unless you like the snow. >> unless you like the snow, then you're sad about this forecast, and i apologize for that. let's take you live outside. your saturday is going to be quite nice on the cooler side, right now, we are just about 45 minutes away from sunset, mostly clear skies, 37 degrees north, northeast wind at 6 miles per hour. your headlines for today, below normal temperatures, it's been quite some time since i feel like we've really talked about below normal. this month has been about 9 degrees above average so below normal temperatures and that's critical so get snow. we need the cold air in place so yes, we do expect to see some snow tomorrow but those totals have been knocked way down. the storm is trending east and that's why the totals will be less. here we see the vortex satellite and radar picture beautiful out there right now, a little chilly as we make our way through the day we'll see increasing clouds.
6:17 am
clouds in the system to the north then this is the storm that will bring us that better bet for some snow. here is the deal. the least likely scenario is this. track number one brings us closer to land that center of low pressure that means heavier snow and gusty winds however the more likely track which looks to be happening is one that goes more off the coast which means lower totals and it will be dryer inland and those winds will be less significant. and this is looking look what's going to happen. here we show you the forecast models hour by hour, i want to say this is one of the few models that shows snow at all falling tomorrow. so again, the trend is for the storm to track east and for us not to get too much. 9 a.m. this morning looking beautiful out there, but those clouds do quickly thicken 7:30 this evening wet weather to the south of the city. it has trouble making its way towards it.
6:18 am
very well be dry as we get into the afternoon the moisture lifts to the north. afternoon and evening that's when we'll see a little bit of snow and make its way east off the east end of long island and really be a much bigger impact for our neighbors to the northeast for massachusetts, especially cape cod. these are the totals we anticipate at home, these may be a little bit generous, a trace to 2 inches for all of us the east end of long island still looks to be where with esee the highest totals 2 to 4 inches there. is it quite possible that most of us will just see this? yes. however, it is also possible if it moves a little closer to us we'll et up to that 2 inches mark. increasing clouds 46 degrees that chance of a little bit of wet weather to the south then over night mostly cloudy a few flakes to the south and 32 tomorrow we are looking at we think a little bit of snow as i mentioned of course 39 degrees
6:19 am
side winds will be out of the northeast at 10 to 20 gusts could be 30, 35 miles per hour the winds, though, will be stronger on the east end of long island. as we look at your extended forecast anything that falls will melt very quickly for monday it is 47 degrees, tuesday, 50 and mostly sunny wednesday 62, 65 rather on thursday and so big time warm up after what looks like it is going to be a little bit of snow and it should definitely be over by the monday morning commute but on the east end of long island, of course, there could be a few issues. thank you. someone walked into ripley's believe it or not and took an autographed baseball and bat by joe demagio and replaced it with fakes, folks we spoke with were outraged. we started to live
