incrediblely warm day. today will set a couple of new records in central park don't think it will happen but around the region i think a couple of records will be broken. yes a wonderful start to your weekend and stays that way for the second half as well. 41 in sparta, 49 in babylon, 50 in greenwich. 44 degrees the normal. we do have clouds over head right now. this will be the scene today. partly sunny skies. it is not going to be sunny. we are not going to see pristine blue skies but you see the warmth. 9:00 a.m. 57 degrees by noon it is 60 and sunny. 3: 00 at 63 degrees and that is your high for today nearly 20 degrees where we should be. 56 plenty of clouds around tonight.

the search is on for several people wanted for connection with a series of robberies in and around central park. there were three incidents on monday and a fourth thursday night. police have identified one suspect as 20-year-old blake caring ton. they arrested a group of teenagers thursday night but later cleared and released them. part of first avenue has been closed since bucks started falling off an upper east side building. apartments evacuated businesses shut down and traffic has been a nightmare for many drivers. crews have had to start taking them off one by one by hand. locals would like to see everything back to normal as quickly as possible but the city office of emergency management is not taking any chances. >> i don't want to keep first avenue closed but it has to be right and the safety of the people and the workers. we didn't have anybody injured

and i'm not going to have anybody injured as we go through this process. >> first avenue between 60th and 64th streets have been closed. they hope to have all of the streets open for monday morning's commute if not earlier. dean and his son are convicted of corruption. a jury found a father and son guilty of eight charges of bribery, contortion and conspiracy. various companies pay a $20,000 commission to adam along with a $70,000 no show job for the son. they maintain they did nothing wrong and plan to appeal the verdict. now to a developing story out of southern california. an arson investigation is under way in riverside county. flames were reported in the islamic center of palm springs. the fire was contained and no one was injured.

he hit behind a stair well of an apartment building then followed the 60-year-old woman into the garbage room and attacks her on madison avenue on wednesday night at 8. the man ran off after the woman's daughter her heard her cry and ran over. she is expected to be okay. a serial arson suspect set three trash fires on austin street in fleshing. he's not a suspect in the recent series of house fires in forest hills. happening today santacon after drunken fights and arrests over the years but this year organizers are taking steps to keep it night. they started planning with police over a month ago and got the proper permits to assemble everyone dressed in santa out fits. for the first time the route

on long island a not guilty verdict for the police officer caught on camera repeatedly punching a suspect. this video of a traffic stop led to charges against officer vincent. kyle how yell was punched 18 times when he disobeyed orders and tried to empty a bag of marijuana hidden in his glove compartment. the judge ruled he did not use excessive force. a stranger tried to snatch a baby while shopping at the green acres mall in oceanside. she took her 18 month old son to the bathroom at kohls for a diaper change when a woman demanded she hand over her

the picture is pretty. it's mostly cloudy and 57 in central park. it's almost absurd. this temperature has barely moved since last night. the wipeds are calm but it is- -winds are calm but it is cooler. spring like temperatures is what to expect today. i don't think we'll break a record in central park but around the region we will. tomorrow more chance for record breaking warmth. there's a rain chance well north of the city today. tomorrow a slight chance late in the day and monday is the most likely day to see wet weather. thursday 60, yesterday 61, today we climb to 63. tomorrow we think 65 degrees if we can get enough breaks of sunshine. this would set a new record in central park. monday 63 degrees. so for today the high of 63 is the normal high for april 20.

cbs 2 is demanding answers and getting action. a williamsburg owner told us he was losing business because of a huge construction fence that's obscuring his store. we first told you about this story on wednesday. he's been struggling ever since the mta started repair work on subway staircases five months ago. yesterday representatives from three city agencies met with the owner and his lawyer. the mta and contractors agreed to lower the height of the fence and replace the top part with plexie glass.
