consulate and then he's followed by a young woman. police say that they got inside just after 1:00 on monday morning. they broke into the consulate general of the republic of indonesia here on east 68th street between fifth and madison avenues, opening an unlocked door, taking their pickup, whatever was inside. in the surveillance, you can see the suspects walking through the building, and when they walked out just after 1:00 monday morning, they walked out with bottles of vodka, a a 2004 tan honda odyssey minivan. they used that as their get- away car according to police. now, one of the functions of the consulate here is to issue visas to indonesiaian citizens. no word if there was any sensitive information on that tablet that was stolen, but police say the 2004 honda odyssey van that they were traveling in an used as a get- away car has diplomatic plates.

magdalena. >>reporter: chris and mary, the indonesiaian consulate is well lit overnight and it's outfitted with security cameras, but that did not stop these two robbers from looking for a way in, and they found an easy entrance, an unlocked side door. caught on camera, police say that these two suspects, a young man and a young woman broke into the consulate generale of the republic of indonesia on east 68th street just between fifth and madison monday morning, sneaking down an alleyway and then they broke in without breaking a sweat, opening an unlocked door and taking their pick of the items inside. police say these two got away with bottles of vodka. they also got away with a computer laptop -- i'm sorry, a computer tablet,let, a suitcase full of clothing and keys to a 2004 tan honda odyssey minivan. they used that minivan as their get-away car.

getting in through an unlocked side door. but they were caught on camera. this young man leads the way inside and the young woman then follows. investigators say the suspects broke into the consulate generale republic of indonesia here on east 68th street between fifth and madison avenues monday morning just after 1:00 a.m. inside they had their take of the place. they got away with a case of vodka, a tablet as well as car van, and a suitcase full of clothing. now, the indonesiaian consulate here issues visas. there's no word on if the tablet that was stolen had any sensitive information on it, but police are looking for that honda odyssey van. they say it's tan in color and it has diplomat plates. they're also looking for those two suspects who got away. live on the upper east side this morning, magdalena doris,

robbed the indonesiaian consulate. >> investigators say the suspects walked right in. cbs 2's magdalena doris joins us live from the scene with the latest. magdalena. >>reporter: good morning, chris and mary. an unlocked side door here at the consulate made for easy access for these two thieves. police say they got away with everything from clothing to a car, and they were caught on camera in the process, looking right at the surveillance camera. this young man leads the way inside. a young woman then broke into the consulate generale republic of indonesia early monday morning just after 1:00. it's on east 68th street between fifth and madison avenues on the upper east side, and these suspects got in easily. they went down a hallway into a side door that had been unlocked, and then they just took their pick of whatever they could find. police say they got away with a samsung tablet, suitcase full of clothing, a case of vodka

odyssey van. now, police are not sure if there is any sensitive material on that tablet that was stolen. the consulate here issues visas to indonesiaian people here staying within the u.s., whether they be traveling or working, so they're checking into whether that tablet had any sensitive information on it, and they're also still looking for that van. it has diplomat plates. again, it's a tan 2004 honda odyssey. we're live on the upper east side this morning, magdalena doris, cbs 2 news. now to breaking news, a double shooting in newark that has left one man dead, a second victim, a woman was injured. it happened at around 12:30 this morning, the location is 196 seymour avenue. you can see the bullet holes in windows of the residence there. no word from police on a motive or possible suspects. an x-ray technician at a brooklyn hospital has been fired and criminally charged after reports from two patients

to his apartment around 11:00 sunday night when two men walked up behind him. guerrero says they pushed him inside his apartment, told him not to look at them and then tied him up with zip ties. i asked him what the men said to him. [ speaking spanish ] >>reporter: they said they were police, he told me. guerrero says he was forced onto the ground while one man ransacked a bedroom, searching through dresser drawers. as that was happening, guerrero's 29-year-old son jason walked into the middle of the crime. >> it grabbed my arm, and then put his other hand on my mouth and went shhh, like that. i couldn't do nothing after that. >>reporter: jason says the suspects put duct tape over his mouth and tied his hands behind his back. they forced him to the ground with one instruction. >> just to cooperate, you know, they wasn't going to hurt me, you know, they was just coming here looking for some money.

>> my dad, pitful. pitful. an old man. >>reporter: the family says investigators are now reviewing surveillance footage from inside the building to see if the suspects were caught on camera. in the west farm section of the bronx, valerie castro, cbs 2 news. security screeners stop a man from bringing a large knife onto a flight at kennedy airport. tsa officials tweeted a photo of the black hunting knife yesterday. they say it was pulled from a passenger's carry-on luggage. they didn't say if the passenger was allowed to board the flight or if charges were a daring rescue at a home up in flames in sayreville, new jersey. five people, including a 1- month-old infant were able to escape the blaze through a second floor window when the home became engulfed. young girls between the ages of 8 and 10 jumping down to safety as a mother tossed her baby down to rescuers. everyone making it out alive without any major injuries. a newark day care center is set to meet with parents today after a disturbing incident involving a syringe found on a playground. newark police say a 5-year-old

story. >> everybody has been in line waiting to get their package. >>reporter: things can get heated inside the church avenue post office. patience is tested as customers often wait more than an hour for a package. this man even bringing his own chair for his stay. >> i went for an hour, just stood there for an hour. >> most times maybe an hour plus. >> i come here to pick up packages and i wait for, like, two hours just to get a package. >>reporter: many customers turned right around when they needs more tellers, but say complaints to management fall on deaf ears. when i tried talking to a supervisor, this happened. the postal service the reason there's so much foot traffic at this office is because mail carriers can't deliver packages safely and sceurl in this neighborhood. so customers have to come here to pick them up. but residents say there has to be a better way. >> they don't even bother buzzing.
