live in one of those areas affected. janelle? >> reporter: it has been just over 27 hours since that water main ruptured. and we have seen the water only slightly recede. we have been watching that white car behind us here on jackson street since about 3:00 this morning and the water level has pretty much stayed the same, right up to the bumper. so several inches of water in some places. and people here will tell you, it has been a major inconvenience. >> it is a disaster. >> annoyed and irritated drivers sitting in traffic backups stretching several blocks on hoboken south side. delays making a difficult monday morning commute. even harder. >> much worse. >> reporter: extra police having to help motorists navigate around this. chopper 2 over the gushing source, a break in a 24-inch water main valve that happened sunday morning, more than 24 hours later, it appears it has yet to be fixed. >> this morning i was able to brush my teeth and that's it. it is difficult. people have babies and stuff where i live.

evelyn rivera has no water in her jackson street high rise apartment where a struck was parked outside her building to offer residents fresh water. at a nearby deli, their taps are running but the water pressure far lower than what they are used to after being dry most of yesterday. >> i lost a lot of business. i lost a lot of money. because people can't park over there. and you know, the traffic. >> reporter: this owner says he had barely any business sunday and the gridlock outside kept away the usual customers today costing him thousands in sales. at least key get to work. this man had his car surrounded by building shin deep. >> you can't get into your building? >> no, no, no. i can't get in there. >> i can't go to work. >> i can't go home. >> you can't go home? >> what are you going to do? >> reporter: now back live, you are looking at some of that

water swirling around here, on jackson street. a positive image here this afternoon, it appears to be going down. one of the sewer drains here. in hoboken, on the south side. we did reach out to hoboken's mayor, as well as suez water which manages the water for this area. we have not heard a response back as to whether the source of the break has been fixed. but we can tell you that a boil water advisory is still in effect here in hoboken for the remainder of the day. reporting live in afternoon, from hoboken, janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. nassau and suffolk county police are working together to try to solve a string of armed robberies on long island. the latest incident happened at a pier one imports at a popular suffolk county shopping area. cbs 2 diane macedo talked to shoppers and workers. >> reporter: pier one, customers are waiting as police are looking for the man who robbed the store at gunpoint. the man walked in at 7:00 last night and pulled out a gun and tied up everyone inside and forced an employee to open up

the safe and emptied the safe and register before finally taking off. >> employees at the store this morning say it was all news to them. >> i haven't heard about anything. >> i wasn't aware. >> nobody said anything? >> no. >> i'm sorry, i need to go into work. >> reporter: the incident bears a striking resemblance to at least eight other robberies on long island, like the one new york and company on west babylon on october 12. >> tied up. trying to run for themselves. and trying to protect themselves. very scary. >> reporter: on this rainbow in lindenhurst, the robber stole from the customers. >> the uy was holding up at gunpoint. ladies behind the counter, you know, tied up and stuff. >> reporter: last week, at destination maternity, in karl place, police say the masked gunman posed as a cleaner walking in with a work vest and broom in his hand and head down. shoppers in the area had mixed reactions. >> it is very unfortunate. and it is scary to know that that is happening right around here. >> we shopped here.

>> you are going to -- >> keep going shopping. >> for shoppers in the pier one imports, the store is not accepting cash. and suffolk county police are offering a $5,000 award for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. police are investigating if awful crimes are connected but they -- all of the crimes are connected but they strongly believe they are. they urge people to think about how the man talks and the way he holds the gun and it can be key to catching him. three firefighters battled a house fire in queens. chopper 2 flew over the scene in jamaica this morning. 146th street, flames engulfed the house. and a firefighter could see flammable items being thrown out the window like a blanket. no word on what started the fire. a police chase that started in upstate new jersey ends in new jersey. investigators say david campos in police custody. the 45-year-old was wanted in the stabbing death of his

girlfriend in troy new york early this morning. according to police he led officers on a wild chase down the pallisades parkway. they finally caught up with him in a black vehicle on the eastern spur of the new jersey turnpike in ridgefield park. to the war on isis. belgian's capital remains shut down for a third straight day. authorities in brussels warn of a serious and imminent threat. they are taking no chances, closing schools and subways. while searching for suspects. brussels remains on its highest terror alert. for a third straight day. as armored vehicles, soldiers and police officers stand watch outside train stations. heavily armed security forces conducted more than a dozen raids in and around the capital city overnight. searching for terror suspects. authorities arrested 16 people, during the raids, one person even allegedly tried to ram a car into police. >> for the time being, we cannot confirm if there is a relation between the ongoing investigation and this arrest. >> reporter: still, on the run,

terror suspect salah abdeslam. officials believe he was driven to belgium after the paris terrorist attacks which killed 130 people. his brother mohamed issued yet another plea sunday for him to turn himself in. >> translator: we would rather see him in jail than in a cemetery, he said. >> reporter: concerns about terrorism are also high here at home. in a new poll, 83% of registered voters believe a large scale terror attack in the u.s. is likely in the near future. leading democratic senator diane fine stein says the u.s. must do more to fight isis. >> i'm concerned that we don't have the time, and we don't have years. we need to be aggressive now. >> reporter: meantime, president obama will meet with the french president tomorrow, at the white house, to discuss shared efforts to stop the terror group. as the search for suspects presses forward, the leaders of france and britain now pledge to work together to fight isis

french president francois hollande, and british prime minister david cameron visited the theater in paris. both leaders agreed to join forces against isis. cameron will offer a british air base in cypress. later this week, cameron will meet with the leaders of germany and russia. closing arguments under way in the corruption trial of former new york assembly speaker sheldon silver. a federal prosecutor told jurors the 71-year-old democrat made millions through bribes and kickbacks, and his lawyers will give their closing argument later today. but they say overzealous prosecutors have unfairly singled him out turning innocent deal making into crimes. deliberation could start as early as today. much more coming up on cbs 2 news at noon, where the worst bottlenecks for traffic are across the country, one stretching across two states,

you can find us on facebook .com/cbs new york. a nationwide traffic study identifies the 50 worst bottlenecks across the country where drivers spend a lot of time stuck in endless traffic jams every year. kris van cleave is one of the hot spots, the lincoln tunnel, one of the worst on the east coast. we mow it well. good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon. and in fact, new york has the two worst choke points on the east coast. the other as you're coming across the george washington bridge, commuters know both of these well but it is the lincoln tunnel that is the worst. i suppose you can get out of town right now, you're in good shape. when you talk about the amount of money that is lost in productivity to all of these bottlenecks, more than $22.4 billion a year -- $2.4 billion a year. >> drivers, it doesn't get worse than that. a 12-mile stretch of red lights. crawling cars. and pure commuter agony. interstate 90 in chicago, around o'hare airport.

traffic bottleneck in the country. resulting in 16.9 million hours of wasted time. that's an estimated $418 million of lost productivity a year. according to a new report. the reason? pure volume. >> they have destroyed so many neighborhoods to build it and people cannot still get anywhere. >> i give myself an hour and a half to get to work. >> the report identifies the 50 worst bottlenecks in the country. six of the top 10 are in los angeles. the new york city area has nine. brutal bottlenecks. the 2.6 miles around the lincoln tunnel results in 3.4 million hours of driver delay, every year. >> our r-bottlenecks getting -- are bottlenecks getting worse? >> getting worse over time. certainly between 19882 and today, it was a lot of studies that show that traffic that once was just in l.a. is now worst than what l.a. was like back then. in dozens of cities around the country. >> reporter: while all the bottlenecks suffer from too much volume, too many cars, the

and charlie, i don't know if you can see that, but that is snow to the north and west. and saw some snow this morning. we will show you that, i know, but we will show you that on the radar in a second. it is very pretty out there. a few clouds filling in. and the winds still, well, out of the northwest. so it is a cool feel. and 40 in the city. 36 in monticello. that is your temperature spread there. 36 to 44. two ends of the extreme. these numbers compared to yesterday. not a surprise here. five to over 10 degrees colder sunday. and when you throw in the wind, you still have wind chills, sub- freezing wind chills through greenwich and the hudson valley and the wind chill in the city is 37. 44 below normal. sunsets at 4:32. it is unusual for us to be below normal. we are average temperatures, 6.3, above normal. and so it has been very mild. and right now, we are on track to go down in the books as the warmest november, and we turn the numbers around quickly. there is the little bit of snow, off to the north and
