central park and jfk we did not but today we think it's going to break a record. more record warmth today. in the low to mid 60s for most of us yesterday. yesterday for areas along the new jersey shore it was 70s. it won't be that warm today but 60s will prevail and cloudy. it's 60 in central park, 50 in sparta. i laugh because it's almost absurd to be 60 in mid december at 6:00 a.m. it's 54 in cranberry. we have fog this morning just as we have the past couple of days so that trend continues. cloudy skies, a few passing showers or passing sprinkles today for sure. then as we go into the afternoon we'll be warming up nicely into the 60s. here's the deal.

>> i'm kind of sweating honestly. >> some say the warm december weather is making it difficult to get into the holiday spirit. >> we listened to white christmas, the song i'm hoping it knows for christmas and i'm like it's crazy and definitely definitely not going to snow. >> they hope it only lasts for a few days. >> it's definitely strange around christmas time not having snow. >> it's not unusual to see 60- december. it was actually 62 degrees on christmas last year. we are live in bryant park this morning cbs 2 news. >> all right thanks so much. new this morning an overnight fire at a postal facility in chelsea has damaged six postal vehicle easement the fire broke out around 10:30 last night on 11th avenue. dozens of firefighters responded. we'll get you that video coming up. the trucks were on a third floor of a parking garage.

mail was damaged and exactly what caused the fire. also new this morning police are investigating a shooting at a walmart store in pennsylvania. someone entered the store in east strasburg near the pennsylvania new jersey border with what was described as an guns. the person shot was the gunman. not clear who killed him. a bomb scare put a busy shopping day on hold. shoppers were forced to evacuate the mall in hackensack after a bomb threat was found on a note in the bathroom. it happened yesterday afternoon just after 1. while employees and customers waited outside the bomb squad swept the building. >> we just pulled in and police all over the place and told everybody to get out. the mall was closed. >> it's awful that you can't go shopping for christmas without

after three hours. a new jersey man is behind bars accused killing two people inside their home. raymond yesterday. authorities have not identified the victims. they made the gruesome discovery friday afternoon. the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. bail. a 23-year-old man has been arrested for setting fire to a mosque. he has been arrested on hate and arson charges. plans on the islamic center of palm springs. no one was hurt. the mosque is 70 miles from san bernardino the site of the second radical shooting. some fists did go flying leaving one man injured and another under arrest. this cell phone video from 29 29th street and broadway shows

the suspect began by saying the baby was beautiful. then she said give me the baby while grabbing the child's arm. the suspect left the store in a black liberty cab. crews are working around the clock to get a closed section of first avenue open in time for the monday morning rush. bricks crashed to the street after becoming loose. first avenue at 60th and 64 64th street has been closed ever since. the holiday season is in full swing meaning a lot of holiday tipping. >> many of us are confused. guidelines to consider. >> lots of questions about who gets what. >> do you tip your mailman, your babysitter, your bus driver if you take public transportation into the city every day. >> if you love your bus driver a small gift or card is appropriate. your mail carrier cannot accept cash but you can leave a gift up to $20. as far as a babysitter one

the clouds dominate the forecast and passing drizzle not out of the question. rain in the forecast showers early with the main event late in the evening. as far as will today be a record breaker we do believe it will be for central park. the record stands at 64, forecasting 65. newark as well the forecast- -the record stands at 63 forecasting 64. laguardia breaking records as well. jfk and bridge port you'll come close. we'll see how things shake out today. regardless it's incrediblely warm. normal high is 44 degrees. we'll be more than 20 degrees above that. sunrise at at 7:11, sunset at 4: 45 this evening. specks of green north of the city so spotty drizzle moving through and fog just as we have been the past couple of days

but still looking lovely and warm out there. very mild, high pressure here. winds generally out of the south west but with this front situation as it is winds out of the east so that's going to bring in just a little bit more moisture. regardless it's a december delight. love this mild weather. we have colder weather in the forecast too. if this is enough is enough for you. then tomorrow low pressure makes it's approach. we will see mild rain showers. temperatures still in the 60s. the cold front pushes through late in the day and we'll see significant rainfall. some of us could get a half an inch. it's not enough. we'll need more but tomorrow will not be the day to bust the drought. we are talking about the need for rain but we are not going to get a ton making your way through the day tomorrow. it will be breezy and warm. cooler down to the 50s. how about that. still well above where we should be. warmth. 65 degrees and passing drizzle
