the union proposal would cost $183 million. do you know how much this will cost? >> i do and i'm not telling you because the unions, because the unions and i have made an agreement that the financial specifics of this deal will not be put out by the government until they've had at&t an opportunity to present -- had an opportunity to present it to the member s. it was a long task and it is done. >> the governor was critical of the $183 million estimate cost of the original proposal so we can probably guess it was less than that. >> this will give workers and commuters a measure of certainly and stability. we're talking about a contract that goes back, all the way back to 2011 and now goes through . >> fares are safe, he says through june of next year, riders are happy the trains will keep rolling. >> no more strike? >> no.

presidential nominee donald trump at the university of illinois of chicago was postponed at 6:30 p.m. after thousands were already in place but before the candidate was actually on the stage. >> we thought trump was coming out and they cancelled it saying it is not safe. police ejected several anti-trump protesters insid pavilion. tempers flared outside. in a telephone interview with cnn, trump explained his decision postpone. >> i'm not a person who wants to see violence. i'm not a person who wants to see people hurt and that is why i put out the statement before and i said go home in peace. >> we were confident we were providing you the proper amount of security to get into the event and to be able to leave the event. >> trump responded to criticism at previous rallies there were scuffles and bloodshed. protesters are the violent ones.

an elderly bronx man with his own cane. investigators say around 11:00 p.m. an elderly bronx man with his own cane. investigators say around 11:00 p.m. wednesday, the man pushed the 77-year-old into his park chester apartment as he was opening the door. police say he then grabbed the victim's cane and hit him over the head several times. they say he took off $1,100. the victim was treated for head injuries at jacobi medical center. >> the search continues this morning for the man who slashed a no one was brooklyn. she had to get 13 stitches to repair the wound across her throat. this surveillance video shows a man who attacked her on beverly road thursday morning around 10:00. she came up behind her without warning, slashing her and ran off. apopko says not being aware of her surroundings nearly cost her her life. >> don't stay on the cell phone when you're walking. that is what i was doing. >> you were on your cell phone. >> i was looking at text messages. >> the subject left behind a knife and american flag bandana. parents in jersey city are camping out for a chance to get their children into a popular preschool. >> some have waited days in advance. magdelina joins us live. >> everyone is starting to wake up and pack up. these parents, some of them have been here since 7:00 a.m. on thursday. their dedication is unmatched. the stakes here for them, very high. there are only 82 spots at the concordia learning center pre-k three program. that is why these parents are out here waiting. this program really, really highly regarded within the community and it is free so it is an opportunity for these parents to send their kids to a great school without breaking the bank. now, as for these parents, there are only 82 spots, again, more

yesterday 20 degrees above the norm. today will be 10 degrees above normal. the above normal stretch continues for quite some time. a little bit of a dip on monday, but anyway, we'll talk about this because this might make you a little sad. we have to spring ahead tonight. we have to lose one hour of sleep. today, sunrise was at 6:12. just four minutes ago. tomorrow it is at 7:10 as we lose that hour. as we look at the vortex, satellite and radar picture, a few thin clouds but bigger picture reveals there are more on the way and moisture as well. it is an area of low pressure well to our west bringing in not just gulf moisture but a little bit of instability from the northwest as well. late tomorrow, a chance for showers but monday, really looking like the soggiest day. wet weather lingers into tuesday as well. hour by hour, here we go with your forecast. increasing clouds for today. partly sunny by late afternoon, then overnight tonight, looking pretty good. you know, more clouds to the south.

police have one person in custody. a terrifying accident on the grand central parkway after a tire flew off one car and slammed into another. two people were hurt. one criti. >>reporter: this is the wheel, rim, tire and all, that flew off of an suv on the grand central parkway in queens. that wheel went airborne, bounced over the central median and smashed into the windshield of another suv travelling in the opposite direction. you can see the windshield smashed and a huge hole in the roof. >> it is very scary. i wouldn't know what to do. >> drivers at the nearby service area on the grand central were stunned by what happened. >> that is insane. that is the worst thing i've seen in my life. it is crazy. >> this happened after two friday afternoon. why the tire came off is not known. a 63-year-old male passengerer in the damaged suv was hit in

the 62-year-old driver has an injured shoulder but is expected to be okay. his critically injured passenger was rushed here to north shore university hospital for treatment. the accident backed up traffic for several hours creating a ripple effect on other roads frustrating the drivers during the already busy friday afternoon rush. >> horrible. i went from one traffic jam to the other. from the bqe to the l.i.e. to the grand central. it is just, every place an i went. >> many thought if the timing was different it could have been them that was hit. cbs 2 news. a long island man accused of stealing money from a group of girl scouts appeared in court. michael aveli is facing charges after police tracked him down. the 34-year-old stole the cash box with $100 inside from girl scouts selling cookies.

tried to stop them. >> he chased the subject, he grabbed him, and that tussle, the box fell to the ground and times. >> the relative was not seriously injured. all of the girl scouts were just fine. a plane made an emergency landing on a long island beach. the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after taking off from republic airplane yesterday. minutes later, he set the plane down in the sand at sunken meadow state park. no one was hurt. new york city's first lady mccray announced a new program for care for new yorkers. 14 locations have been selected to expand services. the first lady said the new program will reduce random street violence and make the city safer. >> if we can prevent mental illness from spiralling into more serious mental illness, it is going to have a huge affect on public safety.

the first person in line was actually a paid professional line sitter. that is how extreme these parents are going here. they say the worst itself was thursday into friday when the rain started to fall. some of them ducking into cars to stay dry. others staying bundled up. parents tell me this is a tradition for jersey city parents who have tod. >> i have a son there now and i loved it. we're going to bring our daughter in. i'm sitting next to people who have kids that have gone and more kids that they're going to do this. >> some people would think this is strange. >> this is strange, but it all depends on other schools you're getting. if you compare this. this is nothing. if your kid gets a good education for one. >>reporter: enrollment for the concordia pre-k three program only in person, only first come, first serve.
