32 in monticello, 43 in bell mar. 46 degrees by noon by 3 it's 48. mostly cloudy sort of day. the chance for spotty drizzle and looking at steady heavy rain sometimes moving in through the overnight hours. more on that and record breaking warmth sore the second half of your weekend. details in my forecast. bang to you. >> vanessa thank you. breaking news in the bronx. an nypd officer is shot after a huge fight breaks out on the live. >> the officer was shot around 2 this morning. the scene extends for several blocks. dozens of officers are out here investigating and trying to figure out exactly what happened. police say there was a big fight out here between a group of men. reports of multiple injuries

you can see a knife on one of the street corners. an officer wearing plainclothes drove up to the disturbance, got out of her car and was shot in the ankle. another officer then opened fire. they shot and injured the perpetrator. so the man accused of injuring the officer is in lincoln hospital and so is the injured officer. he's now in surgery and expected to be okay. his name has not been released. the mayor and police commissioner are at the hospital as well and are getting ready to give us a here. we should be hearing from them in the next few minutes on this breaking story and will get you know what they have to say. live in this section of the bronx this morning ilana gold cbs 2 news. the nypd is also on alert after a philadelphia officer was shot while on duty and the gunman pledged allegiance to

the increased patrol comes after the chief of counter counter-terrorism. the in that case you county police department beefed up security. jessica snyder has more now on the philadelphia officer ambushed. >> the attack was at extremely close range. edward archer fired 11 times in into this police car hitting the officer three times. >> shots fired. i'm shot. i'm bleeding heavily. >> officer hartnet called for help before getting out of his cruiser wounded and giving chase. the suspect edward archer was shot and taken into custody. his mother says he felt targeted by police. after being caught he swore his allegiance to isis. >> that's terrible and it does

any way shape or form or any of it's teachings. >> the nypd is ememployering officers to stay alert. they received maim o from the chief of counter-terrorism reminding them there's a continued threat that members of the service face from individuals seeking to target law enforcement personnel for a variety of reasons. it was one year ago that officers were shot and killed inside their patrol car in brooklyn by a man vowing to kill officers as revenge for the death of eric garner. a man armed with a knife lunged at police before he was shot and killed. archer approached the vehicle already firing and was intent to kill. though officer hartnet miraculously survived. >> he had the grace of god first and foremost. i can't explain it based on my beliefs any other way. he had a will to live. >> philadelphia police say the

stolen from an officer in 2013 but investigators still do not of it. new information this morning on a career criminal charged with stealing thousands of dollars from a westchester church one day after being released from prison. brian cony reports the alleged thief may also have targeted a local school. >> caught on surveillance video robbing a church in bronxville prison. that's the allegation against the 63-year-old seen here entering the church on new years eve. the yers native hangs around as parishonners arrive for mass. he waits until the collection

caught on surveillance cameras. in bronxville brian conybear cbs 2 news. >> we reached out to the school superintendant late last night but have not heard back yet. new york city's aging transit system is getting modern high-tech upgrades. the governor has announced a five year $20 billion plan including all 277 subway stations getting wifi and cell phone service. 1500 buses will have wifi hot spots and usb charging stations by 2018 and charging stations will be installed by the end of year. the jack pot surges to a record $800 million. there have been no jack pot winners since november 4 and it's been growing ever since. tonight's drawing will be the biggest ever beyond the

t os an unruly passenger forced a united airlines flight from a flight to chicago to detroit. four passengers helped restrain brianna carson when police say the 22-year-old attacked a flight attendant and other passengers. authorities say the woman franticky requested to get off the plane 30 minutes into the flight. >> she said i'm bipolar and forgot my medication and continued with the screaming and yelling. >> we tied her up. you had to do something. clearly the flight attendant was in danger. >> the woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a crew member.

out to be an unwelcoming place for one muslim woman. in--[yelling] >> the 56-year-old was kicked out after she stood up in silent protest when trump suggests syrian refugees were supportive of isis. police escorted her and three other people out. the trump campaign told them in advance to kick out anyone causing a disturbance. a north carolina man is behind bars after planning to kidnap the dog after receiving a tip. agents say they found weapons and ammunition inside his truck. he's charged with possess acing an unregistered firearm and ammunition. it was a rough week for investors closing down friday to end the worst week since

cloudy skies. then tomorrow with record warmth for we think everybody it will be a sunday soaker so the steady stuff starts overnight and persists through sunday morning with more possibility for rain tomorrow afternoon. then as we make our way to monday it's a big drop off. you will be back into winter by then. as we look at tomorrow's record warmth forecasting a high of 60 degrees the record right now standing at 60. that was set back in 1876. so it's been awhile since we felt such warmth in january. looking at the vortex satellite and radar picture we know we do have a few sprinkles out there. even the hint of a little bit of freezing rain and sleet. it would be passing quickly moving on through but could make for slick road conditions this morning. this ahead of a bigger system impacting our plans overnight through the morning hours

this area of low pressure will be lifting up from texas and the deep south bringing with it plenty of moisture. many of us see between an inch and an inch and a half and behind that system dry air makes it's way for monday and tuesday with the potential late tuesday into wednesday for snow. tonight into tomorrow here's the deal. a few showers early today. then overnight steady stuff move in after midnight. could be heavy at times especially through your morning hours. if you have plans to be out you'll want to dress accordingly with the umbrella in hand. then by sunday afternoon late we will be clearing on out. strong gusty winds will be in play for the duration of this event. the winds begin ramp up late today overnight and gusting as high as 30 miles per hour tomorrow. then after the warmth the cold air plunges in. monday it will be cold. in fact temperatures drop off by 20 plus degrees from sunday into monday.

bronx an nypd officer has been shot after a huge fight broke out outside of an illegal party. >> a news conference just happened with more details from the scene. ilana. >> as you mentioned we just heard from the police commissioner and the mayor. they tell us the officer who was shot is 25-year-old sherrod stewart who ball carrier shot in the ankle. this happened on east 138th street and lincoln avenue. there's a huge police presence out here. dozens of officers blocking up the streets while they investigate. the problem started at 2:00 a.m. this morning. there was a huge party and a fight that spilled onto the street and five people were stabbed. officer stewart and his partner responded to multiple 911 calls and when the officer got out of his car he was shot in the ankle. he fired back and hit the suspect. the perpetrator has been

he is now in custody at lincoln hospital listed in serious condition. he has a long criminal history and just got out of jail three hours before the shooting. officer stewart is also at lincoln hospital recovering in stable condition. he had surgery and is expected to be okay. he also has his family by his side. police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened out here. we'll make sure to keep you updated on this breaking story. live in the bronx this morning ilana gold cbs 2 news. thank you. mexico's president says mission accomplished now that el chappo is captured after spending six months on the run. handcuffed el chappo was led to a military helicopter last night. he was taken back to the same maximum security prison he escaped from. dick brennan has more. >> he looked dazed and confused

face justice. mexican marines captured him in a predawn raid in mexico. authorities found him hiding out in his house. his men appeared ready for war and had many weapons including a rocket propelled grenade launcher. five of his men were killed in a gun battle and he may have tried to escape through a sewer. he's been on the run since his escape from prison back in july. it was a humiliation for the mexican government. years. embarrassment on his second escape and so much pressure for the mexico and the u.s. to be able to apprehend him. >> al chappo is only 5-foot 6 but he's one of the most violent drug lords in the world believed to be responsible for 34,000 deaths and controlling

funneled into the u.s. this map shows the areas in orange linked to his cartel. here. sources tell cbs news the tip leading to his arrest came from u.s. law enforcement. he's wanted in six states here on drug related claims and in chicago he's considered public enemy number one. dick brennan cbs 2 news. back here at home police are warning women in the village about a suspect wanted for sexual assault. investigators released a sketch of a man in a surveillance photo that shows him near the crime scene. the man followed a 23-year-old victim home from the subway station sunday morning, knocked on her door saying he lived in the building and smelled smoke. once inside her apartment he hit and choked the woman and sexually assaulted her. >> i think it's horrifying, especially here. it's a very safe neighborhood
