murdock is here with a look at the chilly temperatures. >> it is still breezy this morning. by this afternoon the winds will be significantly calmer. 36 in the city. 27 in monticello. the windchills this morning it feels like 17 in monticello. feels like 28 in central park. you are waking up to -- if on the vortex satellite and radar picture we do have clouds over head right now but generally speaking today will be a mostly sunny day for us but a seasonably chilly day. winds today will be at 5-10 miles an hour. 20. i'll have your full forecast coming up and we'll talk about much warmer weather in the

in fact, we'll talk about record warmth in the extended forecast. back if -- back to you. a store owner has been shot and killed inside his business. >> this morning police are searching for his killer. >> reporter: the shooting happened at this clothing store. investigators were out here all night trying to get answers as to what happened and they're trying to track down a suspect. here's what we know. this is video from the scene after the crime happened. it was at 4:30 yesterday afternoon. the clothing store in question is called top plus. it's in the journal square neighborhood. police tell us a robber showed up with a weapon, a person shot the store owner at least one time in the head. when police showed up they found him dead inside this business. right now there are so many questions about what happened in here. police are not releasing any

there were any customers inside this clothing store when the robber opened fire and took off. >> i live right here and i never heard of crime and stuff like that. very scary. >> reporter: so again police are investigating after a clothing store owner was shot dead during an apparent armed robbery. police say no one else was injured in this store during the crime and at this point they are not releasing the victims name. right now police are asking anyone with information on this

ray ran that gold cbs 2 news. back here at home burr gone county residents are on edge after a string of break ins just days were christmas. four different homes reported robberies on friday. investigators say the thieves broke down doors and smashed windows to get inside. residents say they are stunned. >> i'm shocked because saddlebrook you never hear of things like that here. >> police offer these tips use dead bolt locks with screws that are a few inches long. use motion detectorlighting and keep lights on using timers. flames fill the air at a construction site at hunters point queens yesterday.

kirk missouri was 88 years old. supporters rallied at the world trade center. first responders thanked congress for extending that program permanently. the group river keeper says construction of the new bridge has led to an increase in the deaths. they say there is no credible scientific evidence that the project activities have negatively impacted the sturgeon populations. since construction began they have taken measures to protect sturgeons and other endangered animals.

about the. it is partly cloudy and beautiful. 36. still breezy this morning. winds out of the northwest at 16 miles an hour. windchills are down into the 20s but the winds will be settling this afternoon. it will feel like 44 degrees. as we move into the workweek, here's the outlook. the jet stream will start riding well to our north. temperatures will climb back to well above normal levels. we're also talking about an unsettled midweek. several chances for rain it really starts late monday, tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. so holiday travel plans could be impacted. we are talking record warmth likely now christmas eve. as far as the record warmth we anticipate on thursday the record starts at 53. we are forecasting a high of 68

it feels nothing like the season. as we look at vortex satellite and radar plan it is partly cloudy. today will be a mostly sunny end to your weekend. the day. still. by this afternoon they will be at 5-10 miles an hour gusting to maybe 15-20 at the max. as we look at the forecast hour by hour as i mentioned today lots of sunshine in the mix. over night partly cloudy skies. temperatures becoming many more mild. tomorrow increasing clouds throughout the day. we will be in the 50s for the highs tomorrow. and late tomorrow well north and west of the city showers try to make their way in. there is a better chance tuesday and even better bet wednesday and thursday for us to be dealing with wet weather. mostly sunny, not as windy. 44 degrees your high. over night partly cloudy skies. 38 in the city and translate to 20 in the suburbs. and then for the start of your workweek, it's looking pretty

started last week for the jets. very little room for error if they want to make the post season. it wasn't pretty last night but they are going to take it. dallas was averaging 17 points a game which was good enough for third worst in the nfl. they have also gone through four quarterbacks this season. last nights starter back matt castle didn't last very long angelleen moore as the jets defense ranked up four turn overs. ryan fitzpatrick to eric decker for the lead. still enough time for dallas to come back and make it a game. dan bailey literally nailed it

he's received that he knows he doesn't want and give away to others. he says rule number one never regift items to people in the same gifting circle. >> it can be really dangerous if your best friend sees the gift they thought you were going to love in the home of someone else they are also friends with. >> reporter: number two try to make sure the regift is something the person will actually like. >> the idea here is you are not dumping your junky gifts on somebody else. you are giving it to that person because you think they will generally appreciate it. >> reporter: and never, ever regift in the original wrapping. >> give it a nice fresh wrapping paper. >> reporter: some final tips only regift clothing if it's never been worn and you are sure it's going to fit and every gift should be unused and unopened.

an eight-year-old girl is using her sewing skills to help the homeless during the holidays. >> cats are fun because you get to play with them and they are very kind. >> reporter: eight-year-old willow phelps is turning her love of cats into a true act of kindness.
