during -- at a busy theater in new jersey. good morning, the time is 8:01 on this sunday, november 22.>> vanessa murdock has a look at the forecast. we had showers move through overnight and they will return for some this afternoon. right now temperatures are mild and they will not move much today. the wind will pick up, so expected to feel like the 40s for all of us. despite that fact, some of us start off in the 50s. looking at the vortex satellite and radar, there are some breaks in the clouds. for those of you well north and west of the city, you will see

through the day. there is a slight chance that weather will impact your plans and there will be more cloud cover south and east of the city. expect a cloudy day with the impacting your plans. as you make your way through the day, temperature wise we will not move much. we have already tapped out at our high of 55 and we will fall from there to the 50 degree mark as those winds pick up. it is not going to be bright and beautiful, but we have that in the extended forecast and i will have details coming up. happening today in new york city, emergency responders put themselves to the test for a major terror drill.>> that includes the nypd, the fd ny and homeland security.>>

bowery street subway station. we just saw the mayor and the police commissioner show up and they walked down into the paramedics are here responding to this mass shooting scenario in preparing for a real threat. the new york police and fire departments along with homeland security making their presence known inside and outside the now closed bowery subway station during -- doing an active shooter drill. police officers encounter a gunman on the platform. that calling for backup and there will be many surprise mock -- mock surprises for the responders. it is preparing for possible terrorist attacks. >> while there is not a credible terrorist threat

say that suspected attacker may be in the country. belgian is urging people in the country to stay home or avoid large crowds if they do have to go out. three attackers were involved in the deadly hotel siege in mali. nine people were killed include an american peace corps volunteer, anita data. her husband was hillary clinton's senior advisor when she served in the senate. it is said that anita data gave hope and help to people around the world, especially children and families.

yesterday the hacker group anonymous said that it uncovered threats against the wwe survivor series. security measures have been increased to ensure the safety of fans. anonymous has been working against isis in the wake of the paris attacks. a flight from jfk to istanbul was diverted to canada overnight. it landed at the halifax stanford international airport just before 1:00 this morning. they use dogs trained and searching for explosives, but nothing was found. the plane with 256 people on board departed from halifax to istanbul this morning. a woman charged with stabbing a friend to death and then cutting a baby from a woman's womb now says that it

was self-defense.>> this is not a person that deserves that.>> reporter: the friends and family of angelique sutton say they will be haunted by the way she died. she was stabbed to death in her baby girl was cut from her womb. the infant is alive and well at the hospital, but she will never know her biological mother. >> i can't believe she died like that. >> reporter: 22-year-old ashley wade was arrested and charged with murder. police -- people believe that she was pregnant, but it was a trick. there were this and other sonogram pictures that were linked to a registry and weight's name. a person entered the apartment and saw wade and the baby in the blood and called 911. in the days leading to the

together. weight initially said that the baby was hers -- wade initially said the baby was hers. said that it was self-defense and she grabbed the knife from sutton.>> reporter: wade is at elmhurst hospital undergoing psychiatric evaluation. people bolted from a new jersey theater after a noise was mistaken for a gunshot. it was the multiplex cinemas on saturday night. the edgewater mayor says it started when someone fell in the theater. the noise sounded like a gunshot and then someone yelled gun. everybody started running. the bomb squad home to the theater with canines and nothing was found.

plenty of clouds and sunshine does linger south and east of afternoon hours. once that moves out, as happens overnight, cold air will plunge in. it will feel like winter tomorrow. as we head toward thanksgiving, milder and drier air pushes in. it looks great for the stretch ahead. on the dry side and chilly to start the day tomorrow. looking at the vortex satellite and radar picture right now, you can notice showers popping back up on the east end of long island. right now they are flirting with the jersey shore. the big picture is this with the cold front moving across. you can see it here. an area of low pressure on the outer banks. it will rise up bringing moisture. there is still a chance for showers today. the best bet is south and east of the city.

today and into tonight, high pressure will come in and it will be very chilly. it will feel like the 20s to start monday and it will feel like the 30s tomorrow afternoon. on the future cast model, here is what things look like hour by hour. cloudy today in a chance of showers. most likely we will see showers east and south of the city with sunshine north and west. then the skies clear as we head toward the evening hours and overnight. it will become clear for us and temperatures will go down. let's take a look. for today we topped out at 55 before sunrise. this afternoon, we are about the 50 degrees mark with wind picking up. there is a chance of showers south and east of the city. overnight in the city, 34.

it seems like winter arrived a full month early in milwaukee this weekend. it was good news, as you can see, for these kids in the midwest. the first major snowfall of the season. for adults, not as much fun where they have swapped sleds for snowblowers. they had up to 20 inches of a medical student in serious condition after being shot during an armed robbery. a gunmen was dragging a woman in a two lane med student, peter gold, got out of his car and tried to intervene. the gunmen shot him. the gunmen tried to shoot a second time, but the gun

the woman is safe. a teacher near salt lake city created an assignment for ninth grade student -- students to create a terrorism poster. they had to search the internet for terrorism poster's.>> my initial response was, there is no way you are going to do this assignment.>> she was ask -- enthusiastic and wanted students to understand the propaganda and is not good -- propaganda is not good. >> reporter: the teacher has apologized and the assignment was withdrawn. the interior ministry in russia is sending this puppy to french counterparts in russia -- in paris. they hope it will replaced the dog that was lost during the terror attacks in paris.

checking in with our weather watcher's. the variability in sky cover will be apparent as we make our way. first off, northwest of the city there are a few, high, thin and wispy clouds. then closer to the city, this picture was taken by brian bartow on long island. notice the clouds. the day. the more distance you have between yourself and the city to the north, the clearer your skies. south and east, the better chance of rain you will have today. let's go outside right now to show you this picture from high atop the empire state building. it is cloudy and 51 at central park. wind at 15-20 miles wind at 15- 20 mph. a breezy day over all. when will pick up toward the

there are's -- there is a chance of showers south and east of the city. winter arrives for a brief back up through the thanksgiving holiday. with highs in the upper 50s and lots of sun. tomorrow, a different story with plenty of sunshine, but it will be chilly. 44 is the high tomorrow and it will feel like the 30s. with this high of 44, it will be the coldest day since april 9. on that day it was 43 degrees. note the showers starting to skim along the coastline. the closer you are to the coast, the more likely to see wet weather. a cold front making its weight east in an area of low pressure just below the time and temperature that coast. there is a continued opportunity for wet weather

[ music ] . we are kicking it up this morning with the radio city christmas spectacular which has been in new york staple for 70 years. here to talk about the show are a few of the rockettes that you will see gracing the stage. we have laura, lauren, allison and sarah. thank you for being here. tell us a little bit about the show. is there anything different or new that we can expect? >> the rockettes are in the holiday spirit and we begin shows on november 13 and -- we began shows on november 13 and we will be running into january this year. tickets are selling fast. we are excited because we have a totally reimagined santa norva -- number. it is the multiplying senses

i have a strawberries -- a cranberry shake. i use lactaid, cranberry sauce and you shake it up and you have a cranberry shake. i did it in shots because i like small portions. it is the same thing with my nutty sweet potato parfait. we have sweet potato filling and ice cream. i use granola or i use honey bunches of oats. it is attractive because when you get to the bottom, you get all the good apples. >> speaking up apples, this is my weakness.>> it is fun and you get ice cream as well.
