later today in colorado. jessica? >> it only wraps up from here, janelle, thank you. along with last night's speech from hillary clinton, the democratic convention features no shortage of the harsh attacks on republican rival donald trump. earlier on thursday, trump said he has been considering striking back. >> i wanted to hit a couple of those speakers so hard i was going to hit this guy so hard that his hwo happened. they would make deals with me. would you help me with this and make this deal to solve the problem. i solved the problem and i do a great job. i was going to hit. >> trump didn't say who he was talking about specifically, but some speculated that it is former mayor michael bloomberg who called trump, "a con man." also issuing several tweets last night. in one he wrote, "no one has worse judgment than hillary clinton. corruption and devastation follow her wherever she goes."

united states. a san diego officer was shot and killed late last night and another officer wounded during a traffic stop. the city's police chief says that gang suppression officers made a stop and immediately came under gunfire. >> very shortly putting out that they were making a stop that they called for emergency cover. other officers were in the area. they arrived shortly on scene and they found both of our officers suffering from gunshot woun surviving officer faces a long recovery. police took a suspect into custody. he was found with the gunshot wound a short distance away from the crime scene. prosecutors say they will not retry the man accused of murdering chandra levy. ingmar guandique was found guilty of killing levy in 2010, but that conviction was overturned. a retrial was scheduled for october, but now prosecutors say they can no longer prove their case. levy disappeared in 2001 while
