next. in times square, ali bauman, cbs2 news. our dr. max gomez says the delusions that he was experiencing are associated with more severe forms of bipolar disorder. days after the brutal murder of a jogger in cream -- queens, local leaders held a meeting to discuss the case. the meeting was held with the intention of providing comfort and answers to a deeply shaken neighborhood. last tuesday, katrina votrano had gone jogging in spring creek federal beach in howard beach and never came home, she was sexually assaulted and strangled, sense of security. >> i hope they catch the killer quick so we can get back to normal life. and not be afraid to go out at night with my husband or children. >> investigators also thanked members of the community for their cooperation in the investigation. only days later another new york city woman found murdered

aiello has more on this. >> reporter: the victim lived and worked in new york city but was found murdered 2 miles north and central massachusetts. 27 year old vanessa marcotte went out for a run and never made it home, just like katrina votrano. a connection between the cases is unlikely, but authorities will be comparing notes. >> she moved to the city for what many her age would consider a dream job, an account manager at google's and vanessa marcotte started here 20 months ago and quickly made a mark, a spokesperson saying she was a much loved member of the google theme, known for her ubiquitous smile, passion for volunteer work and love of boston sports. we are deeply shocked and saddened and our thoughts are with her family and friends. her body was found sunday evening, she was visiting family in princeton, mass. about 55 miles west of boston. her mother called police when

she was found near a rural road, there are reports of burn marks on her body, and signs of sexual assault. >> we cannot tell whether or not it was a random act at this point so we are asking the residents of princeton and surrounding areas to be vigilant. >> reporter: marcotte was killed five days after 30-year- old katrina votrano in howard beach. no arrest in that case. the two deaths making a deep impact on this new yorker. >> for me, i was going to sleep last night alone in my ame protected and say that you lived there, it's terrifying. >> reporter: at a community meeting, the nypd was asked if the debts could be connected. >> we don't believe there is a connection, we are going to continue to share notes and compare evidence as both cases progress. >> reporter: our boston statement went by the marcotte family home in central massachusetts tonight, the family declined comment and asked for privacy. we should know more about her cause of death tomorrow.
