shot a man in the leg who they say was carrying a suspicious package at a brussels tram stop. >> for more we go to the newsroom. maggie. >> reporter: good morning. officials are still looking for two people who are on the run. they were last seen with the suicide bombers in the airport and the metro and the streets of brussels are filled with police. raids are being carried out in neighborhoods in belgium since the suicide bombings killed over 30 people tuesday. the police presence is unnerving to some residents. >> i feel kind of nervous actually because all the police force and military being on the streets is not that reassuring. >> reporter: half a dozen arrests have been made around brussels including this one. on friday a man carrying a suspicious package was arrested at a train station. >> they told him to stop and he tried to do something, boom,

be back to normal are plagued by what happened and the concern for the potential of another attack. brussels airport will not resume flights through this tuesday. >> thank you. the death toll from a suicide bombing at a crowded soccer stadium in iraq has climbed. new video shows the terrifying moment that bomb went off. investigators say a man wearing a suicide belt walked into the stadium yesterday south of baghdad and blew himself up. at least 41 were killed and another 105 spectators hurt. isis claimed responsibility and said it was targeting shiite militia men. firefighters battled a raging fire in hamilton heights over night. flames broke out just after midnight at a bidding on 151st street and broadway. two firefighters and two people were hurt including one man who was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.

between the 6th floor and the roof and it is now under control. there is no word how it started. upper westside residents on edge after another slashing in the city. a 19 year old man says he was approached by four men and attacked. it happened just after midnight at the pedestrian plaza on 96 96th street and broadway. he is being treated for cuts to his head, hands, and back. he is expected to be okay. freak accident on a new jersey highway left a teen boy seriously hurt. >> reporter: the large gash in the seat of the sedan only begins to tell the harrowing story of patel and his son's frightening brush with death. >> worse case scenario, he could have died. >> reporter: while driving on route 1 in north brunswick he noticed a large piece of metal the road.

miles per hour. miles per hour. >> all of a sudden i heard this loud sound. i thought my tire went flat. within a split second i heard my son scream. >> reporter: the metal object pierced through the under carriage of his car and ripped through the passenger seat where his 15 year old son dylann was sitting and into his leg. >> it pierced his left thigh, his skin. it literally has an eight centimeter gash. >> reporter: the metal appears to be steel welded in an x shape three feet by three feet. patel says he has no idea where it came from but he will never forget his son's pain and anguish. >> it was a horrific scream. you don't want to hear any children scream, especially your own. >> reporter: he tells me his son will be okay and he is thankful. >> i am blessed that everything is fine and we will go home. >> reporter: thankful that it wasn't any worse. >> authorities say the metal object might have been a support beam for a truck's spare tire. a teenager shot in the head at east harlem is clinging to life. family identified the victim as 16 year old chico tevarez. a relative who didn't want to be identified said tevarez is a good kid. >> he goes to school in harlem. he was taking up art and music and things like that. he liked to dance and, you know, he was into theater. just stop the violence and sense less deaths. when you grow up, you realize all this is nothing and you are not letting yourself grow up. >> the teen underwent surgery. it is not known if he was the intended target. nypd is reviewing an incident between police and a

cell phone video captured the confrontation between 27 year old grays and four plain clothes officers and a lieutenant. grays claims he was making deliveries when an unmarked police car nearly ran him over in crown heights. he then shouted at the officers who stopped and demanded identification. grays ended up handcuffed and placed in the back of an unmarked police car. easter sunday is one day away. christians around the world observed good friday yesterday. pope francis led the faithful in the way of the cross procession in rome. that solemn ceremony represents the path jesus took as he carried a cross to his crucifixion and death. there was a good friday procession, walking more than a mile carrying crosses and

to campaign 2016, the battle for republican presidential nomination is growing bitter and personal. a tabloid reported ted cruz cheated on his wife with multiple women. >> the texas senator claims rival donald trump planted the story to try and bring him down.

in a political campaign cruz verses trump is getting personal. >> when he is scared and losing his first and natural resort is to go tousles and slime. >> reporter: texas senator accuses the new york mogul of planting a story in national enquirer which published shocking claims cruz cheated with five different women. >> it is complete and utter lies. it is a tabloid smear. and it is a smear that has come from donald trump. >> reporter: trump released a statement. "i had absolutely nothing to do with the story. while the magazine was right about o.j. simpson, john edwards, and many others, i certainly hope they are not right about lying ted cruz ." one of the alleged cruz pair mores is katrina pierson, a paid spokesperson for the trump campaign. she responded calling the claim false and stupidity.

transit commuters. it can also increase the value of homes in the area. for thousands of new jersey transit commuters a one seat ride into manhattan has been nothing but a distant dream. with the port authority voting to move forward on the much talked about gateway project it may become a reality in places like ridgewood. >> it's a great thing and it is long over due. >> reporter: the estimated $20 billion project includes a new connection at penn station. because commuters would no longer have to change trains and transfer, some experts believe that homeowners along the lines could be in for a bonus because of the project. >> real estate prices will rise.

the school said it was a mistake. >> evidently we had a bus driver who is responsible for securing students in their wheelchairs and just did not appropriately secure the student. >> unlike my son who can walk and talk, charlotte is 100% vulnerable. it is like i am handing them an infant. >> charlotte's mom says the district repeatedly failed to protect her daughter and provide her with a proper education. alert for pet owners in hicks ville after animal control officers captured a rabid raccoon. this is the first reported case of rabies in nassau county in nine years. people are making sure their dogs, cats, even ferrets have up to date rabies booster shot. the health department is asking everyone to be vigilant of animals acting strangely. >> walking around in circles,
