murdock. if you looked outside, the rain has maybe started for some. >> for some, yes. it was pouring this morning. now it is beginning for others. see you said, when the next round will begin. it has already begun. it is happening now. we are starting to see more flood warnings coming into effect this morning. a lot to think about today as we make plans. because flooding is certainly a possibility for some of us. flood alerts. right now, everyone in the dark green, under fl watch until 11:00 this evening. and then you see the bright green color. that is actually a flood warning right now for the millstone river at blackwell's mills and somerset county. so a ton of rain fell in that region yesterday. nearly 6 inches. so problems will be occurring today. especially more rain heading into that direction. >> as you look at the vortex satellite and radar, you can see the trouble spots.

also ocean county getting hammered. the storms are nonmoving. that is why flooding is expected today for some of us. as far as temperatures go, we will be warming to roughly 80 degrees. it will feel like 86 with ample humidity in the atmosphere. and it will be a mainly cloudy day. the risk of showers and thunderstorms causing localized flooding. i will have the full forecast coming up. we will talk about when the unsettled stretch finally comes to a end. back to you. following a police are searching for a man who they say tried to rape a woman. >> it happened in greenwich village near nyu. >> magdalena doors joins us live with more this morning. >> reporter: police say the person they are looking for started a conversation with this young woman before grabbing her from behind and attacking her. and then running off. >> the washington square arch, the famous city landmark

the feeling of safety. >> there are always cars here. you think it is always -- bright and there are people walking around no matter what time it is. but it is terrifying. >> police say a few blocks away at 4:00 saturday morning, a 20-year-old woman was approached by a man who tried to strike up a conversation. and while walking along fifth avenue, the suspect grabbed the victim from behind s fought the attacker off and he ran away. the incident has other women looking for more protection. >> . >> if it is more visible security and the building -- something. i would prefer somebody there that could see from the outside. >> police say the victim described her attacker as a man, 5-foot, 6 inches tall with a medium build. investigators note that she could not get a clearer look at his face because he was wearing a hat. and police say the victim

at the scene. they are asking anyone with information on the attacker to please come forward. live in greenwich village, magdalena dorris, cbs2 news. new video this morning. police say it shows a man opening fire on a jeep in queens. investigators say it all started when the man in the jeep fired off a shot at a man on a bicycle. police say the -- the cyclist i or two shots back as the jeep sped away. this happened on 137th in flushing on july 12. nobody was hurt. but police in queens, the search is on for two men who police say were caught on camera stealing a woman's purse. investigators say surveillance video shows a man standing next to a woman in flushing at a cafi before grabbing the purse off the counter and taking off. police say his friend was standing nearby acting as a lookout. the woman says there was $200 in cash cash inside the purse. we're bracing for another round of storms today. in new jersey, the princeton

lot looked more like a pond yesterday. the pedestrian tunnel was also overflowing with water. so the transit used buses to shuttle passengers from one side of the station to another. ticket machines were damaged. that train service was not affected. on the road, flash flooding left some drivers stranded. in plainsboro, it was high tide and some areas. an apartment building parking lot looked more like a lake after the downpour. and water filled the streets in north brunswick as rain ran off the rooftop. affecting our area. crews had to rescue people trapped inside of their vehicles after parts of the road collapse. vanessa will be back with another check of the forecast coming up. a special ntsb investigation team is set to arrive this morning in central's where a hot air balloon carrying at least 16 people crash. >> it appeared there are no survivors, making it the worst hot air balloon disaster in u.s. history.

air balloon in a field outside of lockhart, texas, after the terrible crash that killed 16 people. the basket below the balloon caught fire and plunged to the ground, right below high- voltage power lines. >> it sounded like a gun going off. and then there was a big fireball. >> one neighbor fears the balloon somehow hit those high- voltage wires. >> i think the pop that i heard was the balloon code -- connecting with the line. >> the group was with, heart of texas, hot investigators from a national transportation safety board and the fbi rushed to the remote scene about 30 miles south of austin. >> it is much like a crime scene. you only get one chance. we want to make sure we do everything correctly. >> two years ago, three people died when another hot air balloon hit power lines in virginia. about the same time, safety investigators recommended the faa conduct more oversight of balloon operators due to concerns over high fatality

the billionaire said he got a letter from the nfl complaining that the debate dates are ridiculous. but the nfl denies sending the republican nominee any letter. the dates were selected last september by the nonpartisan commission on presidential debates. later this morning on face the nation, john dickerson will be talking with bernie sanders. we will get a preview from him coming up at 8:00. last week, we introduced you to a new jersey woman who was rescued by four national guardsmen after making a w the woods. >> now we're hearing from those soldiers that saved her life. >> she told us that she thought she was going to die. she was preparing herself to die while she was laying in the backseat. because she was yelling and nobody was coming. so she gave out. >> members of the massachusetts army national guard on a training mission in new jersey came face-to-face with a real-life rescue mission. they found 87-year-old jeanette haskins slumped over in the backseat of her car

last saturday while heading to baltimore with her cat. >> the car was stuck in the deep sand. >> she ended up on a remote trail in the middle of the woods. her cell phone was dead and she was forced to drink rainwater from thunderstorms to survive. >> i have resolved that i was going to die. >> she says she then blacked out. that is when the soldiers from the 186th support brigade found her car. >> we were yelling and she was not responding. >> they rushed ba training area and brought back two medics who put her on oxygen. >> i came to. there were these men's faces. it was just the best thing that ever happened. >> all four of these national guardsmen know it is not every day they get to save a person's life, much less a stranded elderly woman. they say it was an experience they will never forget. >> this is why i joined the guard. civilians helping civilians. it fills great to get her back to her family.

and radar. a lot of activity right now. most concerning, ocean county. a flash flood warning in effect. this storm cell hanging out over lacey. moving very sluggishly, about 4-5 miles per hour. barely moving at all. flash flood warning in effect. the extra cautious if you are out on the roadways in ocean county this morning. on the big picture, what is happening is the stationary boundary is not going anywher that will be the case again today. that was the case yesterday. with that -- with that, it creates instability in the atmosphere. we have this stationary boundary and high humidity feeling the storms. so not pleasant today. we will get more rain. some of us will be dealing with flooding. i can show you what it looks like hour by hour. a lot of -- scattered activity throughout the day. by 4:00, a bull's-eye over parts of hudson and the city.

lead to aches and pains down the road because you have been standing there waiting -- hoping the line will move for you. >> and we have some bags -- what are some tips when you are standing, waiting? >> there are three things to remember when you are carrying suitcases or anything heavy for that matter. you want to use her legs, engage your core and use good posture to protect her spine. and if you have a backpack, you don't want to just put it over one shoulder. you want to utilize bh this. >> this way, whatever weight you are carrying, will be equally distributed. >> the same thing for an over the shoulder bag. you want to make sure to write your journey, that you switch sides, switch shoulders the one side of your body is not being worked harder.

the suitcases, that is even better. >> when you get onto the plane, a very small space as we all have experienced. how does that affect our bodies? >> when we set for a long period of time, things can get tight and stagnant. one of the most areas things you have to avoid when traveling, is called deep vein thrombosis, which is a blood clot. mold the movement -- so movement is beneficial. when your stuck on the tarmac, you want to do small little exercises like ankle circles and shoulder roles. neck roles. even things like glued squeezes. or contracting your muscles. that will help with fluid movement. when it is safe and the captain says it is okay to get out of your seat, you want to get up into the aisle. you want to walk around a little bit. you might need to get an okay from the flight attendant.

you want to start with doing some central good posture. do some knee raises first. and ankle flexes. you want to add resistance. cross your legs. i love to bring bands. they can fit so easily into your carry-on luggage. you can do shoulder presses as well. >> i would be impressed if i saw someone doing that. >> 10 years ago, you would get a lot of crazy looks. now people know that health and wellness is a prty and they may ask to join in, which i have seen happen. >> lastly, a few seconds left. on long car rides as well, what are some tips people should keep in mind in the car? >> don't sit with poor posture. don't touch her legs -- don't talk to your legs under you. you will compress your leg muscles and nerves. >> and generally, is keeping her spirits up -- your

sunday, july 31. i'm andrea grymes. >> i'm cindy hsu. >> i cannot believe it is the last day of july. >> it is going too fast. >> we have the latest on the forecast. >> it is so humid out there. that is not comfortable either. we have the rain. we have the humidity. and the potential for more flash flooding today. in fact, we already have flash flood warninef that is until 11:00 a.m. this morning. a flash flood watch in effect for many of us. as we go through another day with more showers and storms. super slow movers. with that, expect torrential rain to stick around for quite some time. as a mentioned, a flash flood warning in effect for ocean county. that is because of this cell barely moving, dumping -- some reports suggesting as much as 3 inches already over central ocean county.

a hat. >> the victim refused medical attention. and police are still looking for the suspect. they are asking anyone with information to please come forward. live in greenwich village, magdalena doris, cbs2 news. >> police are searching for a man who they say tried to rape a woman inside of a church bathroom in port richmond, staten island. investigators say just after midnight last sunday, this man, identified church. they say he pushed her down while unbuckling his pants. police say she was able to get upstairs after he tried to force himself on her a second time. the new jersey turnpike is back open at this hour after a shooting forced closures overnight. state troopers and said they received a tip from rhode island authorities about an armed and dangerous driver. he was located last night at the turnpike. the police say he refused to

when officers approached the car, they said they found the driver had shot himself. he is now at the medical center with life-threatening injuries. police say a man on crutches is on a burglary spree in midtown. one of his alleged victims have come forward to share her story. police say the man burglarized three apartment buildings -- tuesday morning. investigators say he carried out computers and jewelry from the buildings. all while on crutches and wearing a medical do. her home was one of the apartments burglarized. >> we came home and the door was turned a little bit. we walked in. it looked normal. then we saw -- my boyfriend's brand-new laptop was gone. >> the building has a part- time doorman. but he was reportedly on a break at the time. to a consumer alert for long island residents. pse&g long island says it is raising electricity rates again. power companies say the average

rate increase on the cost of fuel and increased summer usage. but many in long beach have been having power problems with pse&g. some customers say they suffered through 20 blackouts lasting three up to 18 hours at a time. lockboxes filled with keys for air b&b customers have been spotted around chelsea. we have the story. >> they are meant to secure your keys. the middle of 8 avenue, your keys might not be so secure. >> this building super is not the only one who says he has seen people rummaging through these boxes for keys. pamela wolfe says she tried helping some tourists a few weeks back. it turns out, they couldn't figure out which lockbox held the keys to the apartment they were renting. >> they were looking for

regarding how keys are transferred. when asked the company about the concerns, they directed us to the website. the same website that encourages tenants to use the almighty lockbox to handoff keys. and many residents worry that these boxes could be advertising easy access to the building. >> if they know it is in there, they could easily pick the lock. >> the fences around the trees are city property. not even allowed to be here. >> those who place boxes on city property could face a fine of up to $400. but without markings, it is hard to tell who they belong to. the landlord assured me over the phone that no air b&b listings are inside. >> if i found out my tenants were doing it, they would have to get rid of that -- it is illegal.

game losing streak took on the rockies. on -- up 2-0 in the fourth. and the player just signed yesterday almost made a great catch at the wall. which was really too bad because then this happen. two batters later, off of bartolo colon. and then the mets down 3-2. five runs allowed in five innings for bartolo colon. it was all downhill from there. making matters worse. cespedes exits in the fifth with tightness in the quad. continuing to bother him. willmar florez crushes what looks like his 11th home run of the year. but the umpire called him out because of fan interference. the mets lose 7-2. and joe girardi says all that trade talks has not changed his team's approach. against the rays. go-ahead home run. yankees up over tampa bay 2-1. it did not take long for the rays to take the lead.
