaters and landed several feet off of the ground. >> that came up and -- >> witnesses said the man behind the wheel of the black dodge charger rammed the car in front of it and slammed into a wall. and struck two groups of people celebrating halloween. several of them children. >> and we heard the boom, boom, boom. the cars hitting each other and hearing screams. >> reporter: police say 65-year- old luis perez and his ten-year- impact. the other three-year-old granddaughter got rushed to the hospital in stable condition. >> all i could think of was oh, my gosh. i hope he makes it. >> reporter: the neighbor rushed over and tried to save arrived. more.

rescue of 24-year-old christian laka, also killed in the crash and police say the nine-year- old sister and 21-year-old friend were hit, too, and have minor injuries. >> and you can't imagine something like that is real. looked like something from a war movie. >> i and seeing something witnesses can't get past and this could have happened to any of them walking on the sidewalk during halloween. >> and the other place -- >> right now, police need to question the 63-year-old driver and figure out what sled to the -- what led to the tragedy. >> reporter: and back out here live, police have the area blocked off after the deadly crash and this morning, we have seen them out here taking measurements and talking to the neighbors trying to get more information and we can tell you the driver is recovering at the hospital and police say it's possible he had a seizure or a medical condition and right now, this is under investigation. this morning. and thank you.

in somalia's capital city. rebels ambushed a hotel killing at least 9 people and including the hotel owner and former military general. you can see people running for gun fire and set off gunmen ran inside and they appear to have hostages. the extremist rebels al-shebab claimed responsibility. an investigation is underway into the crash of a russian passenger jet in egypt that killed all 224 people on board and relatives of the victims created a memorial at the saint petersburg airport where the plane was set to land. isis is claiming responsibility for the crash but both russia and egypt deny it. here's more. >> reporter: it came down in a

peninsula and had to use helicopters to reach it. there could be no survivors and dozens brought bodies, many reportedly burned to a morgue in cairo. the remains will be flown home to saint petersburg and restaurant friends and relatives showed photos and silvis sent by the holiday. among them, 10-month-old dori in, a gremova, the youngest passenger on the plane. an egyptian aviation official said the plane was cruising at 31,000 feet when a pilot radio showed he was having technical difficulties and. ed to make an emergency landing at the nearby airport and contact was lost. flight trackers indicate 23 minutes after takeoff, the a- 321 air bus was moving at a speed of 400 knots and suddenly dropped to 28,000 feet and with maltic suddenness, slowed to a speed of 23 knots and barely 100 miles an hour. an affiliate of the islamic state, which operates in the

and president obama. do you think they'll be able to work better together. >> when president obama came into office, he went and talked to the house republican conference and in that speech he said and mentioned paul ryan as the kind of person he thought he could do business and many things happened since that time and there is a lot of political and partisan scar tissue built up and i think they have a cordial relationship, but because we're moving into's presidential year, the prospects are probably pretty low for any big movements. but they do have a little bit of a relationship, obama and ryan, and so, at least it starts off on a better foot. again, because it's a presidential year coming up, everything is going to be so much more supercharged than it was in terms of partisanship. >> and remember, you can catch john in a full hour of face the nation this morning at 10:30 on

cbs 2. and time now is 8:49 and time to go to vanessa murdoch. runners. and you have been talking to a lot of interesting people this morning. >> &. absolutely and many of them running for their own reasons. their causes and we're going to talk about that in just a moment. first, i want to get your forecast and so everyone knows how this weekend is -- weekend and live outside, looking over the city and at present, the skies are cloudy out there and 58 degrees, southwest winds at 11 miles an hour. there is a nice breeze this morning but nothing compared to what we had last year. what can you expect from the forecast for today? overcast skies dominate; however, we will get some breaks of sun this afternoon. and we also have a few showers in the forecast that is possible. mainly before the noon hour and they're not going to bring a lot of rain but a little bit and mid-week, as i mentioned,

my big goal for cog this is to enjoy it. to experience it and to represent organ and tissue donation awareness. i had life-saving liver transplant 15 years ago and a big advocate for dean or awareness and helping those touched by transplantation and selfishly, i want to enjoy it and have if know and experience it. it's been a bucket list item for me. >> and. >> ira professional snow boyder -- snowborter and what have you done to get ready? >> i am a snowboarder, not a runner and this is different for me and i am used to sliding downhill on snow fast. you know, i have been running in aspen at 8,000 feet and that helps me. a higher altitude and i little a little bigger. i don't have the runner's physique of the guys doing this in two hours. i am carry manager meat. >> and what is your goal, your time goal? >> like i said, i want to have fun, and you know, i would like to do something that starts

with a 3 in front of it. >> okay. >> and everyone said don't go out too hot. pace yourself the first five, 10-miles and if i feel good, hope fry i can step on the gas the last five or six. >> and tell bus your foundation? >> i had a life-saving liver transplant 15 years ago after being on the waiting list for six years and i recognized what a great need for solid organ donors and made a commitment to myself and said if i get through this, i will do everything to get back and there are many people waiting. 10,000 here in the state of new york and the need is great and this is a curable disease. it's awareness and education, getting people to say yes and sign up on the registries to be an organ donor and i am here because of it and grateful and proud to represent the transplant community. >> awesome. >> and we wish you the best of luck. a -- have a great run. >> and very good. >> and it you.

later on and 10 to 15 and that is not far away and we'll have a chat with tiki barber. excuse me. back to you. >> and thank you. we have new information on a halloween tragedy in the bronx. >> and a 10-year-old girl is one of three people killed after a car plowed into trick or treaters last night and alaina gold has more. >> reporter: we learned a continue-year-old girl and her grandfather were killed in the crash and we tonight show you the car responsible. it's banged up and sitting on the tow truck and about to be taken away and last night, it jumped the curb and flew into someone's driveway and killed a 24-year-old man and all morning, police were out here investigating and trying to figure out why the driver lost control. the nypd is looking for answers on this frightening crash on morris park in bogart avenues. they said at 5:00 last night, this out of control car plowed

perfect plan to get money for life. they have -- the son and his girlfriend were arrested and charged in the case. by have new information on a double stabbing at rutgers university. a student of garfield, new jersey, has been charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed two people. it happened friday inside the residence home in campus and police say the suspect and victims were arguing before the stabbing. they're now in stable condition. and six people were rushed to the hop after a swarm of bees attacked them in arizona. three adults and children were treatd for bee stings. one was stung 300 times. firefighters found the hive in an open water valve box at one of the houses in a subdivision. and they sprayed the bees with foam and exterminated the hives. >> it's a smashing celebration. and get your pumpkins, jack-o- lanterns and gords to the project. you smashed them and they will

we have had some sprinkles around 50 and heading for the mid-60s this afternoon. the forecast will shape up nicely for sunday and for all of the 50 though plus runners here for the 2015 new york city marathon and loot go to the seven-day. this afternoon, 66 degrees and breaks of sun. overnight, partly cloudy and 54. tomorrow, 64 degrees and sunshine to the north and more clouds to the south and then the mid-week forecast is amazing. we're talking low 70s with tops of son -- sun on tuesday and thursday and temperatures dropping into the 60s by week's end. overall, it's a good start for the 2015 new york city marathon and there is a bit of a breeze for sure and we're starting to hear the horns go. it's exciting and e lit runners take off at 9:20 and the first leg in the elite men at 950time. a great morning for a 26.2-mile run, guys and back to you.
