police just moments ago identified the suspect as craig miskiski. they are holding a news conference as we speak about this crime that left many nervous. very scary. >> it took less than 24 hours for nassau county police to track down this man wanted for allegedly from trying to kidnap the stroller a 65-year-old baby sitter was pushing on west broadway in woodmere. >> that's scary. >> the sitter was push ing the 20-month-old when the suspect approached saying she was pushing a dead baby. was alive. he said he needed to take the baby. the sitter got scared, went back home and locked the doors. the suspect

that's as far as he was able to go yelling give me the dead baby through the locked kitchen door. >> he stole the child's stroller and went to the pizza place in hewlett where he left it on the side of the building and was caught on their video cameras. >> our cameras caught him wheeling a carriage. he was was in there. >> neighbors say the crime was frightening. >> that's madness. i have kids. we have four kids and we live right here in the neighborhood. that could have happened where we lived at. >> nassau police arrested the suspect this morning down the block from the pizza place inside this office building. >> my wife's office was the one broken into. he broke in and slept through the night there. >> reporter: the child or the baby sitter none of them were hurt. police say the suspect

he's now facing several charges including attempted unlawful imprisonment. carolyn gusoff is at that news conference right now and will have more coming up later tonight online and on cbs 2 news beginning at 5:00. for now reporting live in hewlett, andrea grymes, cbs 2 news. now to breaking news in brooklyn. the fifth suspect accused of raping a teenager in a park last week is in police custody. janelle burrell is live in prospect heights with the latest on this breaking development. janelle. >> reporter: we're just get ing ting word that that 17-year-old was arrested this morning at his high school that he attends in brooklyn. police telling us he's the accused ring leader in this case, the one accused of holding the gun threatening the father. as for his four other accomplices all of them are

>> the other four young men ages 14 to 17 seen here on surveillance video now facing charges including rape and sex abuse. >> community leaders this morning expressing their disgust. >> it's out rage that a woman in our community is allegedly raped. >> sources tell cbs 2 that the 18-year-old victim admits she was drin ing was drinking in osborne park with her father when the men approached. they ordered the father to leave at gunpoint. he left and went to get help for his daughter. >> at the end of the day we just want to make sure that we do right by the individual, by this victim and make sure that those that committed this crime or were involved go to jail. >> they told investigators that the intercourse with the 18-year-old was consensual. >> reporter: we just learned

in this case, a 17-year-old, was arrested at his high school in brooklyn earlier this morning. it's not clear whether or not the gun used during the incident has been recovered. as for the other four suspects, they are expected to be in court sometime later today. reporting live janelle burrell, cbs 2 news. it's been a whacky winter from the 60s and rainbows on sunday to bitter cold today to snow on the way. the new york city sanitation department is ready. plows are lined up to get hitched to trucks if there's enough snow to plow. john elliott is in the weather center. how much snow will we get? >> i think new york is not alone. many communities around the area are gearing up to treat the roads. this is not a lot of plowable snow that we're talking about. those roadways are going to get slippery. first off the pressure. brings a lot of us.

going to be dealing with a front that pushing through. snow falling in the atmosphere, not succeeding in hitting the ground yet. we are going to see flurries this afternoon as the front pushes through. in the city that south wind making it feel warmer. we're seeing some mixing, a little bit of rain. we are not anticipating a lot of snow, a trace to half an inch in the city, a little over an inch north and west. when you look at the numbers it's way below normal. this year just a trace of snow so far. by this time last year we were at least at 3.7 but we should be at 7.5. this is not that kind of snow maker. the problem is cold air plays a role in this and that will lead to some icing. we'll talk more about that and tell you when the storm the head out here in the full forecast coming up in a bit. right back to marry. >> john, thank you very much.

curve and slamming into a flower shop. emily smith is live in the stapleton section. emily. >> reporter: good afternoon, mary. look behind me and you can see that boarded wall. that's where the police sergeant crashed through the wall early this morning. >> this video shows the nypd patrol car smashed into a stapleton section of a staten island business leaving a gaping hole. the sergeant was heading down bay street when he lost ricky. closed. >> the sergeant suffers from high blood pressure that caused the flower shop has been open for 2 years. >> i saw a lot of police here. there's a lot of damage. damaged. >> reporter: and we've been morning. she said they're waiting for the building to be inspected before they can decide

police sergeant, he went to the hospital and was treated for minor injuries. emily smith, cbs 2 news. >> thank you. a truck crash caused major delays on the bqe during the morning rush. chopper 2 flew over the scene around 6:00. a truck carrying garbage flipped on its side blocking an entrance ramp to the bqe. at first all lanes were shut down causing a major delay. it took 4 hours to fully clear up this mess. at least 10 people are dead after a suicide bombing in turkey's capitol. as tina kraus reports, isis is expected in the terrorist attack. >> turkey police kept people back as first responders rushed to save women. it happened in an area popular with tourists.

the attack and said a 28-year-old syrian man is responsible. he blew himself in a crowded park near the blue mosque. most of the victims were part of a german tourist group. the german chancellor said international terrorism is showing its cruel face once again. >> islamic state militants were blamed for attacks last year in turkey. tina kraus, cbs news. >> turkey is dealing with more than 2 million syrian refugees and a wave of migrants from syria and other countries. here at home as president obama begins his last year in office americans are divided about the job he's doing. 46% approve of how he's doing, 47% disprove. the numbers have not changed much in the last year. compared to other presidents

livingston. interesting you head down south and this is john in tom's river and an interesting comment too, wind from the south at 17 miles per hour. so he's at 45 degrees. he said the bay is get ing ting choppy. definitely windy but north down. proof of that from charlie. we have snow there. eva wanted to point out that her crystal ball is showing some snow as well. it depends on where you live. parts of long island will get a blast of snow but you'll see rain mixing in as well. it's a waiting game. the wind has seen shifted out of the south at 20 miles per hour.

shore. wind chills still a factor moving cool wind down. we're down to a real feel of 36 in the city but that's 8 degrees warmer than it was yesterday because of that south wind. likely at our high right now. sunset at 4:49. we have a little bit of wet weather in the atmosphere not hitting the ground yet but it will as rain for long island. it's some snow into the hills of sussex and warren county. the low is off to the north and to the west. that pushes off bringing up snow. for the city maybe a 10th to a quarter of an inch. a couple of inches north and west. it's into the busy afternoon hours we start to see that mixing. there's that blast of snow though over night. could see a afternoon.
