6:00 a.m. on this sunday, november 29th. i'm diane macedo. >> and i'm andrea grymes. >> it's significantly cooler than yesterday at this point. i want to mention for areas west of the city where temperatures are close to the freezing marks this morning. if you're out there driving, be cautious west of the city where we have a bit of rain falling at this point in time. >> and let's look at the current temperatures, so you can note the difference. it's 39 in the city and 43 in the hamptons; 20, monticello; 41,ble mar. note the 24-hour temperature change. it's 22 degrees cooler right now in mont cello than it was yesterday at this point in time, in the city, 16 degrees cooler. on the vortex satellite and radar picture, what is happening there? we have showers. you can see just a hint of some white and pink as we make our way toward warren and the counties there, the areas where

i say hey be on the cautious and the lookout for the roadways. the good news is that the wet south. the skies will be clearing throughout the morning hours. the breakdown of the days, 9:00 cloudy. still showers especially south of the city. by noon, 47 and mostly sunny skies in the city and showers to the south of the city. feeling like 44 degrees and 50 3:00. by 6 tonight. clear skies, 45 will feel like 40 and then at 9, 42 will feel like 37. temperatures are going to go on down tonight and tomorrow, we'll be in a chilly day. we're talking about highs in 940s tomorrow and breezy. the windchills tomorrow will be in the 30s for most of us. i will have the full forecast coming up. back to you. >> thank you. and we're following breaking news in new jersey. three people are dead and more than a dozen injured in a multivehicle crash.

northbound lanes of interstate 287 in bernard's township. the police say a van carrying passengers, a car, and pickup truck with a trailer carrying cows collided around 10:30 last night. two people died at the scene, a third person died at the hospital. 16 others were taken to area hospitals. some with serious injuries. police say a number of cattle from that tractor-trailer was scattered across the roadway and several of them did not survive. the cause of the crash is under investigation. the road had been closed all night. it just reopened about a half hour ago. and we're learning more about a possible motive in the deadly shooting at a colorado planned parenthood clinic. law enforcement sources say the suspected gunman said, quote, no more baby parts after his arrest. cbs 2s matt reports. >> reporter: a plea for help from a police officer at the planned parenthood clinic in colorado springs.

the finishes say the suspected gunman, 57-year-old robert dear, moved calmly and methodically as he shot and killed three and wounded 9. colorado springs mayor john suthers said police monitored his movements through security cameras inside planned parenthood. >> they were able to trace the movements of the perpetrator and inform the officers and the s.w.a.t. team about those movements. >> reporter: he reportedly sat down in a chair when he realized he was cornered and yelled out he was surrendering. surveillance video at a nearby shopping complex shows officers with body shields and moving patrons to safety. he was sitting -- this man was sitting in the car when he said dear shot through the window -- looked lou the window and shot him through the glass. >> he was aiming for my head. >> reporter: investigators are combing through dear's trailer for clues.

miles west of colorado springs. over the years, he's lived in remote trailers and cabins in the carolinas. neighbors describe him as reclusive. so far, the only shooting victim who has been identified has been 44-year-old police officer garrett swayse. he was on duty friday at the university of colorado where he worked when he heard the calls of shots fired, he rushed to the scene. a pastor was there when his wife rachael told the two young children their dad had died. >> and the cries and sobs of her children learning their daddy was never returning is something that will be etched in my mind the rest of my life. >> reporter: before becoming a police officer, he was a figure skater who competed in the 1995 national championships and win a junior national title in 1992. former national champion nancy

skated together as kids. >> fun, fin. a true friend. >> yeah. >> and very loyal and loving, caring person. >> reporter: sources say suspected gunman is no changer to the law. a restraining order and allegation of domestic violence and he's due back tomorrow. president obama is wave waving in on the colorado shooting and calling on congress to pass stiffer gun control. he said the last things americans should have to do over the holidays or any day is comfort the families of people killed by gun violence. we have to do something about the easy accessibility of weapons of war on the streets to people who have no business period. enough is enough. in our area, the nypd stepped up patrols at planned parenthood clinics. the governor announced new security measures will be implemented at all planned state. abortion rights advocates rallied in union square and

the police say 28-year-old paul niles turned himself in and is under arrest. he raped a woman who was jogging wednesday night on the lower east side. and police say another woman came forward claiming he groped her earlier that day. niles faces rape and robbery charges. >> aviation officials in london are investigating what caused a windshield on a boeing 767 to crack forcing a landing. it was heading to jfk from milan when it was forced to land at london's heathrow airport. no one on board was hurt and all passengers were placed on another flight to new york city. and a new born found abandoned and christmas manger display may soon have a place to call home. according to several reports, parishioners at the holy child jesus church in richmond hill are interested in adopting the baby boy. and a church custodian found the infant on monday. the boy is in the custody of

to russia ya. pope france is taking his message of to the republic. security will be high as he meets with muslim leaders. increased violence between christians and muslim militants forced close to 1 million people from homes. the stop is seen as the most dangerous ever made by a modern pope. yesterday in uganda, the pontiff celebrated mass honoring a group of christians who were killed in the late 19th century because of their faith. los angeles police new say a new born found buried alive was likely born in a hospital. the baby was believed to be only 24 to 36 hours old when she was found friday near a popular compton bike path after someone heard her cries. she had been wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a and rubble. >> it just hurts to see somebody leave a baby like that when there are so many other nowadays. condition. and to a health alert.

suffer from pms could be three times as likely to also have high blood pressure. researchers at the university of massachusetts said those experiencing bad pms have a higher chance of developing high blood pressure in their 20s and 30s. the study said the hormonal system could be responsible for pushing up blood pressure. doctors say that vitamin d supplements may decrease the likelihood of high blood pressure in women suffering from pms. u.s. scientists are keeping a close eye on a volcano in hawaii. the helicopter camera captured lava cascading down the side of kilaueaa as it erupted. at the time, the flow was a quarter mile long. the u.s. geological survey said the volcano is not threatening communities in the area. it's the youngest and most active volcano in the hawaiian islands. >> the color is incredible. >> one of the things that you know is dangerous and since weon it's not jeopardizing communities, it's beautiful to look at. >> uh-huh. >> let's check in with vanessa murder. you must love seeing videos like that. >> i do.

and i love all of the natural weather. >> uh-huh. >> that is not a weather phenomenon but interesting stuff to watch. the weather this morning, a little bit wet out there. yesterday, we had some wet weather and we want to start things off with video that we shot at bryan park. yesterday's unseasonably warm weather was a hit with skaters at the ring. and lots of people took advantage of the balmy temperatures to enjoy the park's winter village. the carousel provided a big draw for the kids and how about that again today. i think you can do it. it's going to be cooler out there. let's go ahead, shall we, take you live outside right now in the city. and we have cloudy skies, but 39 degrees to start things off. north winds at 12 miles per hour. and as we look at the weather headlines, showers early this morning and also, very important to note if you're heading out west of the city this morning where temperatures are dropping closer to freezing and some patchy black ice is possible. be careful on the roadways and tomorrow, the temperatures will

continue to drop and we're talking about the temperatures in the 40s to start your workweek and tuesday and wednesday, much needed rain and there is a lot going on and,of course, we have a lot going on with the wet weather moving on through. and flow the pink and white and that would be the indicator of some freezing rain, falling, a little. again, though, mainly to the west of the city and this is associated -- associated with the cold front slowly and easing to the south and by mid- day, most of us are enjoying sunshine and this is that front to the south of the city and the high pressure is building on in forcing it to the south and also as high pressure builds in, cooler air is making its way in. and big changes in the temperature department as well and as we look at the forecast here, note the clouds, 7:00 a.m. and the rain. i think this is a little bit fast and i think we will have rain north of the monmoth and ocean county region and again, the trend for today, clearing

skies by noon and notice how many of us are seeing the sun and possibly showers lingering to the south of the city at noon and by this afternoon, skies are clear and overnight as well. the temperatures tumbling into the 20s and 30s. and things are looking bright and chilly. then watch what happens as the day progresses. the winds generally out of the east tomorrow, bringing in moisture and clouds. increasing clouds for your monday with temperatures very chilly and on tuesday, the it said into wednesday, rain heavy at times and the winds are picking up a soggy mid-week stretch for us. for today, clearing skies and much cooler. a high of 50. the lingering chance of wet weather to the south of the city into the mid-day hours. to 15. this afternoon at 1:00, the jets will be playing the dolphins at met life stadium, 50 degrees. and skies are clearing on out

at that point in time and bring the shades, enjoy the game and hopefully they will win and 37 in the city, translating to 20s north and west and then tomorrow, we're looking at morning skies and bright and beautiful with lake clouds, a high of 46 degrees. it's going to be so much colder than it was yesterday; how far, 49 degrees is the normal high and actually tomorrow's weather is not too far off of the norm and look at the forecast into tuesday and wednesday and it's warmer and wet. 58 on wednesday and after that, temperatures are cooling back to seasonable levels with a lot of sunshine thursday, friday, and saturday. >> and you need a variety of different types of jackets. >> and keep switching it off. >> for those liking to show off the fashion, you have an opportunity. >> that's right. >> thank you. and rutgers football season is over. the attention turns to the head coach kyle flood.

here's steve overmyer with the sports update. >> the rutgers football season wrapped up. the focus turns toward the future. the first to go may not be the head coach kyle flood. according to the star ledger, the university is concluding an investigation into failed drug tests and possible recruiting violations. the athletic director is expected to meet with the president this weekend. at 4-7 rutgers would have made a bowl game if there were not enough 6-6 teams out there. they have to beat maryland at first and seemed like this was an open-and-shut case and they jump to a 21-point lead. what can go wrong? apparently everything. if you want to paint it on one guy, it's brendan ross who finds the end zone three times, including the go ahead touchdown. >> fear the turtle, brother.

>> i was expecting worse. >> reporter: what used to be considered the super bowl of in- store shopping, black friday appeared to take a hit, according to some retail analysts. sales were $11.6 billion for the friday last year. and this year, down to 10.4 billion. the black friday sales and early sales figures for small business saturday indicate consumers continue to shift from standing in lines to going online. and americans who were hunting down deals on computers and smartphones are finding more and more internet deals causing online sales to jump 14.3% for black friday. >> retail battle ship wal-mart amazon. >> reporter: that is the ceo of america's research group who said that wal-mart offered deep online discounts thanksgiving morning to compete with amazon. even though many started shopping earlier this year, damage is -- december is expected to be the month where consumers will spend the most

. the nypd said they have a clear picture of a cell phone thief because, get this, he used the phone to snap a selfie and they got this photo from the google account and the victim said he was texting on the galaxy s-3 phone while riding a q train in october. as the train pulled into the station, the alleged thief grabbed the phone and ran off. and there is a gaffe for the city on full displace in brooklyn. the lafayette avenue street sign at the intersection in bed- stuy has an extra y in it. and residents say the sign needs to be fixed. >> and it's hilarious but i am -- it's nothing unusual and a lot of things are misspelled around here. >> and supposedly change it. >> the department of transportation has not said when that sign will be replaced. >> lafayette, right?
