online threat. that threat was posted on the same website that carried postings about the oregon shootings a day before the killings. the f.b.i. put out the warning to philly area schools even though the threat is somewhat vague. alerts were sent out to students as a precaution. emily: jury selection is set to begin this week in the trial of a teenager accused of raping and killing his math teacher at danvers high school. phillip chism was 14 when he was charged in the murder of 24-year-old colleen ritzer. her body was found covered in leaves behind the school allegedly next to a note reading, "i hate you all." chism is being tried as an adult. his lawyers are expected to use a mental health defense. jury selection begins on wednesday. a former new hampshire police officer is expected to plead guilty today in connection with this incident inside the seabrook police station. mark richardson was about to be retried on charges he slammed a prisoner's head into a concrete wall in 2009. there was a mistrial in the case in may. richardson's lawyer tells "the union leader" he agreed to a

overnight and then continues to move out through the north atlantic. joaquin is sitting off shore. you've heard about all this rain in the carolinas. completely a separate entity from joaquin. you can see it is still raining there. that storm coupled with high pressure to our north has been giving us the persistent winds all weekend long. the winds are beginning to relax. we are still getting some gusts now along the coastline here up over 20 miles per hour. but compared to the past few days the winds are gradually coming down. still enough wind though. you can see how the clouds are kind of backing in off the ocean. the cloudiest skies right now are in southeastern massachusetts. clearest skies to the north and west. where we've cleared out, the temperatures have dropped. there's a frost advisory up here for parts of southern new hampshire and western massachusetts through 9:00 a.m. you can see a few spots down in the 30's. nashua at 39. jaffrey to keene running in the lower 30's. 45 in worcester. it is 50 out the door in boston right now. and mostly running in the mid 50's here across southeastern massachusetts. so it's a cloudy, kind of cool start to your day. by lunchtime, still mostly cloudy skies.
5:14 am
temperatures only in the upper 50's. by 5:00 p.m. they will be a little brighter than north and west. temperatures either side of 60 degrees. i think we're going to hold very close to 60 at the coastline. where we do brighten it up a little bit north and west of town, lower 60's out there and winds holding out of the northeast at about 10-20 miles per hour today. you can see on future cast lots of cloud cover through lunchtime. not even out of the question there's a little patch or two of drizzle here especially down toward the cape. and then the skies do brighten up a little bit north and west of town by this evening. but i think it will be overnight when the bulk of us really begin to see the clouds break apart although there still may be cloud cover by tomorrow morning on cape cod. overnight low temperatures tonight back down in the 40's for most of us. it's another cool night ahead. brighten things up for you. the temperatures respond into the upper 60's. notice here the skies clearing out. lots of sunshine showing up for you on tuesday. that sun is going to be with us on into wednesday which should be the warmest day of the week as we go into the lower 70's. still pleasant.

prospect seems for the legislative body he presides over. during boehner's five-year tenure as speaker, a small but vociferous tea party-inspired group of representatives has increasingly stymied his leadership. boehner's been forced to repeatedly engage in ideologically-driven-- but politically unwinnable-- battles, one of which resulted in a damaging government shutdown in 2013. this fall promises more of the same on capitol hill. boehner has had enough. and who can blame him? whatever you may think about his leadership skills, few would accuse boehner of not caring deeply about the institution of congress. nevertheless, he knows firsthand just how far the public's respect for the house and senate has plunged. it's no coincidence that all three of the leading g.o.p. presidential candidates have never held elective office. boehner also pulled no punches, referring to ultra-conservatives as "false prophets" willing to compromise less and less and holding little value at all for actual governance.
5:26 am
by the end of october, such scorched-earth, political zealotry will no longer be boehner's problem, resting instead with the new speaker and ultimately the nation as well. pope francis called on congress to cooperate "generously for the public good." although that's unlikely given the recent past, here's hoping its most intractable members heed his words, if not their own outgoing speaker's final and
