with a look at the forecast. >> a beautiful morning. starting off in the 40s. upper 40s for many. and low 50s. such a difference from yesterday. in fact, for many of us, the temperature starting off -- let's take a look. see if you are one of the lucky ones this morning. thirty-two right now. fifty-three in the city. thirty-seven and started. forty-eight in greenwich village. clouds overhead. that will be the trend today. they will gradually get more thick as the day progresses. and there is a slight chance of showers this afternoon. especially south and east of the city. tomorrow, anticipating rain and wind and cold air. today, not a lot of that. it is 37 at noon.

missing after the 84-foot vessel pulling a crane crashed into a construction barge under the tappan zee bridge saturday morning. >> 62-year-old paul amon of bayville, new jersey died in the accident. but was found shortly after the crash. cbs2 spoke to his daughter. >> he loves going sailing and fishing and everything to do with the water. he loved his job. when it was time to go to work, he enjoyed it. >> the 21 crewmembers on the barge were able to brace themselves and were not injured. >> the u.s. coast guard and diving specialists fighting condition saturday night -- and had to suspend efforts to crewmembers as choppy 40 degrees waters made it in the search. quickly. so when someone goes into the water, the water wants to drag

>> this is the second deadly accident with a construction barge under the tappan zee bridge. in july of 2013, a boat operator who later confessed to drinking crashed into a dimly lit barge killing a bride to the and her fianci's best man. that crash lead to more safety improvements and better lighting in the area. the latest accident here raising questions. >> was there enough lighting? how familiar were they with this part of the hudson river? >> there is no word on when from the water. that could aid in the investigation. >> thank you. a missing connecticut boy has been found safe in queens after police say he was taken from his home triggering an amber alert. investigators say 43-year-old rodolfo revello abducted his 7- year-old son yesterday morning from his estranged wife's home police say rodolfo revello

before fleeing with the child. she is expected to be okay. police are still searching for the father. and the beating death of a bouncer in queens. two people have been arrested and charged with manslaughter. this happened early yesterday morning inside johnny's restaurant and bar. police say 43-year-old elsworth reid was trying to break up a fight when he was knocked down and attacked by a large group of people. his wife wants all of the attackers brought to justice. >> he was beaten to death. a trampled him. that is what friends told me. they said, they stomped on him. >> elsworth reid was pronounced dead at jamaica hospital. campaign 2016. officers used pepper spray twice on protesters outside of a donald trump rally in kansas city, missouri last night.

a pretty shot out there on this sunday morning. washington bridge. 53 degrees. vanessa murdock will tell us what is in store for the second half of the weekend. new information on the german wing copilot that crash a plane into the french alps. investigators say a doctor returned -- referred him to a psychiatric clinic just two weeks before the crash. 150 people were killed in last year's crash. investigators say the pilot had been treated for depression and called dozens of doctors before the crash. the accident investigation

rules requiring doctors to warn authorities won a pilot's mental health is a threat to the public. a dog competition and the iditarod -- state troopers say a 26-year-old woman -- man admitted to being drunk when he crashed his snowmobile into people competing in the sled dog race yesterday. at least three dogs were injured as well. the man is being held on numerous charges. at least four people are dead after historic rainfall and devastating flooding in the southeast. and more rain in store today. thousands of homes across six states are underwater. some areas received more than 2 feet of rain. several people have ignored evacuation warnings. including a family in tennessee and/or five dogs. louisiana's governor declared a state of emergency as police urge people in flood palm -- prone areas to evacuate.

we could have a few showers later this afternoon. that is south and west. overnight, it better bet for rain. overnight, a certainty. a very soggy start to your work week. in addition, temperatures will only be in the 40s. the wind will be picking up. i really think it will be a raw day. temperature trend looks like this. friday, 68 degrees. pushing 80. yesterday, 59 and lovely. today, 61 is the high. tomorrow, 48. but the 48 degrees high looks to happen early in the day. then temperatures will actually fall throughout the afternoon. so when it is really raining and windy, he will likely be into the low and mid-40s out there. tuesday night, rebounding with a nice day. as far as when spring begins, we have seven days to go. next sunday, we will say hello to spring. and slightly cooler temperatures.

satellite and radar picture, there are clouds out there already. they will get more thick throughout the day. more sunshine this afternoon. with showers to follow late this afternoon and this evening. here is the main event. monday into tuesday. this area of low pressure to the west is pumping and a lot of moisture from the gulf of mexico. this is the system that has been causing a lot of problems for our neighbors in the deep south. the flooding images that we just saw prior to this. for us, we do not anticipate that. we could have localized flooding tomorrow. not widespread flooding. here is what it looks like hour by hour. today, thick clouds. late afternoon and evening, we see the potential for showers. overnight, showers are possible. some problems spots likely for the morning commute. but not for everybody. as we get into the afternoon, watch what happens. rain pushing in. this would -- could possibly

investigation. and the hunt continues this morning for this suv scene in surveillance video from greenwich village. police say the driver was involved in a hit and run on march 1 that left a 40-year-old man injured. the man said he was struck by the suv. investigators say the suv has new york plates which include the letters gsp. a chain reaction crash sends a woman tumbling 30 feet off of the whitestone expressway in queens. police say victoria garrett fell off the overpass yesterday morning as trying -- as the she was trying to help a friend who was allegedly driving drunk. police say the friend samantha maloney called victoria garrett after she hit a concrete barrier. victoria garrett was standing on the side of the highway when sources say an off-duty nypd lieutenant hit a car. victoria garrett was thrown over the barrier. an off-duty emt stopped to help

>> victoria garrett remains in the hospital in critical condition. her friend was charged with dui. sources tell us the lieutenant test. family and friends gathered to say goodbye to one of two new jersey teenagers killed after getting hit by a car in north -- city. a funeral was held for 17-year- old noel herrera. he and his best friend brian rodriguez died on march 6 after a car jumped a curb and ran them over. another teenager walking with them was also seriously hurt. the driver has been charged with two counts of first-degree aggravated manslaughter. new information on the dangerous levels of lead found at 30 public schools in newark. new evidence suggests officials new about the potential lead in water nearly two years ago. >> and memo from the district

all schools brian and flesh each water fountain for two minutes daily before school opens. the same steps apply for cafeteria faucets -- prior to food prep usage. and principles were instructed to tell students and staff to run fountains for at least 30 seconds before drinking the water. annual water contamination tests said newark's public schools were conducted between december and february. on wednesday, the district turned off water at 30 schools after results revealed unsafe lead levels. them. >> i send my son to school everyday to be safe. this is his safe haven. and let is in his water. >> lead in tricking water should not exceed 15 parts per billion. at one high school, a sample has 558. another elementary school, 194. and another elementary school
