there. let's take a look. temperatures, not record- setting this morning. thirty-two in the city right now. thirty in the hamptons. twentys and 30s. it feels more like teens and 20s with the wind chill. white plains, waking up to a windchill of 21. in delmar, it feels like 20. as we go through the morning hours, we're under the freeze warning until 10:00 a.m. temperatures will be above the freezing mark. shining brightly. 3:00 this afternoon, 47 is the high. we will see more clouds throughout the day. ultimately, it is a pleasant end to the weekend. just about 10 degrees below seasonable. now to campaign 2016. the new york state primary is just over one week away. this is bernie sanders and ted cruz picking up wins in the west. >> before the delegates have decided, two other states weighed in.

clinton and the wyoming caucus taking 56% of the vote. and ted cruz slept donald trump and ted kasich by picking up all 34 delegates. we have the latest in the studio. >> this week, new york has been getting a lot of attention from presidential hopefuls on both the democratic and republican side. the primary here -- just over a week away. >> in the race for the democratic nomination, it is a battle for home turf between bernie sanders and hillary clinton. at a rally in queens, sanders broke in with big news for his campaign. >> we just won wyoming [ cheering ] >> he stopped by the famed apollo theater. the sanders campaign has won eight of the last nine for the delegates. >> gaining momentum on hillary clinton.

campaigning upstate in rochester. john fan -- john kasich and bernie sanders will be on face the nation right here on cbs. >> inching closer to the new york primary. april 19. an investigation underway in the bronx after a man was fatally stabbed at a party. this happened around midnight on westchester avenue. the 30-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital where he died. no arrests have been made. new video this morning of a temple tragedy in india. more than 70 people killed in a massive fire that sparked one fireworks exploded. it happened in one of the southern states. another 200 people were injured. the fire started when a spark during the fireworks display ignited a separate batch of fireworks. they had been stored for the hindu new festival thursday. prosecutors and belgians a the terror group that struck

planned to launch a second attack on france. but under the pressure of investigation, they decided to rush attacks on brussels instead. one of those involved in the bombings in brussels is finally in custody. >> belgian prosecutors finally have the man in the hat. they say he is mohamed abrini, one of the terror suspects. during interrogation, authorities say mohamed abrini admitted that he is the person in surveillance video seen next to the suicide bombers in the brussels airport. mohamed abrini is also linked to the paris attacks last november. he was caught on a gas station security camera with terror suspect salah abdeslam two days before the coordinated massacre in the french capital. >> mohamed abrini is one of four men charged in belgium at participating in terrorist acts. thirty-two people died last month at the airport and at a brussels subway station. >> authorities say one of the

attack. attack. belgian police carried out more raids saturday as they look for additional accomplishes and belgian police carried out more raids saturday as they look for additional accomplishes and worked to counter fears criticism. they have not done enough to battle terrorism. cbs news, london. >> the u.s. air force u.s. air force says it deployed b-52 bombers to the mideast. it is the first time the heavy bombers will be based in the region since the 1991 gulf war when they operated from saudi arabia. this time they believe based in qatar -- they will join a multinational coalition carrying out air strikes in -- against the islamic state targets in syria and iraq. a new jersey father fatally shot by police. friends and family want to know why. a memorial was set up for diahlo grant, the father of six. and another on the way. he was killed yesterday morning and brunswick during a shootout with two police officers from the neighboring franklin township. middlesex county prosecutors say the officers first came across diahlo grant when he was walking in franklin township. officials say the officers followed him across the town border and that is when gunfire erupted. >> we heard five gunshots. we looked outside. by that time, it was surrounded by cops. they closed off the roads. >> investigators say diahlo grant was wanted for nonpayment of child support and a probation violation on a drug charge. no word yet on what caused the shootout. and a driver that slammed his car into a man writing a scooter in queens. the car burst into flames after the accident yesterday morning in glendale. investigators say the car hit the scooter head-on after swerving onto the eastbound lanes on cooper avenue. a 21-year-old victim is hospitalized in critical condition. charges against 38-year-old roberto lovo -- include driving while repaired from alcohol. the search is on for the man who police say robbed a woman in brooklyn. police released this photo of

was getting off of a bus bus in front of brookdale hospital when a man grabbed her wallet and took off. it happened march 28. investigators say he then used her credit card to make a purchase at a nearby walgreens. >> thank you. police are investigating another slashing in the city. this one in the bronx. up next, the clues they are hoping will lead them to the slasher. he was a passenger in the backseat. it shook our family to the core. >> the law this father is hoping will crack down on distracted driving. >> and it is more than a calorie counter. why one man says the fit it -- sits bit saved his life. a lot more sunshine to end or weekend. we do have what weather to discuss in the extended forecast. details coming up.

he claims the door which left a gap of at least a foot remained closed for at least 45 minutes. police are what -- police released a surveillance video of a slashing sub -- subject. the woman was having an argument with two people. a 21-year-old woman flashed her across the face with a knife. and then an unidentified man slasher across the ne cat -- neck. three new york city firefighters are facing charges after a bar brawl near citi field. police say the three off-duty said -- off-duty police officers got into a fight at mcfadden's restaurant and saloon saloon. this happened after the mets home opener on friday. all three are charged with assault and disorderly conduct. one of them was also charged with resisting arrest. a new jersey man is healthy today apparently saved by his fitbit.

seizure -- suffered a seizure. doctors detected an irregular heartbeat. they then checked his fitbit and found a heart problem was not a chronic condition that started with a seizure. that allowed them to make the proper decisions for treatment. it is believed to be the first time a fitness tracker has been used this way. i did not know it would save your life. i do have one. >> i don't. >> it is cool -- the stuff it teaches you beyond how many steps you take. it tells you your heart rate. >> and it could potentially save your life. very nice. it is 6:13 a.m. let's go over to vanessa murdock and see what the latest is with the forecast. >> we can say goodbye to the snow. no more mentioning of snow. >> doing us a favor. it is april 10. >> taking some snow out of the forecast.

no snow in the forecast moving forward. what we do have is sunshine and rain to discuss for the start of the work week. live outside right now from high atop the empire state building, 32 degrees. mostly clear. a breezy northwest wind at 13. wind chills in the teens and 20s. another cold start to the day. not the record-breaking start going to see. that is good news. it is still very chilly. it will remain chilly today. it will be sunny. and it will be dry. what weather returns tomorrow. on a small-scale. tuesday, it is going to be especially soggy. lingering wet weather looks to be hanging around until wednesday. the temperature trend -- yesterday 43. well below the norm. some saw snow. many of us saw a rain. it was a cool and damp day. today, 47 degrees. we take up the wet weather. we bring in the sunshine.

later today as the storm system approaches. it warms us that. tomorrow, 58. tuesday, 56. this is where we should be. mid to upper 50s right now. on the vortex satellite and radar, just a few clouds overhead. generally speaking, we stay that way for much of the day. then an approaching storm system will bring more clouds as the day progresses. this is the system that impacts the forecast monday. especially tuesday. it could even linger into wednesday as well. bringing us wet weather and be soggy. hour. today, looking good. just a few thin clouds. overnight, clouds. then we see showers around. could be a little bit of a wintry mix well north of the city tomorrow morning. monday. as we make our way into tuesday, the story changes.

we're talking about a soggy stretch for much of the day tuesday. wednesday, we could still see the wet weather linger a bit. we are not looking at a completely dry wednesday. today, ballpark forecast as the mets take on the phillies, 45 degrees. a lot of sunshine. some clouds. wind out of the west. forty-seven this afternoon. on the chilly side. at least it is bright. wind out of the northwest early and becoming southwesterly at 10 up to 15 miles per hour. overnight tonight, 40 degrees. the clouds get more thick. showers north of the city. a wintry mix possible. 58 degrees by tomorrow afternoon. mostly cloudy. with the opportunity for a few showers. getting soggy to stay with a high of 56. wednesday, 55. we could have lingering wet weather early. skies will start to clear. right now thursday, friday and saturday looking pretty awesome.

>> the thought -- the family says the driver that caused a car crash initially wheel. there was a lot of phone activity. >> what angers the family is that they had to do the investigating. >> we subpoenaed the phone records through our own civil lawsuit. what we learned from that was that the police were not to blame for this. that there is no police protocol in place to investigate phones at the scene of a collision. >> they are trying to change that with evan's law. they introduced the bipartisan bill which would create a protocol for police and allow them immediate access to driver's cell phones. >> they would be able to obtain the cell phone with the new technology. >> much like a breathalyzer detects whether a driver is drunk, a so-called "textalizer" would determine if a person was on the phone at the time of a crash. >> this tech company confirms they are developing it.

her burlington county home. he started giving her cpr. after three minutes, she started breathing. the 69-year-old told police that her husband tried to kill her and he was arrested on several charges including first- degree criminal attempted homicide. >> my family is forever grateful. >> so proud to be a police officer and to work for this department. it reminded me why i wanted to do this job. >> a week later, officer brian stockbine responded to a call about another woman not breathing. he gave her cpr and she lived. on march 17, officer brian stockbine responded to a car crash and saved an unconscious man who was having a diabetic attack from inside of a smoke- filled car. he says he is no hero. >> we don't do this job to be

right now, it is looking good. >> cold today but sunny. >> bundle up at citi field. >> absolutely. right around 46 degrees at game start. now we want to turn to a story. a new jersey boy with autism says his service dog has made an incredible difference in his life. now he wants to pay it forward. but first, needs to raise $50,000. >> lucas wiener says his service dog, is the color of darth vader and his best friend. they go everywhere together. >> stores, parks, vacation. >> before the dog stood by his side, a few of those activities were possible for lucas. he lives with autism. >> lucas was not sleeping or eating. when we went out in public, he would tend to wander. we were at the airport one time and we turned around and could not find him. he was outside. it was a wake-up call. one of the reasons we got the dog.

lucas's parents describe life as fantastic. >> the stress is gone our end and his as well because he knows his friend is with him. >> the dog has been such a force of good that he wants to help another kid get a service dog. and with help from his folks, set up a gofundme page. so far he has raised nearly $6500. but it is not enough. >> it costs $50,000 to train a service dog. but for the family, it is free. >> what is that for? >> healing autism. >> if there was ever a kid that could raise $50,000, i would say lucas is the kid. so full of love. so happy. so understanding of what this dog means of him. >> he is continually asking, how much? anymore? >> lucas would see another --
