tonight-- there will be a vigil for sandle which was planned before news a lebanon man suffered burns to forty percent of his body this afternoon after fire raged through a multi-family home in lebanon. early reports from the lebanon fire department is that the man's couch was on fire and he was trying to get it out of the home throhgh the front door.ultimately he couldn't do it -- and had to be helped out of the house himself by a neighbor-- he was flown to dayton due to the severity of his burns--three other people made it out of the home okay.. one tenant tells us the victim's girlfriend is a smoker.. and that her cigarette started the fire.

an appeal made by former juvenile court judge tracie hunter -- has been denied. hunter wanted the court to toss her conviction for using her position as a judge to help her brother. he was a juvenile court employee at the time and hunter was sentenced to six months.she claimed the jury wasn't correctly polled during her trial. no verdict was reached on another eight counts hunter faced. a retrial for those charges is scheduled to begin next week. meantime -- hamilton police still hope someone saw something that can help them piece together a shooting outside a bar overnight... that injured two. we know that just after 2:30 this morning -- someone opened fire outside a bar near seventh and high street.two people in that parking lot were shot.police are not sure if the victims shot at each other or were bystanders or involved in a fight. right now -- a live look at stocks.the dow dropped almost

automakers have also pledged to work to fix recalled cars faster and get more of us to take our cars in for those repairs.they say they'll be doing a better job of sharing information related to cybersecurity.that follows concerns about cars being hacked. the auto industry could also follow the lead of the aviation industry.part of today's pledge includes studying the safety system airlines use to see if it can be applied to cars. airlines already allow pilots and crew members to voluntarily and confidentially report near misses and close calls.julie -- back to you.

welcome back to the now cincinnati... a colerain township family escapes an early morning house fire..but that might not have been the case had the fire broken out just three months ago.briana harper has more on the gift that save their lives. the flames are out but the damage remains. firefighters responded to this home off sunlight drive around 9 oclock this morning and once they spoke to the folks who were inside the burning home they learned so much more. allen walls// asst. chief colerain fire dept. "the statement was made by the family that had it not been for those two smoke detectors they wouldn't have been woken up and we would've had a different situation." in fact those life-saving smoke detectors were a gift. it's all part of the fire departments' neighborhood canvas program where smoke detectors were installed for residents less than three months ago. "what we deemed as an at-risk neighborhood and that's where we decided the first blitz would be when the weather breaks the plan is to do a little more data analysis with the red cross to once again make a difference." the fire caused this home to
