where we are on juniper valley road is okay and quite passable. but it is the side streets here. the mayor tweeted out yesterday that he hears residents who are concerned about their streets. they actually moved a lot of snow equipment into queens to make sure that they can get these streets passable and hopefully they do make some more progress later today. for now live in middle village, queens. >> thank you. new jersey communities in mourning today one day after a mother and her 1-year-old child died of carbon monoxide poisoning while sitting inside their car. neighbors placed flowers next to the car outside the home where police say the mother and her two children were sitting and waiting inside as other family members dug them out of the snow. a 4-year-old child survived and is at the hospital. one neighbor rushed in to help. >> tried to help the kids. she tried -- gave cpr to the little girl. till the paramedics came. they tried to help them, but

cleared out as you begin to dig out the car if you're going to be warming up the car to get it going. 19 right here for anthony. 19 farther to the north. 12. not as much snow here. 12 for charlie and and yeah, not as much snow. the real bulls eye was the city and just to the west. so much of long island dealing with snowfall totals in excess of two feet. we have icy spots early. sunny skies and milder on tuesday. with tuesday we'll see more clouds take over. and that chance of rain. numbers right now. teens. these are area temperature readings. these are not windchills. 10 in summit. 18 in al pine. 30 in the city. one of the warmer spots. nine, that's an air temperature reading for toms river.

4:18 am
so you have to be mindful of that. the big view for you, it's nice and quiet. there's a weak system that's going to come into milder air. that's going to result in a passing shower possible on your tuesday, late. high pressure is in control today. it's mainly rain. could be a few flurries mixing in if there's enough leftover cold air. problem is going to be any kind of moisture on top of snow pack. it will be messy. it will tap down the piles somewhat. in poor drainage areas, which they are abundant, you'll see problems with big ponding and that will freeze over tonight because the bottom line here, if you look at the bottom line, every night we're at or below freezing. it's really bad tonight into tomorrow. tuesday into wednesday. it's better wednesday into thursday. but you have to be mindful of the night. there's a lot of dynamics. the next real weather feature will be the shower chance tuesday into the first part your wednesday.
