the last game of a remarkable career kobe bryant came through with a remarkable performance. bryant carried the lakers with a win over utah and saving his best game of the season for last. even bryant said he was shocked. teri okita has our report from los angeles. >> reporter: the night belonged to basketball star kobe bryant who ended one of the most successful careers in nba history. scoring a season high 60 points and a win in his final game. >> i spent 20 years here. i mean, you can't write something like this. >> reporter: black mamba, brian's nickname received kudos from famous friends. >> this has been absolutely beautiful. i can't believe it's come to an end. you guys will always be in my havert. >> reporter: the 18-time all-star turned pro at just 17, spending his entire career with the los angeles lakers. he helped his team win five titles, was named finals mvp twice, and league mvp in 2008.

sanders hopes tuesday's new york primary will help cut into clinton's lead in delegates. on the republican side, front-runner donald trump is arguing as much with party leaders as he is with his opponents. don champion is here in new york. >> reporter: good morning. hillary clinton and bernie sanders were energized by supporters at rallies last night across new york city. sanders hopes a strong debate performance tonight will help him pull off an upset on tuesday. the republicans, in the meantime, are positioning themselves even more for a fight at their convention in july. on the eve of tonight's critical new york debate, bernie sanders drew 27,000 people to manhattan's iconic washington square park, one of the largest crowds yet of his campaign. he challenged rival hillary clinton on issues like expanding social security benz.
