comedian steve harvey botches the critical moment of the miss universe pageant by crowning the wrong winner. >> miss universe 2015 is colombia! miss universe 2015 is philippines. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. at least one person was killed and dozens injured when a woman drove her car onto a sidewalk in las vegas. the victims were walking on a busy stretch of the vegas strip. the driver is being held by police who say the crash was not intentional. our las vegas station klax has our report. >> reporter: part of the same las vegas strip was blocked off

piecing together what led a female driver in her 20s to mow down at least 37 pedestrians near the paris casino sunday night. >> we have determined this is an intentional act. that means that our lvmpd homicide section will be handling the investigation. >> reporter: wilts weretnesses were less in shock when a toddler was in the back seat. >> it didn't look like she was trying to stop the car. >> reporter: this is one of several people who tried to stop the vehicle as it drove on the sidewalk, possibly three times. >> i was running down the middle of the street and there was two other guys running with me. we were yelling, like, move, get out of the way, stop! then three guys that were trying to punch out the window. >> reporter: authorities also plan to look for surveillance video in the area. they are also questioning the driver to see if alcohol or drugs played a factor. >> we have a drug recognition, officers that will check to see if the driver of that vehicle

or alcohol, and we also would either take, you know, blood or breath in regards to see if they were intoxicated. >> reporter: officials say several people remain hospitalized. the driver of the car, along with the toddler, were not hurt. cbs news, las vegas, nevada. a bail hearing is scheduled today for enrique marquez who faces federal charges in the san bernardino shooting. marquez allegedly bought the assault rifles used in the attack that left 14 people dead. he was a childhood friend and neighbor of gunman syed farook attacks that were never carried out. the isis terrorists in paris used encrypted apps and allowed them to keep their plot secret. the interview with cook was before the paris attack but cook says his position remains the same. >> here is the situation. on your smartphone today, on

a phony bomb discovered aboard an air france flight. the boeing 777 bound for paris made an emergency landing in kenya yesterday. a passenger discovered the fake bomb hidden in the airplane bathroom. investigators say it was put there during the flight. guest host amy poehler bringing back her impression of clinton and it won't be complete without her co-host tina fey and reprizes her host as sarah palin. gas prices skid. hena daniels is at the new york stock exchange with that and more. good morning. good news if you drive. the price of gas hasn't been this low since 2009. the price tracking website gas lead.com says the national average of regular dropped to $1.99. gas has fallen below $2 in 30 states. prices have dropped because supplies are strong and demand hasn't been huge. those gas prices are being pushed down by the dramatic drop in the price of oil. u.s. crude prices have dropped about 20% since late november. this morning crude hit its lowest price since 2008. and that is affecting stock.

the university of kansas took ugly holiday sweaters to a whole new record setting level. jayhawks fans wore their christmas worst to the men's college basketball game yesterday and that set a new guinness world record of 3,732 sweaters worn all at once. the old record was shy of 2,300. a skier injured at a major crash at this week's world cup of downhill ski racing but a new system is credited for saving him from injury. contessa brewer reports.
