space heaters may be to blame for a fire that killed a springfield township man this morning. crews were called to a home on timbermill court around 9 a-m. the now's briana harper talked to neighbors about the tragic discovery. all that's left at this point are the burnt remains of a home thats been a part of one family for at least two generations. a startling morning start for many neighbors who live along

blazing throughout this springfield township home.and witnesses say it all happened in just a matter of seconds. kevin keller//neighbor"there were flames that were probably 10 feet in the air above the porch-the porch was fully engulfed."kevin keller has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and says his first concern was for the elderly man next door.briana harper//@briana wcpo"neighbors tell me one of their worst nightmares was confirmed once they spotted the man's car in the driveway which is one of the tell-tell signs that most likely he was inside." "immediately i just grabbed my phone, called 911 and ran over to the house and started pounding on his door to see if i could get him up."but it was all too late.after battling the blaze for at least two hours firefighters found the man's body in the kitchen. neighbors say he's in his 60s and describe him simply as a "good guy.""saw him yesterday on the way home from church. he was walking his dog and he's got a big white beard and i call him santa. i stopped and said "hey santa" and we just chatted for a

investigation shows the blaze may have started on the backporch where space heaters where found-then the flames spread from there.chief robert leininger// springfield township fire dept."we have a heavy fire load on the inside. the fire is getting into concealed spaces and so we have to be able to tear walls down, ceilings down."a firefighter also suffered a sprained ankle while fighting the flames-but no other injuries were reported. the fire chief also says the clutter inside the home made it difficult for firefighters to not only contain the flames but also locate the victim. reporting live from springfield township briana harper the now cincinnati the snowy and cold conditions made it tough for crews to get the water they needed to fight that fire.they say the first hydrant they tried didn't work. so they had to run an extra 300 feet of hose to another one. at this time of the year they can freeze. when they attempted to turn the water on they weren't getting a good volume of water. water.firefighters say it cost them a few extra minutes, but

many kids spent presidents' day enjoying a day at home since there was no school police say the two teens who did this..were taking a joy ride in a stolen car when they crashed into a utility pole on sidney road in green township. it was just after 3 am that neighbor geoffrey hollenbach was startled from his sleep when the car crashed and burst into to flames outside of his window... with police hot on the suspects' trail. police say the boys ages 15 and 17 had stolen the vehicle from walt sweeney ford on glenway avenue. they were only able to drive about a mile and a half before police captured them both ..trying to run away. jeffrey hollenbach has no heat or phone service 16:29:57 certainly would love for all these kids to be at home w their families and in bed at night for whatever these kids weren't and it's just really sad. sad.crews spent hours getting this utility pole replaced and restoring phone service and electrify to residents. when police caught up with the suspects they found a bunch of car keys that the boys had also stolen from the

six homes were impacted by the power outage.duke energy has restored all services. new at 4-- cincinnati police have released the name of the man involved in an officer involved shooting in mount lookout. lookout.police say driver *ali gervacio refused to stop when an officer tried to pull him over just before two a-m sunday.a short chase ended when the 23 year old crashed into a parked car and tried to run.the officer fired a shot, missing him, but it was enough to get gervacio to stop running. he now faces several charges.the officer who fired the shot has been identified as sergeant andre smith -- a 28 year veteran of the force. surviving an incredible attack. ..a columbus couple attacked by a man with a machete last week.. is now talking about the horrific encounter. encounter.gerry and debbie russell were out for dinner at a mediterranean restaurant thursday when a man walked in and attacked four people. the wounds to the russells'

the winter. but this year the sharks didn't show up for their florida migration on time.florida atlantic university biologist dr. stephen kajiura studies the blacktips and their migration patterns down the atlantic coast. he shot this video after waiting weeks for the blacktips to make an appearance.the sharks will typically first arrive in mid-january, but the waters off the coast of palm beach were empty until the end of the month.but now that they're here, the blacktip sharks are congregating in huge numbers. dr. kajiura estimated more than 10,000 of the sharks are swimming just off the coast of palm beach, florida. and we really mean just off the coast. "the interesting thing is these sharks are right up against the shoreline. you could stand on the shore and toss a pebble and hit a shark, they're that close," dr. kajiura said.so what's up with the bizarre behavior from the sharks? part of the reason could be 2016's particularly strong el nino. the phenomenon's effects can be felt across the globe, changing the behaviors of sharks and other marine animals including sea snakes, sea lions and seals.warming ocean temperatures could also play a role. if waters farther north are staying warmer for
