plane's 57-year-old captain died in flight. >> i have never landed in an airplane that quick before. there was ambulances waiting there already when the plane got to the gate. >> we had to wait for the body to be removed from the plane. it was pretty intense. mary: it happened on a midnight flight from phoenix to boston, the first officer quickly taking control deciding to make an emergency landing. >> he had declared an emergency, then air traffic control assumes a supporting role. they can't tell him what to do or where to go, he is responsible for what happens to that airplane. mary: philip is an instructor. >> eyes on the attitude indicator, left hand on the yoke. delta. the critical condition and good weather and a lengthy runway contributed to the first officer's call to land the >> medical emergency. >> i listened to the first officer on the radio.

the victims' families. ed: in the wake of the oregon shooting, hillary clinton is revealing her gun control plan. she got emotional during a campaign event in new hampshire today, take a look. hillary clinton: when this happens, people are quick to say that they offer their thoughts and prayers. that's not enough. ed: clinton says that a 2005 law that shields gun manufacturers from lawsuits needs to be repealed. she also said expanded background checks are needed for gun shows and online sales, but gun shop owners in new hampshire say background checks aren't the problem. >> there is no gun show loophole per se. when i go to a gun show, i do all of the same checks at a gun show as out of my shop. ed: clinton is hoping that her new plan will push her back into the lead in the polls in new hampshire. heather: new hampshire's senate race is bound to be one of the toughest in the nation.

in many areas, the water has started to recede already. it's in those same areas that we are now seeing some of the worst damage. ed: look at this video, cited for this wild cash. he was driving that honda when he smashed into an illegally parked van. the van lifted off the ground and landed on top of the honda. they slid another 40 feet after that. the 32-year-old driver has minor cuts and bruises and is being cited. heather: 30-year-old donald is being held on $60,000 bail tonight. he is charged with sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy who went to the school in 2013 and 2014. he is also accused of making child porn. concord police say the attacks happened off campus. he left that school nearly two years ago. ed: and look out for this in the merrimack valley tonight

open your eyes for this, this is new at 11:00. those are moose that are butting heads in the middle of a neighborhood. they are feet away from a father and a son who obviously grabbed their camera to shoot it. you can blame this on the mating season, this is all over, what else, a girl. >> they started going at it. ed: the guys were two bull moose duking it out over a girl naturally. >> it was crazy. not what you would expect. i had seen this in the wild, 100 yards away. ed: he never expected to see the action this close to his home. >> they were eight to 10 feet from us at one point. ed: it started in a neighbor's driveway. >> we were up here and behind the car. >> ased brawl spills on to the street. they run for safety. >> i filmed a lot of that video from right here.

feel great. that can happen in the fall, you need a warm jacket early and you can just about take it off completely, the jacket that is in the afternoon as temperatures are around 70 or a little bit above over the interior, mid to upper 60's along the coast, a little bit of a weak sea breeze. fog gives way to sunshine, may start the same way on wednesday and gives way to sunshine and a third day in a row on thursday should have a lot of sunshine. i don't think friday we'll add to it. i'll show you that in a moment. we're talking about how difficult the situation continues to be in the carolinas, particularly south carolina where they had over 20 inches of rain, just an amazing amount. that's due to this system not even due directly to joaquin which has bypassed bermuda, it affected them, they had strong conditions, but it's over the open waters and will accelerate across the atlantic and eventually weaken somewhat and
