>> reporter: it was a terrifying robbery and home invasion. it's next door to an elementary school police now saying it may have been targeted. 9:30 thursday night, a woman and a female friend returning home thon dead end block, followed inside by two armed with guns. the women and two other people inside, the homeowner's boyfriend and her 12-year-old son tied up with zip ties. >> they had guns? >> yeah, two guns. >> reporter: and how is everybody in this the house? we heard there were injuries? >> just tell us how everybody is doing. >> they're doing better than what they were doing. >> reporter: the victim too shaken up to speak on camera she says she did not know the gunman. police say after ransacking the police for three hour, they fired one shot inside the home and fled with cash in the victim's car. >> scary. just because it could have been us.

saying the home appears to have been targeted, neighbors noting a flow of visitors to the house which recently changed hands. >> always cars in and of the block which is weird. we have families living here that we know. when i see unknown christmas and out of the block, it's a little weird. >> reporter: the victim's car was recovered at 5:00 a.m. abandon thed, no sign of the perpetrators. the father in the house had today to the take him away. >> i thank god nobody was killed. i mean, that could have turned into a bad situation right there. you know, you don't the know what people are capable these days. the 12-year-old boy unharmed. suffolk police asking for anyone with information to give them a call. in bay shore, long island,

>> thank you. two nypd officers are suspended after yet another prisoner escaped. the suspect has since been found but questions remain for the department. we are live at police headquarters in lower manhattan. >> reporter: here's the latest on the prisoner escape in tribeca last night. two new york city cops have been suspended for 30 days. they've off the streets and guns and badges removed, facing retraining in transfers in a dramatic impact on their careers according to the police commissioner. >> there is no more significant responsibility for a new york city police officer than the safeguarding to of a prisoner. one to keep the prisoner safe and also to keep the public safe from them. and last night, two officers failed that responsibility. >> reporter: a 20-year-old in handcuffs and under a jumped out of this police car about 7:30 thursday night in tribeca and ran for it, escaping from custody into the subway.

into the car, he was handcuffed. he managed to somehow to work one of the cuffs off, either as soon as he got out of the car or in the back of the car. >> it's unfortunate that the police can't hang on to people. you're in custody and you can get away. so that's a problem the police have to deal with. >> reporter: and so began the latest manhunt for a prisoner who outwitted the nypd, police closing down the 1, 2 and 3 trains to search for the escapee who will been picked fun for picked up -- picked up for shoplifting. >> we have a significant negligent of duty and shutting the train lines down. so they'll be disciplined. >> reporter: this is the sixth escape from nypd custody since june of this year, perhaps the

him around 11:00 wednesday night inside the subway stop near fulton street in brooklyn. john says he had just gotten off the a train at this station and was walking up the stairs with a crowd of people when he was attacked from behind. >> just feel a bump. i felt something on my face. and didn't think nothing of it i felt my face. >> reporter: he says he didn't get a good look at the attacker who ran off down the train tracks. >> i think it's crazy. they need more police in the station. >> wow. that's all i can safety i don't even understand why. >> reporter: john says he doesn't know why this happened to him but it won't stop him from riding the trains as he has for the last 30 years. >> thankful to be alive. but another than that, this is new york. so in a way, it's surprising but at the same time, not that surprising. surprising that it's actually you.

only able to give police a vague description of the suspect. call police if you have any information. in brooklyn, valerie castro, cbs 2 news. a suffolk county man is under arrest for allegedly scamming multiple people out of money. the 26-year-old joseph fernandez is charged for taking rental deposits and never letting people move in. he was first arrested in continued to scam people resulting in the second arrest. now to campaign 2016. presidential candidate bernie sanders is in trouble with the democratic national committee after a staff member looked at private information of the clinton campaign. the sanders camp says a glitch in the database allowed the staff member to read clinton information about voters. as a result, the dnc temporarily suspended the sanders campaign from accessing the file. the staff member has been fired. another drone scare in the

soon be saint teresa after pope francis said she cured a worshiper's illness. it happened in 2008 after her death when a man with brain tumors was suddenly tumor-free. the vatican credited his wife's prayers to mother teresa. it's the second of two required miracles recognized by the vatican. in 1998, a worker's stomach tumor vanished after praying to the none. >> she is always a good example to the world, when you see a person that's suffer, doesn't matter his religion or where the person comes from, that you have to try to help the person. >> reporter: for most of her career, mother teresa cared for the sick and poor in india. the late pope john paul ii now also a saint waived the usual five-year waiting period for the process. fast tracking her path to sainthood.
