let's get to va this is a murdock who has a look at our forecast. >> it will be very similar to yesterday in regards to temperatures. 40s will feel like the 30s. but after today arctic air will be diving in and it will become frigid. for today though let's start things off live outside at this beautiful live picture. you can see how clear the skies are. sunrise at 7:20. right now 35 degrees with winds out of the southwest at 10 miles an hour. windchills for many of us in the upper 20s. but in central park, 31 is what it feels like. 28 is the windchill. wayne feels like 25. on the vortex satellite and radar. we have a cold front that will be making its way through later today. so expect more clouds as the afternoon progresses. otherwise by noon it is 42. feeling like 35 with tons of sun. by 3:00 our high of 44 will

a few more clouds to build in then. slight snow showers. i'll have your full forecast coming up and we'll talk about how low the windchills go. andrea and dianne back to you. top story this morning breaking news from the bronx where police are investigating a deadly fire that broke out in an apartment building over night. >> cbs 2 ilana gold is live on the scene with more. ilana. >> reporter: dianne, police are telling us a 36-year-old man died in this fire and three other people who live in this building were rushed to the hospital with minor injuries. now we want to show you some new pictures from the scene. take a look. you can see the tenants standing on their balconies minutes after the fire started at 2:30 this morning. this is on east 230th street. they grabbed whatever they could and went down the fire escapes. firefighters tell us the flames were centralized to a third floor unit.

-- the man that lives here did not survive and his name is not being released. the victim just got home from the hospital yesterday. they say he was there for about a week and he returned in a wheelchair so he had limited mobility. the smoke on that floor was smothering and they could barely see. >> i saw smoke it was very dark. >> your whole hallway was full of smoke. >> yes. and i woke up my son and grabbed all the necessary stuff. >> my mom woke me up and we ran to the kitchen window where the fire escape was at and went straight down the fire escape. i threw my little sister on my back and took her down the fire escape. >> reporter: that family says the victims 15-year-old relative was in that apartment when the fire started and they managed to escape. their loved ones were here earlier this morning and as you can imagine, they are just devastated.

is still under investigation. live in the wakefield section of the bronx this morning ilana gold cbs 2 news. new this morning police in new jersey are investigating threats made against newark mayor and the city. they were dated in october. his press secretary released a statement saying quote the city of newark is continuing holiday security precautions in and around city hall because of threat to city facilities and the life of the mayor. police responding to a 911 call in queens on friday night found a 19-year-old woman dead in her wood haven apartment. joslin romo was found laying face down in her bed. police are now saying as of this morning there was blunt force trauma and they are calling it a homicide. the nypd is investigating a double shooting in east harlem. police say it happened last

104th street around 8:00 after an argument. the victims 27-year-old man and 32-year-old man are being treated at local hospitals. their conditions are unknown. police have not made any arrests. hundreds gathered on long island to say a final goodbye to a new york service member killed in afghanistan. air force staff sergeant lewis was one of six americans killed in a suicide bombing on december 21st. the 31-year-old suffolk county native leaves behind a wife and daughter. >> i take comfort in knowing his passing wasn't in vain and he fought doing what he loved so that we may live on to continue his legacy.

riverhead. nypd detective joseph lem was killed in that same attack. thousands of police officers attended his funeral on wednesday. there is growing backlash after saudi arabia's execution of influential shiite. he was one of 47 prisoners killed in a mass execution. the men were part of al qaeda but followers knew him as a peaceful reformer who opposed violence. news of his death sparked a wave of protests around the region. the suspected shooter seen here during a previous arrest is nashat. his father called police after seeing surveillance video of the shooting. he is a troubled mantra matized cousin was killed. he is still on the run.

to the meadow brook parkway saturday night, december 26th. with damaging and potentially devastating consequences. the two passengers in the car were injured and described as lucky to be alive. both charged with felony second degree assault, felony criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment a misdemeanor. plantare leased on $25,000 bail. at his home, the family declined to comment. following the brazen brick throwing the passengers in the bmw22-year-old brianna was wreathed for an eye injury and cut to the mouth. at the victims home. >> he's not here.

stable condition. marley hall cbs news new york. police have just released these images of a suspect. investigators say last month the man entered the building and took a wallet out of a womans purse before taking off. a selfie has landed a california man behind bars. victor and two other suspects robbed a group at gunpoint as they sat in their car on wednesday afternoon. the suspect then sent a selfie to the victim who in turn turned it over to police. the search continues for the other two suspects. better business bureau is out with the top scams for 2015 and there seems to be a trend developing. all of the scams involve imposters. number one on the list the irs

as we started 2016. 40 yesterday. today will be at 44. but with the winds it will feel like the 30s. tomorrow a high of 32 will feel like the teens and 20s. tuesday a high of 30 will feel like the teens and 20s. below seasonable but it's the winds that will make it feel so much worse. here's the deal for tuesday morning. with over night low will be 16 degrees. the last time it was that cold was march 6th. normally low was 26 degrees. but 16-degrees is the temperature. that snot the windchill. the windchills will be in the single digits. here's what we anticipate over night monday into early tuesday. it will feel like below 5 north and west of the city. 0-10 degrees everywhere else. it's going to be very, very shall i say alarming after the incredible warmth and slight chill we've been feeling. high pressure in control for
