and tunnels are now open. >> they are assessing conditions and buses are expected to be up and running as the travel ban lifts and full subway service metro north long island railroad and new jersey transit is expected as well. >> we are live with team coverage but first we begin with meteorologist john elliot. >> not that we are counting but the travel ban lifted four seconds ago. it was just so challenging. you were stuck in the city. so my concern for you and i guess my advice is that even though the ban is lifted to take it easy. where the plowing has been done certain intersections very slippery and you are going to have bumps of snow that will quickly become slush and ice over tonight so you still have to be diligent and smart as you head out today. this is what you are heading into. a very quiet city that will come to life in a dramatic fashion on this day. clearing and 22.
7:01 am
observation from the park up to 20 miles per hour. air temperature readings as low as 6 in the area but now have wind chills a little lower. pretty typical in the sunrise hour the numbers retreat a bit but it feels like 3 in bedford and 2 below in liberty. the wind chill in the city is just 12. hour by hour we are still going to factor those wind chills into your kay. 29 at lunch time feels like 19. 34 your high still shy of the mark and that wind over the snow pack is going to make it feel colder and speaking of that snow pack 15 to over 30- inches in the bright color. there the blue that's a few inches to some folks flirting with a foot and then i did not care basically nothing in the white. clean up is going to be a big chore. pace yourself and wear sunglasses too. back to the desk. >> sorry for coughing.
7:02 am
drink i started choking instead of swallowing it. >> now that the snow has stopped falling it's time to dig out. >> and a lot of parts of the area it's not going to be an easy task. alice gainer is driving around checking out the roads for us now that the travel ban has lifted. good morning alice. >> good morning. that travel ban just lifted but we saw a few people out on the road earlier before it was lifted probably heading to work i resume. we are again on marks street now. i keep coming back to the street because i keep checking to see if the plows have come through but so far they have not. it looks like one or two passes was made mere. you can see how think the snow is and all of the covered cars next to me. we've been driving around elsewhere the main roads are fantastic. the plows have been going back and forth but the side streets you just don't know what you are going to get. a lot of them are okay but it's
7:03 am
i keep driving through helping to pack down the snow. i caught up with a couple of people earlier who were getting a head start snow blowing their driveways and dig digging their cars out. he felt bad he left his car out on the street. >> i should have parked in the driveway. it was foolish. >> so that's your car. i didn't see it. >> it's buried under the snow. i can't put the snow on the street because i'll get a ticket so i'm doing the best i can. >> now we are on little clove road and as you can see black top surface everywhere so they are doing a really good job and there's our friend again there on the left. let's roll down the window and check on him. al is 81 and he's got quite a task ahead of him. i told him to take breaks. >> how is it going? >> i'm getting there. >> we can start to see more of the car here. all right we are going to come back around i think and help you.
7:04 am
thanks al. >> diane, andrea i think we are going to help this gentleman because he is older and officials have been saying to check on the elderly and neighbors and that's what we are going to do here so we are going to send it back to you in the studio. live in mobile 2 alice gainer. >> being a great reporter and great citizen all at the same time. thanks alice. >> thank you. despite the travel ban that was in the city police responded to 400 crashes and hundreds of disabled cars during the storm. >> take a look at this video. a driver lost control of his car in the wood lawn section of the bronx. three parked cars. the driver got out, looked at the damage and drove away. no one was hurt. >> hopefully there wasn't a lot of damage then. >> here's a look at the mass tractionit situation. right now no service on metro north, long island railroad and subway.
7:05 am
jersey transit is also shut down. the governor hopes trains will run for the monday commute. >> and as the storm passed water is a major concern. a coastal flood warning remains in effect across the jersey shore. >> meg baker joins us live now. meg? >> good morning. we are here standing right in a drift now. this may look like it's all snow but it's not. underneath here just a few inches this is all sand right here that was due to all of those high winds yesterday. eddie behind the camera today a little bit nicer conditions here. this is the wind we experienced on the beach. lots of snow from the three foot berm on the beach here creating these large drifts but the real story is this flooding. last night we do have pictures of the flooding that there was ice floating in the water down fourth avenue, first avenue near houses that were not raised after superstorm sandy and it was all caused because of the high tide.
7:06 am
standing right next to the inlet here where the ocean meets the bay and it was a dangerous combination of strong winds at 50 to 60 miles per hour that held this water in the inlet. with the first high tide yesterday morning and again last night around 7:00 p.m. because of the winds the water got trapped in this inlet and officials are nervous that's going to happen again this morning. high tide around 7:30 and this right now is low tide. you can see the water is already coming up over onto this walkway right here. now behind me it's a gorgeous view. eddie if we can give them a view of this right here you can see the sun is coming up. those waves hitting that jeddie quite hard. we'll take a walk on the beach later on and show you how the berm did hold up. those berms were built by the army corps of engineers to hold up to a 100 year storm. they did their job this weekend. live diane and andrea. >> it's a pretty scene out
7:07 am
there than yesterday. >> we could barely see meg yesterday. >> looking nice. flooding is also a major concern on long island. >> jennifer mclogan is live this morning in freeport. how does look there? >> diane, andrea, john good morning. sunrise in freeport. a beautiful sight here. we await the next high tide 8:24:00 a.m. and as you can see the water is starting to rise here. we are standing along the wood cleft canal which was heavily damaged during sandy. we were here when boats literally floated down main street, restaurants closed. here yesterday near white out conditions. blizzard big gust damaging winds of 55 miles per hour. still pseg reported just minor outages. the white out conditions continued for most of the day. the mayor says fortunately the newly built sea wall held and that was very good. just a few of these
7:08 am
about six inches of water that came up but quickly retreated. the cars over here were moved to higher ground and businesses that are up and down this strip here all of the sea food restaurants, they closed down. we visited a short time ago the office of emergency management where calls had come into report car wrecks in nassau county, 74, in sussex county, 62. those numbers would have been so much higher if the roads had not been closed. we also spoke to the health commissioner about the dangers of snow shovel allege when the sun comes up today. >> doctor, this morning people are digging out. advice. >> absolutely be very careful when they clean snow off of their walks and shoveling snow is a rigorous activity. we don't want to see what we typically see after a snow storm where 911 gets called for
7:09 am
especially when the roads are not great for first responders to come rescue you. >> a man fell off a ladder removed snow from his roof and a woman suffered a snow blower injury. all in all though there was no shut down--people were not stranded in cars on the long island expressway for days like last time around. nor stranded in the long island railroad trains because there was a shut down and that worked out very well. right now the people in freeport are waking up to dig out and keeping a big eye on the next high tide. we are live in free port this morning, jennifer mclogan cbs 2 news. >> good advice thank you. crews have been working to restore power from the storm. >> jersey power and light has over 3400 customers without

the 109th precinct in queens tweeted this video of flooding asking people to avoid that area unless you are a snow plow in which case they could use your help. >> queens got slammed with two feet of snow. >> vanessa murdock joins us live where some residents are already starting to dig out. vanessa? >> ladies as early as 3: 30 this morning one gentleman was out trying to dig himself out from what you see here. the remnants of this not just the two plus feet of snow but the plows piling it up on top of that. so across queens, across the
7:13 am
this scene oh so familiar this morning. i want to say this, at laguardia airport we set a new record for a single day snow fall and some are out enjoying it this morning. i think he's got a blow on the front of that thing. see if he'll come up and talk to us. come this way. i'm beckoning him. pretty cool gadget. i would like to ride around on the city. good morning can we talk to you? how are you doing? >> good how are you? >> are you going to ride around and make some money with this thing? >> yeah definitely. >> i'm curious are you taking this off road as well? >> no i use it upstate to go around the trails and i keep it down here for the winter time because my father is a contractor and he owns a couple houses in the area and i like to clean up his houses and everything and make money on the side. >> so it's fun. >> it's awesome. >> so when you heard the totals
7:14 am
knew you had over two feet of snow what was your reaction? >> i was happy you know because i knew i was going to make some money. i love this stuff. the cops don't really bother you when there's snow like this. >> they know you are helping out. >> yeah especially with a plow and this is a utility quad not like a racing one so even though it does go fast i do have lots of fun but i like this stuff. everything is good. >> what is your name. >> john carl o. >> thank you so much for stopping we really appreciate you. have a great day all right? take care. bye-bye. >> okay i can't really talk over that. that's really challenging to do. a noisy piece of equipment but a beneficial one for today. we will have more from whitestone in queens throughout the morning but for now vanessa murdock with white snow for cbs. >> very nice. he peeled out and came right back around. >> vanessa needs to go for a ride.
7:15 am
>> the ban on cars in manhattan, long island was lifted about 15 minutes ago at 7:00. >> but while it was in place pedestrians had the city streets to themselves and made for unusual scenes like this one. people were spreading out all over the sidewalks and into the streets. people on skis going around. some found those cross country skis were the best way to get through the city. >> and people on the upper east side used the streets and sidewalks at the normally busy corner of lexing ton avenue. we found lots of people walking around. >> such a contrast to what that looks like. >> yes for sure and the reason for the car ban this yellow cab stuck in the snow. this was the fate of many cabs before the ban took effect at 2:30 yesterday afternoon. >> we had hazel sanchez driving around and she kept passing all of these cars stuck in the streets.
7:16 am
state put that ban into effect to make sure everyone stayed safe. the nypd was enforcing it but were making sure people stayed off the roads. >> now it's time to dig out those cars and see what we can expect for the rest of the weather. that's a tough one. john elliot? >> you really need some weather. good morning to you guys and good morning to you. i know yesterday was difficult. people were just stuck. they were just locked in where they were but now we actually reap the benefits of that travel ban because the crews were able to do so much good work overnight. now as we get more cars on the road that will help too. do be mindful of intersections you are going to see where they plow sometimes there's a speed bump made out of snow. in the city there's no snow falling. let's go for a walk, get the dogs out, let the kids play and maybe skate and take pictures. lots of them. it's pretty out there. nice lighting later today too.
7:17 am
and snow will shine. 22 winds out of the northwest at 20. air temperature reading at 6 in franklin, 18 in seagirt, 19 in. with the window it feels like 3. feels like 2 below. so any wind over snow pack is going to give you a chill right at the surface and will also serve to keep surfaces slippery so watch your step. if you are going to measure snow in your back yard, three measurements away from the house and trees. try to avoid drifts to get an accurate measurement. just for fun. as we measure the winds into the afternoon they will subside and the good news is overnight tonight it's a still chill so wind not as much of a men yays. now those persistent and damaging tropical storm warnings led to flood warnings for many of our neighbors along the coast.
7:18 am
right now key time seeing those high tide cycles roll through middlesex county. you are still under a flood warning and even though you had less snow you had enough and well. speaking of snow the average 25.8. this storm we beat the average by an inch but believe it or not we didn't do it we are in second place right there. missed it by .1. so yeah parts of the city it was a record smashing storm. so if you look around there's that to celebrate. we are celebrating the exit of that low that finally took off and over the next few days we are not anticipating many changes. this is a future cast. want it show you clouds over head. and by tuesday a little bit of light rain. what do you mean rain? that's right there's a big warm
7:19 am
blessing with this storm. the biggest thing was it was a saturday but we are going to sanities recovery of the temperatures but just be smart. we've got real important reminders things you have to do around the car and house this afternoon as you get ready to clean up today. >> luckily during the day not seeing freezing temperatures but at night we are so do you have to worry about the rain and melting and refreezing. >> as you get ready for work you got to get it down to the pavement and get it dry because any moisture will refreeze. >> good tips. thank you so much. dangerous high tides sent water spilling into neighborhoods on the jersey shore. streets. something the mayor says they were not expecting. the mayor says he considers this weekend's storm bigger than superstorm sandy. >> i think it's worse than sandy because of the weather. it's cold, it's snowing. it's icy. >> as if the storm was not bad enough yesterday afternoon city
7:20 am
through the snow to put out a fire at the avalon coffee shop. luckily no one was hurt. >> they had their work cut out for them. washington d.c. the city was bracing for an epic storm and that's what we got. >> more than 30-inches of snow fell. don champion is live from the capital with the story smiling this morning. hi don. >> yeah good morning andrea and diane. the washington post called the storm a blizzard for the ages and that's exactly what it was. it was a rough one to get through but look at the beauty it left behind. inches of snow. for the record books this in terms of snow fall was the fourth biggest storm on record here in washington d.c. to the north in baltimore it was the biggest storm on record there. the digging out process was capital. a number of road crews going out and about today trying to clear many of the roads here.
7:21 am
in many areas just yet but a crews. not seeing many people out on the roads either which is good. officials are telling folks to be patient as the clean up process begins. there were two major highways in the area i-70 and 270 were shut down yesterday. we are told those roadways should reopen some time today and already andrea and diane at least two school districts here have canceled classes for tomorrow. a lot of happy sledders here in the nation's capital this morning. >> at least we can see the capital behind you. yesterday we could barely see it with the snow coming down. >> yeah that's right. the snow was falling at a rate of two to three inches an hour and that was really hard for the road crews to stay ahead of the storm but it's a beautiful sight here. we saw near white out conditions here yesterday but it's a beautiful day today thankfully. >> glad to see the capital and see you smiling today don thank you. and we'll have more after the storm coverage coming up in

commuters in this area are waiting to learn when transit systems will be back on track. >> as we take a live look outside there's a beautiful shot of the skyline. joining us on the phone is kevin ortiz. thank you for your time. the governor just put out a press release moments ago. what's the latest in terms of subway and bus service. >> so we will be able to restore out door service on the majority of our subway lines with the following exceptions. we are still working on the n and q lines. the out door sections in brooklyn as well as that shuttle.
7:25 am
rockways as well as staten island railway. but other than that we will be able to restore normal subway service by 9:00 this morning. >> the under ground portions are still running on the n and q is that correct? >> that's correct. running normal. >> what about the long island railroad and metro north. >> metro north will start to ramp up service beginning at 12: 00 with the hopes of getting to a normal schedule or as close to a normal schedule by around 3 this afternoon. my understanding is that long island road is still dealing with issues related to heavy snow accumulations. there are parts of the system in long island that are covered in two feet of snow so they are continuing to restore service as quickly as possible. >> give us a sense, kevin, any issues or problems that you see in the infrastructure, the third rails and switches? give us an update on that. >> right that's where we are
7:26 am
terms of the n and q and the rockways where those are referred to as open cuts. they are out door portions of our lines but they are not elevated so the snow has nowhere to go so it's challenging to get our equipment through there. the snow blowers, deicers and jet blowers in order to get snow from the track and ice off of the third rail. >> any other challenges to try to get things up and running? >> getting service back will continue. it's an on going thing. we'll work with crews to track workers out doing everything they can to restore service as well as station personnel clearing the platforms and staircases. so we are working hard and at some point today we'll get there. >> luckily today of course is a sunday. a lot of people are home. what can people expect tomorrow with the work week and school week? >> well starting today i mean we should let customers know
7:27 am
service back it will be far from a normal sunday service. for example on buses we brought buses back but that's being done incrementally so starting out with 1,000 buses ramping up to 2300 buses by 4: 00 this afternoon but that's still only about 80% of normal service for a given sunday. and we'll continue to work throughout the day to hopefully have a normal rush hour tomorrow morning. >> any estimates on what to expect scheduling wise on the trains that are rubbing on delays--running on delays under ground. >> it won't be a full sunday compliment so while we will have service customers can still expect some delays and some head ways that are a little bit off. >> kevin we thank you for your

>> we'll be right back. with ingredients like roasted hazelnuts and cocoa, the delicious taste of nutella takes pancakes to a whole new level.

a state of emergency declared for parts of the tristate area. the travel back has been lifted in new york and all port authority tunnels and bridges are reopen at this hour. mta subway service is running on most lines but with delays. >> still flooding concerns along parts of long island. our cameras were rolling as a river of ice passed by our crew. >> we'll have a live interview with chris christie coming up. good morning it's just after 7:30 on sunday january 24. i'm andrea grymes. >> i'm diane macedo. first we start off with meteorologist john elliot here in the stud o with us after being trapped in the city. >> a lot of folks by me take the bus in on sunday so very mindful of bus service being reinstated by mid day and also
7:30 am
we think broadway is back in business talking to jim about the city opera. that was a big cancellation and hurt last night so trying to ease you back into the routine of sunday in the city. the city right now awfully pretty and coming to life in more ways than one going to see cars out there so be mindful for that. big change in the dynamic of the roadways. clearing and 22. wind is up this hour. air temperature readings. 6 in sparta. 19 in summit, 18 in toms river. they are still under a flood warning. high tide cycle to the next hour along the coast could see problems. nothing like the extend of the problems we saw yesterday. wind chill something to consider all day long. 34 your high still feels like 27. bundle up and watch your step. very important reminders about
7:31 am
right back to andrea and diane. >> staten island was hit especiallily hard especially hard yesterday. >> good morning alice. >> good morning. we are along victory boulevard right now. we've seen more cars out and about this morning as the travel ban has been lifted as of 7:00 a.m. this morning. more and more people are waking up. we are seeing them outside with their snow blowers trying to dig out their cars. we ran into one gentleman who was 81 years old so mad at himself. he left his car on the road and felt bad about it because of the work the sanitation workers had to do so he was digging his car out. driveway. >> that's your car. i didn't see it there. >> yeah it's in there. i can't put the snow on the street because i'll get a
7:32 am
>> and he was doing the best he could and my photographer matt and i decided to hop out and help him out. he's 81 years old. he insisted he didn't need our help but we got to help each other out in times like this. let's see if this gentleman will talk to us. this is cyprus avenue and the snow has compacted down on the ground. the main roads you can see black top but the side streets are slippery over here. hi are you shoveling? we are on cbs 2 right now. what time did you get up this morning. >> a couple of minutes ago. >> and what was your reaction when you came out here. >> beautiful. >> beautiful? >> yeah. >> not mad at all. >> only at the mayor. >> how come? >> we are not allowed to drive. >> the travel ban is lifted and we can travel now. >> you got to dig out first. >> i'm almost done. >> what's your name. >> thanks so much. good luck. >> thanks.
7:33 am
here in staten island everyone is waking up and digging out. they've got these massive snow piles in front of their driveway. we'll send them back to you in the studio and deep driving around. >> he woke up quick after. >> nice wake up outside. allegation thank you. let's get a look at the conditions in westchester county. >> ilana gold is live. how is it out there? >> well andrea people here in yonkers are going to be waking up to a big mess. it snowed almost two feet here huge. check this out. the snow goes to my knees. actually past my knees. i'm only 5 feet so it's tough to navigate through. i'm goes to try and get to this- -going to try and get to this car. you can barely see it. it is just buried in snow. we have seen hundreds of cars that look just like this so
7:34 am
their work cut out for them when they are digging out later on today. we want to show you this video we shot this morning on lindsay street and we ran into a man who brought out his snow blower and is trying to clear his street. we noticed some of the side streets are in bad shape packed full of snow slushy and icy. this man told us he really had to take matters into his own hands. he has to get to work in just a few hours. here's what he had to say. >> how early were you up doing any. >> 3 in the morning because i'd like to go to work and i cannot get out. >> describe how much snow there is out here? >> it's a lot as you can see. i'm afraid the car is going to get stuck here. i don't know. >> when was the last time you saw this much snow here? >> i've seen it a lot since 1993, 96, a couple years ago we had quite a lot too. >> and this is such hard work.
7:35 am
it's cold and hard. >> i'm just trying to get out of the street and go to work. >> how long longer are you going to be out here for. >> i don't know. i don't even know if i'm going to be able to make it. that's the point. i'm afraid i'm going to get stuck here. look how high the snow is here. >> pretty incredible. >> definitely is. >> an incredible sight here in yonkers and while there is trouble on the side streets the main streets are plowed and passible. this is a look at yonkers avenue and we haven't seen drivers having problems here. if you are heading out today it's important to note some of these streets are icy and it can catch you off guard so just make sure to be careful and take it slow. live this morning ilana gold. >> you feel so bad for that guy. glad you caught up with him. i hope he got out.
7:36 am
to work during this is not good. ilana thank you. try to dodge that really tall snow. we might not see her again. here's a look at the mass transit situation. mta resumed at 7:00 a.m. no service on metro north, the long island railroad and above ground subways. some will resume by 9:00 a.m. and no new jersey transit and buses. waiting for an update on that. >> the nypd was enforcing the travel ban yesterday as the roads became especially dangerous. this video was shot at west 57 57th street and the west side highway. officers stopped drivers who were violating the ban risking fines or even possible arrest. >> over in new jersey flooding was a major concern on that coastal area. the roads were shut down in dozens of cities along the jersey shore where huge chunks
7:37 am
floating down these flooded streets. the water is knee deep. many towns are still rebuilding after the damage done by superstorm sandy. >> shore communities were hit hard. meg joins us live from there. >> andrea and diane this area here was completely covered in water with the video you just showed. from monmouth to cape may county the coast really got hit hard with this storm. the south shore getting hit the hardest. now this area is about to be high tide. water already coming over the bulk head. this is a sidewalk normally a walking path and the water already starting to flow up here. officials main concern is this was the third high tide coming this morning where this water is trapped in the inlet. the next high tide will build on top of this. now we are standing here and jim just came to check out the damage right? >> yup. >> what did you see here? >> that's amazing. i came over the bridge into still a foot of water just
7:38 am
my house is over here. i stayed at my parents house last night and dug them out and my sister inland had more snow. but over here it's just flooding everywhere. >> yeah we see a lot of drifts that it's deceiving. it looks like it's snow drifts but it's actually sand underneath there because we saw 50 to 60 miles per hour winds on this beach yesterday. looks like the dunes held up pretty well. >> looks great. the waves are still amazing so i'm excited about taking a look at everything. >> did you check out the inside of your house? any water. >> no water in my house. strangely enough everything is destroyed one street over. >> what street is that? >> i'm on third and that was first. everything is flooded. >> a lot of houses weren't raised. >> i was very lucky. i still haven't dug myself out. i've been working with other people. >> don't get hurt. >> thanks so much. >> we'll show you the dunes we are talking about a three foot
7:39 am
these were built by the army corps of engineers three foot berm that would be enough sand to handle another 100 year storm and looks like it worked. the sand was tossed around quite a bit. this we showed you isn't just snow. underneath here this is all sand. these dunes washed up along this path. there's a small roadway not for cars but for walking here. then the houses are basically right up on the beach. so really these dunes served as big protection here. also spoke to bell mar's mayor. he said they are in great shape and were pushing their dunes up higher to prepare and it looks like that paid off. live meg gabe baker cbs 2 news. >> good to hear. things could have been a lot worse meg. thank you. we'll have more after the storm team coverage in just a moment.

the wood cleft cabal where the water is rising. high tide 8:24:00 a.m. but it seems to be holding. a newly built berm protecting homes and business owners unlike during sandy when boats floated down the street and restaurants were you are ruined. we are joined now by mayor robert kennedy to explain what is going right in this storm. >> good morning how are you doing? well thank god we dodged a bullet on this storm. we've had two high tides already and minimal flooding throughout the streets. the village installed many back flow preventers. we've replaced a couple of bulk heads and the tide didn't come up as high as we projected. this morning will be the highest of all of them and that will be four inches higher. >> and we've seen it minor in the street. >> minor flooding today. the office of emergency management did good calculations. this way we didn't
7:44 am
thinking it was going to flood much worse. the fire department has been out there 24 hours a day for the last three days and the police department and electical department has been doing a great job. >> we do know there were two deaths from snow shoveling, hospitalization from car wrecks, falling off ladders and snow blower account--accidents. we spoke to our spca about our furry friends to practice pet safety. >> the wind is out there. you are going to have hypothermia and you need to make sure you wash the pads to get the salt off of them after a walk. make sure they are bundled up just like you are. do not leave the pet outside. >> now that the sun is up the skies are clear. time to carefully shovel. have fun in the sun and we are keeping our eye on this next high tide.
7:45 am

please be careful when you do that dana. jennifer talking about accidents affiliated with this so make sure you are smart as you head out. in fact let's go over reminders right now. when you are doing the car make sure you clear out the tailpipe and you've got to by law clear off the vehicle top. it's safety first and if that stuff flys off behind you it can cause an accident. check and clear the wheel wells because that can fall off in transit and it's better for the car if that's out thereof and clear around hydrants if there's one in your front yard. guilty. and dryer vents make sure they are cleared. i like this shot. you can see the sun there blitzenning off the snow and as they are trying to navigate in and out of the city it's very slippery. watch out right there where you are going to see the issues. so as the cars are filling in make sure you are ready and watching your step.

come up nearly as high as it did during the day and this morning it's even lower than that during the high tide we are experiencing right now. so discussions with the mayors down there they told us this was a typical nor easter from the perspective of flooding and that we only had to shelter about 113 people statewide. and so i think we've come out pretty well. the worst of it is the stuff you are showing right now which was yesterday morning but it got better as the day went on and it's better this morning and we don't expect any ramifications after this morning of any flooding anywhere in the state. >> that's certainly good to hear governor. let me ask you what is the latest in terms of nj transit you can tell us. >> bus service and light rail service should be up on sunday schedule by noon today. and we should have full rail service some time this afternoon. and the full rail should be ready to go. it will be ready to go for the commute tomorrow morning. >> i think that's the biggest

also for those without power what can they expect? >> fortunately for us we only had about 100,000 customers who lost power at all yesterday. we are now down to 22,000 customers without power and 18,000 of them were in atlantic and cape may county. what they can expect is 90% of those folks will be restored by the end of the day today. in atlantic and cape may counties. for the 4,000 who were out power in central new jersey their power should be restored by this afternoon. and so quite frankly i thought the utilities did a great job yesterday. they were restoring power in the midst effect the storm and did a great job at it and fortunately we have had the weather today no additions at all and interestingly in the northern part of the state that experienced close to 30-inches of snow and only about 200 power outages the entire day. >> governor chris christie new jersey thank you so much for
