disability like he has. this is the "cbs weekend news." >> quijano: good evening, i'm elaine quijano. with the election nearly 11 weeks away, a new cbs battleground tracker poll shows hillary clinton now six points ahead of donald trump in ohio. a crucial state for his campaign. in battleground iowa, a new poll shows clinton and trump are tied. it's the only state in recent have an outright lead. for more on this we turn to our elections director anthony salvanto in washington. anthony. >> reporter: in ohio one of the keys is that clinton continues to do better with democrats than donald trump does with republicans. so he has yet to shore up his base. in the bigger picture, ohio is is indeed critical to donald trump's fortunes this year when you add it to an electoral map and look at all the states donald trump needs to win to get the presidency, right now all of

so to change states he needs to change minds am we asked people, what would donald trump have to do to make you reconsider him. one of the top answers, convince them he's ready to be commander in chief. he's had trouble on that measure. and apologize to people that he has offended which we saw him start to do this week. but for all the talk about trump, it is not all good news for hillary clinton here despite the leads. voters in ohio as elsewhere continue to feel clinton is connected to foreign donors and she continues to get low marks so elaine, even as she has raised doubts about trump for the moment, there are important measures of her own where voters say it still leaves them with questions. >> quijano: anthony sal ant-- salvanto, thank you. following his campaign shakeup last week, donald trump is trying to gain ground on hillary clinton by reaching out to minority voters. here's errol barnett. >> this pitch from donald trump to african-americans made in front of a mostly white audience was meant to boost his support.

special access. >> we have republicans in congress and right wing groups doing everything they can to try to make something out of nothing here. >> now as the race heads into the final months, campaign cash is crucial. last month clinton hauled in more than $52 million. trump about 37 million. elaine, both candidates have a busy week of fund raises and campaign events ahead. >> errol barnett in washington, thank you. >> monday is the first day of scho a zika virus. health officials are monitoring two so called zika zones. in miami beach at least five people have apparently been infected by local mosquitoes. the original zika zone is just across biscayne bay. so far at least 36 people in the area had been infected. the virus can cause severe birth defect. david begnaud has the latest. >> reporter: this afternoon the florida department of health

students from here and one other school in the new zika zone were encouraged to spray themselves before class tomorrow. >> mel knee fishman is principal of south point elementary. >> we don't want it done at the school site. there are kids that have asthma. >> reporter: the miami dade school district handed out protective clothing, long sleeves and pants for students that needed it. the proactive effort taken by the school district have impressed caroll karp w >> i commend their efforts. i think it's fantastic. it's what we should do to protect our children and our whole community. >> reporter: nearly 3300 kids will now be attending school in the 1.5 mile area where local zika transmission has been confirmed on miami beach. ashley beaueregard is six months pregnant. she cancelled her baby shower in miami beach and now worries that her home, 15 minutes north of

vulnerable area. >> yeah, i just feel like, you know, it spread from wynwood to miami beach, cases that we know of. so how many cases that we don't know of that could have, you know, spread further already. >> reporter: tomorrow morning 7600 students in miami dade county will go to school inside of a zika zone. there are now two of those zones in the county. the superintendent of schools told us he thought about relocated the students but decided against it. >> quijano: david begnaud in miami beach, florid the deep south sunday hindering the massive cleanup in louisiana. last week's historic floods killed at least 13 people. 60,000 homes were damaged. manual bojorquez is there. >> reporter: at this distribution center in baton rouge national guard troops have already handed out more than 4,000 meals and 7,000 bottles of water to flood victims. tyra pollard is one of them. >> because water is like

>> elaine, we're tracking a lot of rain across the eastern half of the country but also along the gulf coast where flash flood watches are still in effect right around san antonio. portions of texas picked up six to 11 inches of rain. and the heavy rain is also starting to move through the northeast. draught stricken areas hopefully picking up around 1 inch of rain accumulation from boston to new york and d.c. through monday afternoon. and this cold front moves off the coast here, out to sea, high pressure in control back to the west and midwest and schooler temperatures flooding into the eastern half of the country, while in the south that stationary front will still be over texas and louisiana but soon will wash out flooding threat diminishes, the pacific northwest, you have had intense heat the last several days, finally relief and cooler temps to start the week. >> quijano: pamela, thank you. >> in california, more than 10,000 firefighters spent the weekend trying to put out six large wildfires, an hour east of los angeles fire officials are
