shirt unsheath a knife and cut the victim in the arm. the slashing continues until the attacker backs off, knife in hand. he and three other men then get into a black mercedes and sped off. police say the victim will be fined and are unclear of any motive at this point. a strike threat that would have disrupted new jersey transit appears to have been averted. the two remaining unions reached a tentative agreement. union members will vote. details of the agreement are thursday. new jersey transit is the country's third largest railroad used by more than 100,000 people every day. the coast guard makes a dramatic rescue on the high seas. a photo showing the sandy hook boat crew rescuing three people this morning. there was a disabled engine 23 miles northeast of the new jersey coast. three more people were rescued from another vessel in distress.

hurt. a developing story out of west virginia. at least 24 people dead and hundreds more are forced from their homes after devastating flash floods slammed the region. police and fire crews are going door to door looking for survivors after floods roared through greenbrier county, west virginia. water has overtaken many roads. dozens of streets are closed. the floods began thursday following heavy rain. at least 9 inches in aunt's home to pick up frightened pets. thursday night he saw some of the victims as he helped rescue relatives and their neighbors. >> there was an elderly lady in one of the houses that was holding her husband up. 118 pounds soaking wet. she was holding her husband up out of the water. he was deceased. >> do you have a carpet cleaner? >> reporter: survivors are literally beginning to pick up the pieces of their devastated
