>> reporter: good morning. fresh off his feud with the parents of that fallen muslim american soldier, donald trump is reopening old wounds within his own party. this time for refusing to endorse two powerful gop leaders in their re-election bids this month. the latest dust-up came after donald trump gave an interview to "the washington post," withholding endorsements for house speaker paul ryan and arizona senator john mccain, referring to speaker ryan, the republican presidential nominee strong leadership and i'm just not quite there yet. appearing on fox news, trump expressed similar reservations about senator mccain. >> and, you know, i've never been a big fan of john mccain and i just hate the way our veterans have been treated by john and other people. i hate it. >> reporter: just this week, both ryan and mccain stronel denounced str

york, thank you so much. trump is taking heat for controversial remarks he made after receiving a purple heart. the declaration bestowed on those wounded or killed in action. now, during a rally in virginia yesterday, trump said that he was handed a purple heart from a retired officer who supported him. >> i said, man! that's like -- that's like big stuff. i always wanted to get the purple heart. this was much easier. >> illinois congresswoman tammy duckworth who was awarded a purple heart after seriously injured while flying a helicopter in iraq in 2004 responded to trump and she tweeted a picture of herself as she recovered and wrote this is how one usually looks when you are awarded a purple heart. nothing easy about it. there is new fallout over donald trump's comment on women who were sexually harassed at work. trump is now saying women can take action within the company

when the baby wouldn't stop, trump addressed the mother again. >> actually, i was only kidding. you can get the baby out of here. that's all right. don't worry. i think she really believed me that i love having a baby crying while i'm speaking. >> in the end, trump allowed the baby to stay. well, the same federal judge donald trump accused of bias because of his mexican heritage blocked the release of videos of trump's testimony in a lawsuit university. trump's attorneys argued the video would be used against trump's presidential campaign. the judge agreed, but rejected a defense request to dismiss the case. we will discuss the conflict between donald trump and the republican party leaders with cbs news political director john dickerson coming up on "cbs this morning." the director of the centers for disease control says, so far, efforts to control the mosquitoes spreading the zika virus in miami have been less

infected with zika in one miami neighborhood. weijia jiang reports. >> reporter: transmission of the zika virus through mosquito bites has only occurred in florida but communities around the country are taking action. new york city is using special tablets to kill off mosquito larvae in its subway system and standing water is a prime breeding ground. >> we have dealt with enough crisis we know the best way to deal with of it. >> reporter: they are spraying neighborhood in queens and in new orleans private companies are seeing a spike in business. many nervous homeowners want to make sure their property gets treated. >> i certainly think that local backyard spraying is probably not a bad thing to do. i'm doing it. >> reporter: on wednesday, crews here in miami will begin aerial spraying of repellant in a ten square mile area, surrounding the so-called zika zone.

yelchin is suing jeep chrysler. he died after the jeep pinned him between his security fence. the suit says the gearshifter was poorly designed. >> unbelievable grief. we decide to come here prevent other families for the same tragedy. >> the cherokee model was among over 1 million vehicles recalled because its gearshifter confused drivers. he was sent a recall notice in may and another seven days after he died. north korea fired a ballistic missile that landed close to japanese territorial waters. the missile was launched off north korea's east coast and

it's 4:30, 67 degrees on this wednesday, august 3rd. a nice day on tap, lots of sun, low humidity, highs in the 80s today, good morning, i'm chris wragge. >> i'm mary calvi. welcome to cbs 2 news this morning. we'll have traffic and weather on the 2s in a moment. first, breaking news in howard beach. the body of what appears to be a 30-year-old woman has been found near a missing after going for a jog. her body was found about four hours later. cbs 2's janelle burrell joins us live from howard beach with more this morning. janelle. >>reporter: well, chris, right now detectives are here on scene trying to piece together what happened in the moments leading up to that woman's death. if you take a look behind me, you can see there is a police van in this grassy area here at 161st avenue and 78th street. that 30-year-old woman's family
