>> pelley: the swimmers' story just didn't hold water. today, police in brazil said u.s. olympic star ryan lochte and three of his teammates made up the story about being robbed at gunpoint in rio last weekend. so what did happen? well, let's go to the video replay. here's ben tracy. >> reporter: this security camera footage shows the four american swimmers at a gas station disappearing down a hallway toward the bathroom. they get bn you can see the swimmers raising their arms and then sitting on the ground. today, rio police filled in the blanks, accusing the americans of vandalizing the bathroom, arguing with the security guard, and then leaving $50 to pay for the damage. it is a dramatically different story than the one ryan lochte told this past weekend when he said the four swimmers had been

as police. >> reporter: rio police say the security guard did point a gun at lochte, but only because he was erratic and aggressive. this afternoon, gunner bentz and jack conger arrived at a rio police station for questioning. last night, police pulled them off their u.s. flights. jimmy feigen was also expected to be questioned in rio. lochte left brazibe passport. despite very real security concerns in rio, the police feel the swimmers' made-up story gave them an unwarranted black eye. rio's chief of civil police say the u.s. swimmers owe the entire city an apology because the only thing they were honest about was that they were drunk. but mario andrada, with the rio olympic organizing committee, said no apology is needed. >> lochte is one of the best swimmers of all time. they had fun.

it's part of life. life goes on. that's cool. >> reporter: now, we've tried contacting ryan lochte and his attorney several times, and they have not responded. as for the three u.s. swimmers who are still here in rio, it is unclear when they're going to be allowed to leave brazil. and, scott, it is still possible that they could be charged with falsely reporting a crime. >> pelley: our man in rio, ben tracy, ben, thanks very much. east of los angeles, more than 1500 firefighters are facing walls of fire 80 hot, dry gusts are whipping up fire tornadoes across brush, brittle from drought. it's not known home homes in san bernardino county were torched, but more than 80,000 people have fled their neighborhoods. carter evans is there. >> reporter: the air assault on the most stubborn part of the fire is relentless. drop after drop, and the flames
