>> the rain we're experiencing right now could only get worse throughout the day. we're timing out the storm now. >> good afternoon. a challenging afternoon, absolutely. right now some fog is impacting visibility and we're seeing more heavy rain as promised, some heavy rain through parts of sussex county, through passaic, more that's filling in for suffolk county as well, expand the view to give you a sense of the scope of this storm. the redbox immediately grabs your attention, yet another tornado watch affiliated with this storm, and blizzard conditions from the motor city all the way down into now clearing st. louis. in the cold sector they're dealing with devastating wind and snow. our risk will be enhanced with this wind advisory, could see 50-mile an hour wind gusts. this kicks in at 6 p.m. through 4 a.m. tomorrow morning and the severe storm prediction center has also put more of our area in

isolated severe thunderstorm. that would speak to the potential 60-mile an hour winds and again you're still looking at an additional 2 inches of rain. so we could see some lingering flooding issues tomorrow morning. going to be a busy afternoon. we'll talk about that and cooler weather to wrap up the week, right now right back to mary. the storm is it already affecting air travel in new york and new jersey, a live look at newark liberty airport where arrival delays are up to an hour and a half. departures are delayed by up to 2 1/2 hours. kennedy and laguardia are experiencing similar delays. what was she thinking? a brooklyn mother is now facing charges after her 2-year-old daughter died in a house fire. investigators say the child may have been left alone. we have more live on this tragedy at noon. >> reporter: firefighters did not know that little kalenah was stuck inside of that home. no one was there to tell them. police say her mother left her

party. charged with endangering the welfare of a child and reckless endangerment, leila aquino was head out of the 84th precinct in handcuffs refusing to answer questions. >> she looked like a happy mother. >> reporter: neighbors shocked and saddened in the aftermath of this fatal fire as the memorial grows for 2-year-old kalenah muldrow. happy birthday to you >> reporter: this is video of the toddler celebrating her 2nd birthday. the cheerful girl was found by firefighters alone under a bed in her burnt out home at 755 monroe street tuesday morning. >> that's a sign of being scared right there. you were found underneath your bed didn't know what was going on. i can imagine the first thing she was looking for was her mother when she woke up like where's my mom? >> reporter: firefighters thought they had saved everyone in the multi-family house from

hours later when kalenah's mother leila aquino came to the scene and alerted the fdny. >> we didn't know there was nip to look for at the time. then when she showed up, they went back inside and searched further. >> reporter: now aquino is in handcuffs facing charges as neighbors are left asking why. >> i love my children. you can't just leave them like that. >> reporter: the 20-year-old mother is expected to be arraigned today. that night of partying leaves police custody. >> thank you. developing right now the case of kennedy cousin michael skakel is back in a connecticut court this hour. state prosecutors are asking the state supreme court to reinstate skakel's 2002 conviction in the murder of greenwich teenager martha moxley four decades ago. skakel was preed in 2013 after

he was granted a new trial. the court found the request defense could have ordered his brother could have been responsible for the crime. a ruling is not expected today. a suspect is in custody for a subway vanning in brooklyn. a man was stab -- stabbing in brag lynn. a man was stabbed in the neck after 11:00 last night. the suspect was taken into custody at myrtle avenue station in bed-stuy. the victim walked to the hospital and is listed in stable condition. investigators are asking the public to help catch a suspect behind a string of queens robberies. police say the man in in surveillance video has been broken into five apartments in regal park since december. in each case the suspect used the fire escape to enter the apartment stealing cash, jewelry and electronics. campaign 2016, trompes a roll after his nevada win -- donald trump is on a roll after his nevada win adding to his victories in new hampshire and south carolina. >> we love nevada! we love nevada! thank you.

vulnerable trees. corm it will get busier this afternoon and tonight. some keen observations -- remember it will get busier today and tonight. some keen observations, concerns about coastal flooding? yeah because you've got a full moon and south wind. so watch that afternoon and evening high tide cycle. this is interesting from steve, 41, and he's got fog, yes, and then he's got horizontal rain. that should obliterate the fog, but it doesn't. it impacts visibility, so visibility is suffering. also sherry north and west is talking about still some issues with ice and i appreciate this from elaine, this is what we're learned about in poor drainage areas. you're going to see major puddles. be careful as you're driving through because hydroplaning, it doesn't matter whatever kind of traction system you have, hydroplaning can talk major problems.

cities, 41 degrees, wind east 10 to 17 miles an hour, we'll see the wind shift, more of a screaming wind from the south, babylon 48, jersey shore as well. hanging onto the 30s north and west. these numbers compared to yesterday, almost 10 degrees warmer, but now the wind. the wind is starting to shift and intensify 25-mile an hour gusts in the last half hour. ultimately 53. this is academic in the sense that this will likely be an own reading. we could see -- be an afternoon reading. we could see even warmer temperatures tonight as the wind is still howling. sunset is 5:41. heavier rain now bisecting suffolk county through the twin forks. parts of rocklin and westchester, so hard for west chester to deal with that rain and we'll add another inch to that. now heavier rain through parts of brooklyn and staten island as well. it's a big storm. there's a lot of available energy.

there will be breaks at times, but you've got to watch out because the big puddles and poor drainage areas will stick around. so let's set our clocks and dive into the future. between now and 3:00 and 4:00 isolated pockets of heavy rain, can't rule out a thunderstorm, really a better bet for that tonight. look at this line. if this holds together, you get this individual cells that can drop a lot of rain in a short period. that's why we're concerned about some localized flooding and then you get a sense of this thing clearing out by thursday. now usually there's a leftover wrap around shower. so i don't think thursday is totally dry, but yeah, it's going to get cold again, may even see a flake as we wrap this thing up, the wind change thursday. thursday, it's funny. you look at the seven-day. it says 54, man, that's great, but that's early in the morning. it turns cooler and friday not even out of the 30s and with the breeze feeling cooler than that. saturday and sunday a real nice
