trump accusing bernie sanders of sanding protesters to his events. and tuesday, voting in five states, ohio, john kasich out front, with 39%, followed by trump and cruz. rubio urging his supporters to back kasich. and all the candidates talking about what's happening inside and outside trump rallies. and david wright starts us off tonight. >> it's just tear gas. >> reporter: forget occupy wall street, tonight, it's more like occupy donald trump. >> get him out of here. get him out. send him back to bernie. send him back. >> reporter: the latest example, today in bloomington, illinois. >> it was totally organized. the truth is, they're disruptors, not protesters. >> reporter: last night in kansas city, police used horses for crowd control.

look into it, yes. >> reporter: trump's arrive rivals are seizing the moment. 6 >> if donald is the nominee, it makes it much more likely that hillary clinton wins the general. >> reporter: another trump rally just getting under way. all quiet so. trump calls it his second home. hoping to snatch it away from marco rubio on tuesday. >> thanks. and let's go to jonathan karl. how does this unrest affect the voting in the big states on tuesday? >> in the short run, i don't think it hurts trump at all. first, his supporters are probably going to rally to his side, and a lot of people have already voted in those big states. in florida, because of early voting, more than 1 million republicans have already cast their votes. in ohio, they've been voting since the middle of february. but in the long run, it could

republicans and eventually the entire country if he gets the nomination. this isn't going in the right direction. and hillary clinton, trying to seal the democratic nomination with a big win on tuesday. bernie sanders facing an uphill battle to claim delegates. polls show clinton leading in all five states. and the closest fight in illinois, 51-45. mary bruce on the campaign trail. >> reporter: tonight, bernie sanders is crying foul. as donald trump blames sanders supporters for the chaos at his rallies. >> he tells the truth very, very rarely. and i'm afraid on this occasion he's lying again. >> reporter: and he's pointing the finger back to trump. >> this is a man dividing up this country in very serious ways. >> reporter: donald trump is now threatening to send his supporters to bernie sanders' rallies in an act of retaliation. a handful showed up in st. louis.

and in columbus, a different take. your message? >> feel the bern. >> reporter: as they battle it out in five key states ahead of tuesday. and hillary clinton made her final pitch, taking a jab at sanders. >> it's not enough if you want be president, to tell people what you're against. >> reporter: clinton hoping to avoid a repeat of last tuesday's defeat in michigan by sweeping all five states. "saturday night live" poked fun at the challenges she faces from sanders. >> i'm sick and tired of hearing about my own damn e-mails! >> and i've got supporters of all ages, 18-year-olds, 19-year-olds. >> reporter: and bernie sanders has been spending a lot of time in ohio, where he says he feels the momentum heading into tuesday. but according to the polls, hillary clinton still holds the lead.

and stay with abc news for primary results throughout the night on tuesday. we want to move on to breaking news from prince georges county, maryland. an officer, shot outside of a police station. critically wounded, some residents told to shelter in space. and our affiliate reporting one suspect taken into custody. gloria riviera, with the details. >> reporter: a maryland police officer was shot and critically wounded outside of the police headquarters. police urging everyone to stay inside. the fbi is also at the scene. we know that one suspect is in custody, but police remain on high alert. it's unclear if there is more than one shooter connected. we know that more than a dozen police officers are holding

where their colleague is being treated. tom? >> thank you. and we're following breaking news overseas. two separate terrorist attacks. in turkey, dozens killed in a huge explosion, the blast reportedly from a car bomb in the capital. several government agencies nearby. and in west africa, al qaeda claiming responsibility for a deadly assault. gunmen targeting three hotels. alex marquardt with the new images coming in. >> reporter: a bloody sunday on two continents. in turkey's capital, emergency services responding after an explosion ripping through an area next to a bus stop and government buildings. the dead and wounded carried away. more than 30 killed. the u.s. state department had warned of a potential attack. it was the fourth to hit turkey

kurds and isis. and coming just after news from west africa that gunmen had stormed a beach in the ivory coast. security forces quickly surrounded the area. evacuating the wounded to safety. the government said 16 people were killed, in addition to 6 attackers, who were believed to be from the al qaeda affiliate in africa, after they claimed responsibility. it's the third time they've struck in the past four months. after deadly attacks on hotels in two other nearby countries, mali and burkina faso. the frequency of the global terror attacks is growing. intelligence officials say the question is not if, but when about the next terrorist attack. >> alex, thank you. back here at home, dangerous

5 million people facing a severe weather threat that could include tornadoes. nearly 5,000 homes damaged in louisiana. phillip mena in the flood zone tonight. >> reporter: tonight, communities across the south working to hold back the swollen rivers. in this covington, louisiana, neighborhood, families who were rescued by boat this weekend returning home to see the damage. we were with the engelhart family yesterday. when they were rescued. >> it didn't matter that my house was destroyed as long as my family was safe. >> reporter: their home was spared. but right down the street, this house was one of nearly 5,000 across louisiana damaged by flooding. >> by the time we got out, the front and back met, and we knew it was over. we knew it was coming in the house. >> reporter: roadways under water. debris, floating among the submerged homes.
